Deeper properties of conics in the projective plane
Dvořák, Pavel ; Krump, Lukáš (advisor) ; Hromadová, Jana (referee)
The bachelor thesis presents alternative constructions and procedures in order to deepen the understanding of conic sections. Several types of procedures were used while solving certain problems, all of which led to the same result. Thesis also includes a more complicated construction of a conic section that does not lead to a unique solution. The main outcome of this thesis is reminiscent of the basic projective geometry course with an extended focus on conic sections. 1
Limits of Data Structures, Communication, and Cards
Dvořák, Pavel ; Koucký, Michal (advisor) ; Hansen, Kristoffer Arnsfelt (referee) ; Chakrabarti, Amit (referee)
Limits of Data Structures, Communication, and Cards - Abstract In this thesis, we study several aspects of computational complexity. One of the main topics is the complexity of data structures, which are algorithms for efficient storing data supporting efficient queries to the data. In the case of dynamic data structures, they also allow modification of the data before querying. A long-standing open problem in this area is to prove an unconditional polynomial lower bound of the trade-off between the update time and the query time of an adaptive dynamic data structure computing some explicit function. We provide an unconditional polynomial lower bound for a restricted class of semi-adaptive dynamic data structures computing functions of large corruption bound, that generalizes the result by Ko and Weinstein [FOCS '20] who provided such a lower bound for data structures computing the Disjointness function. Further, we provide conditional lower bounds for certain static data structures computing permutation inversion, and polynomial evaluation and inversion. These lower bounds beat the best-known unconditional lower bounds for the problems of interest. Further, we study the communication complexity of the elimination problem, which is a prob- lem closely related to the direct sum. In the elimination problem, Alice...
Probe methods for diagnostics of plasmatic systems for deposition of thin films
Zanáška, Michal ; Tichý, Milan (advisor) ; Dvořák, Pavel (referee) ; Straňák, Vítězslav (referee)
The doctoral thesis deals with an experimental study of several diagnostic techniques intended for plasma diagnostics and diagnostics of thin films during reactive sputter deposition. A relatively novel probe diagnostic technique called Floating harmonic probe for measurement of the ion density and electron tem- perature in technological low-temperature plasma is studied. A Langmuir probe is commonly used, however, its application in conditions where non-conducting films are being deposited can be problematic or unreliable. The floating harmonic probe measurement technique deals with this inherent problem of the Langmuir probe. The Floating harmonic probe results are compared to those obtained by a classical Langmuir probe in non-reactive DC continuously driven discharge, and its applicability in reactive regime during deposition of iron oxide thin films is proved. The work deals also with a modification of the Floating harmonic probe called Phase Delay Harmonic Analysis Method which is intended for diagnostics of pulsed driven discharges. The second part of the thesis is devoted to a new proposed method for in-situ diagnostics of thin films. This method monitors the capacitance and resistance of a thin film during deposition up to the frequencies in the kHz range. This new method could be used for...
Bundeswehr ISAF-deployment in Afghanistan
Křížová, Lucie ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Dvořák, Pavel (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with deployment of German army within ISAF strategy in Afghanistan. The deployment of military forces is one of the most discussed queries in German politics and among German public. The thesis analyses the development in Afghanistan from 2001 to September 2013. The thesis is divided into three parts. Firstly, I define the theory of role and the concept of civil power, which is one of approaches for analysis of foreign policy. I define some criteria and according to them I examine, if Germany behaves in Afghanistan as civil power, for which is it considered. In the following part I deal with the development in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2009. I analyse the beginning of OEF and ISAF operations, mandate's extensions, the reasons for deployment in Afghanistan and the development of the security situation in country. The main part of this thesis is the deployment of German army within new ISAF strategy in Afghanistan, which was declared by American president Barack Obama in 2009. The thesis focuses on the attitude of Germany to the most important events in this period, for example to the declaration of new ISAF strategy, to international conference on Afghanistan in London, to transition to afghan lead, to the leaving of the international troops and to support after the year...
