First Century of the Renewed Moravian Church in Bohemia (1862-1968)
Vantová, Alena ; Morée, Pieter Cornelis Adrianus (advisor) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee) ; Hlaváček, Petr (referee)
The dissertation First Century of the Renewed Moravian Church in Bohemia (1862 - 1968) focuses on the question of what problems and difficulties the church encountered in that era. The church started working in the Czech lands again in 1862, when it officially supported travelling preachers to care for believers. The preachers organized Bible studies in small groups. Their activity was limited because the church was not authorized by the government. That changed in 1880. The mission was started, then Czech and German congregations began to emerge. After the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic, the congregations were influenced by transfer movement. The Czech congregations demanded independence, but the German congregations were against it. After many negotiations, Czech and German congregations split up and administered their affairs independ- ently. During World War II, most Czech preachers joined the resistance movement. Their activity provoked criticism when the war was over. After the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia, some congregations ceased to exist. A great turning point happened in 1949, when church laws were passed, which set out for activity of churches. The Czech congregations gained the status of an in- dependent province and in 1967 a general synod was held in Potštejn. The...

Bolom Kotari, Martina ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Roskovec, Jan (referee)
BOLOM KOTARI, Martina: The Status of a Woman in the Bible in Perspective of Luise Schottroff and Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza. Bachelor thesis. Praha: Karlova univerzita, Evangelická teologická fakulta, 2017. Annotation Luise Schottroff and Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza represent two main personalities of the feministic theology of the last 40 years. Notably the American Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, a Rumanian by origin, achieved a revolution among feministic theologians by writing the fundamental work In Memory of Her. It shows the first methodical and compact view on the issue of women in the Biblical texts. She did not focus on the texts themselves, but she deals with the circumstances of their origin, intentions of their authors, their interpretation in history, as well as outcomes for women as human beings. She also came with today well-known terms such as "Kyriarchy", "Women Church", Discipleship of Equals, etc. She has developed her thoughts in other books which have been published recently. She influenced feministic researchers worldwide. Luise Schottroff (d. 2015) was a German Biblicist specialising in the New Testimony. She dealt with the development of feministic theology, analysed and interpreted (mainly) the New Testimony from the feministic perspective and insisted on a hermeneutist preference...
Man is a creature of God
Man with severe illness or dying, it is still a person, be it approached as a disruptive element, a worrying fact or danger, or rather to an invisible, non-existent. Sometimes as a disaster. In better as if the object of care or compassion. We spend the not fully meeting with this man, we have the opportunity to hear a challenge to our God, whose the image we are created, calling for solidarity spolulidství, the self-giving, sharing and accompaniment on the journey towards him.

Attitudes of the ECCB members towards current social moral issues
Lavický, Jan ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Janečková, Hana (referee)
In my diploma thesis, I deal with five socio-moral topics and with the attitudes of members of The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) towards them. These topics are: 1) Marriage and family 2) Homosexuality 3) Ethnical minorities 4) Dispute over the legacy of communism 5) Refugees and immigrants. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the official statements of the synod and the Synodal Council. Furthermore, this chapter reveals the process leading to adopting these positions. This rather descriptive part is followed by a sociological survey of opinions on the issues, mentioned above, held by members of ECCB. The aim of the survey is to figure out, whether these opinions are in agreement with the official statements. The final chapter is dedicated to data evaluation. The main goal of my diploma thesis is to find out what issues are for ECCB members easy to agree on and in which cases are the opinions rather individualized.
