Chasm and temple. Metaphors of chaos and order in 1870s Czech poetry

The author of this paper goes back to the 1870s, a time in which European society had to deal with a number of challenging situations – for example, a symptom of this intellectual crisis at the time was considered to be the rising tide of suicide. Hence attention is focused here on writers and their reactions to these crisis phenomena, as they had a direct influence through reading on educated members of society, and so\ncould help to create a way to manage these crisis phenomena. Czech poetry output, represented in this study by Jaroslav Vrchlický and Irma Geisslová, also had to deal with these reflections of the pessimistic Weltanschauung during the 1870s. These authors handled this challenge in various ways, their chosen strategy having an impact on the public reception of their works and influencing their subsequent literary careers.

Labor Market Structure Analysis: MAJОR LEAGUE SОCCER

This thesis deals with the determination of the player labour market for the American professional sports league Major League Soccer (MLS). In the theoretical part I focus on the description of the league's development along with the salary politics rules. Using the two stages least square method in the empirical part I then provide the model for the estimation of player's marginal productivity (MRP). In the first step I explain the correlation between the percentages of obtained points by teams with player statistics. In the second step I examine the influence of this variable along with other factors on team's revenues from attendance. Afterwards I compare the calculated player's MRP with their salaries and also test some additional factors that might influence players' salaries. Using this model and also some other simple regressions I conclude that MLS labour market is a monopsony market structure. Besides I found out that forwarders market seems to be the closest part of the MLS labour market to the competitive market structure. In conclusion I discuss possible model's weaknesses, which turned out to be especially dependency of players on their co-players' on-field performance.

Make out of a part of the Fundamental Map at the scale 1:500 for the JU area.

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo vyhotovení části základní mapy areálu Jihočeské univerzity v měřítku 1:500. Mapovanou oblastí byla jižní část areálu Biologické fakulty Jihočeské univerzity v Českých Budějovicích v katastrálním území České Budějovice 2 o rozloze cca 4 ha. Mapovací práce spočívají ve shromáždění podkladů, rekognoskaci lokality, doplnění podrobného polohového bodového pole, polohovém a výškovém určení nově vzniklých bodů PBPP, polohovém i výškovém zaměření pomocných a podrobných bodů, výpočetních pracích a následném vyhodnocení dosažených přesností, zobrazovacích pracích a ve vytvoření kartografického originálu včetně všech příloh v předepsaném tvaru. Po rekognoskaci terénu bylo navrženo doplnění podrobného polohového bodového pole. Nové body PBPP byly stabilizovány plastovými mezníky a byly doplněny o body pomocné. Tyto body tak společně tvořily vrcholy polygonového pořadu, jež procházel celým zájmovým územím. Vrcholy polygonového pořadu byly zaměřeny elektronickou totální stanicí Nicon C-100. Mezní hodnoty odchylek v polygonovém pořadu byly dodrženy. Výšky těchto bodů byly určeny technickou nivelací přístrojem Topcon AT-22. Mezní přípustná odchylka v uzávěru nivelačního pořadu nebyla překročena. K zaměření podrobných a pomocných bodů byla využita tachymetrická metoda, tedy poloha bodů byla určena polárně a jejich výška trigonometricky. Při tomto měření byla opět použita totální stanice Nicon C-100. Výpočetní a zobrazovací práce byly realizovány v geodetickém programu Kokeš. Výpočet nivelačního pořadu byl proveden ručně. Souřadnice všech podrobných bodů byly určeny v systému S-JTSK a výškovém systému Bpv. Kontrola přesnosti polohového určení podrobných bodů byla provedena s využitím kontrolních oměrných a porovnáním souřadnic identických bodů. Přesnost výškového určení byla kontrolována rozdílem výšek bodů určených jak technickou nivelací tak i trigonometricky. Požadovaná kritéria přesnosti byla dodržena. Práce byly komplikovány nepřízní počasí a poměrně zdlouhavým ručním vkládáním měřených dat do geodetického programu Kokeš. Výsledku této diplomové práce, kterým je kartografický originál jižní části areálu Biologické fakulty Jihočeské univerzity v Českých Budějovicích včetně všech příloh, bylo dosaženo v požadované přesnosti. Mapové dílo odpovídá stavu k říjnu 2006.

The Term Romanticism in Literary History

Subject of the dissertation thesis research is the term Romanticism, in entirety of its existence in thinking about the history of specific Central European literary works. At first the author of the thesis discusses constitution of the term, its revision and basic scope of the revised term use. Introduction of the constitutionalized term as an intersection of judgments, allows us to understand the reasons for its inconsistency and ambiguity in the meaning which were the most significant incentives for the revision of the term. The constitution as well as the concept revision is monitored in terms of interpretation of its meaning, the differentiation of the meaning and its collocability with other terms of the same genus proximum. Use of the revised concept is examined in terms of accentuating the homogeneity and heterogeneity of its meaning. After the establishing the general historical overview of the Romanticism term use, the author of the thesis focuses on its use in the relation with the Czech national literature as a specific, relatively fixed set of material. Author focuses on the application of the term in critical-historical thinking about the modern Czech literature, in the positivist and mindscientific works, and also devotes attention to the interference of Marxist thinking to the structuralistic concept of Czech literature history in relation to the Romanticism and to the current possibilities of the term use. Based on the introduced glimpses into the history of the use of the term Romanticism the author comes to several recommendations for current and future conceptualization of Romanticism, whose validity may also be related to other historical literature terms.