Advanced methods of searching the game tree of 3-dimensional Tic-Tac-Toe
Dvořák, Pavel ; Valla, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šámal, Robert (referee)
In this thesis we study positional games, especially multidimensional tic-tac-toe. We compare present advanced algorithms (Pn-search, Db-search and λ-search) for position solving in positional games. We apply the algorithms on the do- main of 43 and 53 games, which are the first nontrivial cases of 3-dimensional tic-tac-toe. We parallelize Pn-search for cases when there are more starting po- sitions. We apply Pn-search as a single-thread task and we solve how to share the transposition table with solved positions. Our main and clearly theoretical result is the characterization of the group of all automorphisms of combinatorial cube nd with the same set of lines as multidimensional tic-tac-toe has. This is a generalization of Silver [The American Mathematical Monthly, Vol. 74, No. 3, 1967], who characterized the automorphisms of the game 43 . 1
The Czech-German Military-Security Cooperation vs. the Arising Strategic Culture of the Czech Republic
Stojanovová, Kamila ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Dvořák, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis depicts the Czech-German military-security cooperation in context of the security cultures of both countries. It focuses on the specific German strategic culture, however, the process of emerging strategic culture in the case of Czech Republic as a possible limiting factor for the military cooperation with Germany has also been pointed out. The theoretical base of this work are the concepts of political- military culture from Thomas U. Berger and strategic culture from Kerry Longhurst. The key criteria for the compatibility-analysis of both strategic cultures are the historical experience with the use of military force, the attitudes to army and use of force across the political elite, in the public opinion and in strategic papers, and the legitimation process of military missions. According to this, the aim of the work is to find the reason why in the period prior to the accession of Czech Republic to NATO the cooperation in the political and practical spheres didn't take place in the same intensity. At the same time, it tries to find the reason why the participation of the Czech Army in PRT Faizabad has been the only significant moment in the military cooperation with Germany after the NATO-accession in 1999. However, this work doesn't leave out the recent development, which...
Unlawful use of a copyrighted work
Dvořák, Pavel ; Křesťanová, Veronika (advisor) ; Holcová, Irena (referee)
This thesis is focused on the theme of unlawful use of a copyrighted work. The main aim of this work is to provide a fundamental insight into the current state of protection of rights belonging to the authors in the Czech Republic, emphasizing the exclusive right of exploitation. Furthermore by using the examples of selected forms of exploitation this thesis aims to delineate a certain line between a lawful and unlawful use of a copyrighted work, especially with regard to the case law of the CJEU. This thesis is composed of four chapters, which are divided into sections and subsections. Chapter One is an introductory chapter which provides definition of a copyrighted work and explains the content of exclusive rights of authors to their works. Chapter Two focuses on the right of exploitation. It describes various forms of exploitation of copyrighted works and also deals with the regulation of a license agreement and the non-contractual use of works secured by the exceptions and limitations of copyright. The legislative changes caused by the recodification of Czech civil legislation are also reflected. Chapter Three examines the means of protection provided by the Czech law in case of a copyright infringement. It contains a list of private claims which the author can use against the offender along...
Duplication of rapid reaction forces: NATO and EU
Sokol, Martin ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dvořák, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis Duplication of rapid reaction forces: NATO and EU aims to clarify whether the NATO Response Forces and the European Union's EU Battlegroups are identical or not. After the Cold War ended these the two organizations began with the building of its own rapidly deployable military forces and because membership states are almost overlapping, the question arises, why should those states allocate their resources to identical concepts. Thesis first describes the change of security environment and the threats that result from them for NATO and the EU. These dangers have both actors responded by adopting a series of documents that defines the tools for their management and which demonstrated the need for rapid response forces. In subsequent chapters thesis describes the creation of both units and compared their essential characteristics and capabilities. Also is explained how these two organizations are fighting against duplication. The last chapter shows on the example of the Czech Republic (which is a member of NATO and the EU) how a member state deals with the force contribution to both concepts and whether Czechs consider them as duplicative. At the end of the thesis author claims that NATO Response Forces and EU Battlegroups are not identical, because they differ in various aspects. Powered...
Endothelin and renin - the angiotensin system and its relation to hypertension and hypertension organ damage
Dvořák, Pavel ; Červenka, Luděk (advisor) ; Herget, Jan (referee) ; Janda, Jan (referee) ; Tesař, Vladimír (referee)
Renin-angiotensin and endothelin system play important role in blood pressure regulation. ln order to determine the contribution of an interaction between ET-I and ANG II to the development of hypertension and related end-organ damage in an ANG lI-dependent model of hypertension, we utilized a rat strain transgenic for the mouse Ren-2 renin gene (TGR; strain name TGR(mRen2)27). All our experimental studies have confirmed the crucial effect of increased natrium intake in a diet on development of arterial hypertension and hypertensive end- organ damage (especially kidneys and heart) in this model of arterial hypertension. Previous studies have demonstrated the presence of several types of endothelin system receptors - ETA and ET6 receptors with two subtypes- ETBl and ET62. Our study has brought a new knowledge of physiologic and pathophysiologic function of these receptors. The non- selective blockade of ETA and ETB receptors by Bosentan, improves survival rate of both homozygous and heterozygous transgenic animals, declines extent of hypertensive cardiac end-organ damage and reduce proteinuria and glomeru losclerosis. However, this positive effect of nonselective endothelin blockade is not caused due to decrease of arterial blood pressure. The reason for this fact is probably in various effects of...
