Schmidová, Martina ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Trávníčková, Ivana (referee)
The theme of this graduate thesis is Alzheimer disease: care in the hands of family members. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is on a theoretical base and the second part is practical. The theoretical part defines ageing, dementia and Alzheimer disease. The theoretical part establishes a framework that served as a basis for the practical part, which describes a care in family environment. This theme was chosen because of the increase in the population with the disease. Is possible that medical facilities will not be able to handle that many patients, but children and grandchildren might be willing to take responsibility for their diseased parents and grandparents. The object of the thesis is to describe the care of patients with Alzheimer's disease at home, including the possible pitfalls, which can experience family members in the role of lay caregivers. The practical part describes a case-study of a patient - nursing process and the possibility of using the services of different organizations so that the patient can live as long as possible with his family. The thesis will be able to serve as an auxiliary material for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease at home and can also inform healthcare professionals in the relevant fields about the possibilities...

(v AJ) According to research conducted by the STEM/MARK Agency in collaboration with Cesta domu organisation, 78% of the Czech population, wish to die at home. The fact is, however, that more than 60% of the chronically ill, who would benefit from a provision of specialized palliative care, die in beds of intensive, acute health care facilities or aftercare. Differences in the quality of life in patients undergoing hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation
Horníková, Dita ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Vaňková, Milena (referee)
The literature indicates that treatment by means of elimination methods is extremely challenging for patients, bringing a fundamental change to their lives. The aim of the thesis was to identify and describe the challenges of treatment in patients with renal failure and how a given method of treatment affects the patient's quality of life and needs, as well as to understand the subjective difficulties and problems. A data collection method in the form of non-standardized semi-structured interviews was selected for qualitative research. The surveyed sample consisted of six patients of a dialysis centre. The respondents taking part in the qualitative research were informed in advance of the course, circumstances and ethical aspects of the research. The obtained data was analyzed, colour-coded and then sorted into subcategories. The results were interpreted using the "showdown" technique. The interviewed sample of respondents was subjected to multiple elimination methods in the treatment of their disease. Kidney transplant patients subjectively evaluated the quality of their lives as very high, talking about "a life of a normal man". Peritoneal dialysis patients also evaluated their quality of life as relatively high, highlighting a certain feeling of independence. Haemodialysis patients describe...
Nursing care of a patient with breast cancer with intravenous port
Suková, Markéta ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (referee)
For my bachelor thesis, I chose a topic related to nursing care of a breast cancer patient with an intravenous port and an indication of chemotherapy. I worked on the theme based on my long experience with intravenous ports at the sampling center. Breast cancer still retains primacy in cancer, and many women die yearly. Its treatment requires specific features and is very time consuming. Great benefits in this area are intravenous port systems. When used, complications occur which often prevent faster course of treatment. At the end of my work I described the patient's and healthcare staff's expressions of satisfaction with these long-term venous inlets. The aim of the work was to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of intravenous ports and their use in the treatment of oncology patients. I focused mainly on nursing procedures and care for the intravenous port during treatment, after treatment as well as on blood withdrawals associated with oncology treatment. The method of work is a case report of a patient who has long been treated with breast cancer at an oncology stationary. Information I drew from literature, from Czech and foreign articles and from patient's documentation. The main outcome of this study is the finding that intravenous ports greatly facilitate access to the venous...

Polívková, Helena ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Hocková, Jana (referee)
The theme of the final thesis is the nursing process in a patient with iatrogenic perforation of the esophagus in the Department of Geriatric Medicine. I consider the chosen topic to be very interesting, but not too often presented from the viewpoint of a nurse and nursing. Based on a single patient case study, the objective was to analyze the care provided for a patient with iatrogenic perforation of the esophagus in the Department of Geriatric Medicine. Nursing care was focused on the care of a geriatric patient with an esophagostomy, mediastinal drain and cognitive deficits. Another goal was to demonstrate that even in the geriatric department, very good results can be achieved by providing a good patient care. The last objective was to compare the procedures provided by nursing care in the Czech Republic and abroad. In my final thesis, I used a case study method, implemented by a nursing case in a patient in the geriatric department and aftercare of a regional type medical facility. Information for the final thesis was drawn from Czech and foreign literature, own observation and provision of nursing care, interview with the patient and from its available documentation. Part of the information was obtained from an interview with the medical team that provided the care. I had the oral approval of...
Nursing rounds and their significance from the perspective of nurses
Němcová, Miroslava ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Di Cara, Veronika (referee)
This bachelor thesis is devoted to problems of nursing rounds. Nursing rounds are of great importance in terms of quality of care nurses and nursing staff should provide. Moreover, they are very important from a patient's perspective. Integral care of his health and nursing process itself give a basis for creating a preview for care provided generally in health. Since every medical facility is different and procedures change in the theoretical part I have described how it should be properly carried out, how nursing rounds should look like and what should be an integral element. Then, on these grounds I built the entire outline of his thesis. I used a search of the literature in PubMed, Medline databases, information search engines UK and compared theoretical data of nursing rounds with the actual situation in Czech hospitals. I have determined objectives and hypothesis on the basis of practical experience according to the theoretical part of this thesis and in relation to the research problem. The main aim of the thesis is to show how big importance properly implemented nursing rounds have. Their importance is reflected not only in the quality of the care given but also in the patient's perspective of the care throughout the healthcare facility which is a measure that should not be neglected. In...

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the nursing process of a patient diagnosed Uterus myomatosus. The chosen theme seems to be a truly current issue as the number of operations, particularly hysterectomy due to Uterus myomatosus, is on the top chart position (due to statistics of Registr komplikací gynekologické laparoskopie). Myomas are tumors hormonally connected with estrogenes. They are significant for every fourth woman in her productive age, most common at about 40 years of age. The goal of thesis is based on a specific case study of a patient of department of gynecology, who was supposed to have her uterus removed through laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Slouková, Michaela ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Hakenová, Renata (referee)
The thesis is focused on the role of nurse in patient education prior anaesthesia in surgical procedures in orthopaedic. Description of this role is based on the experience at the orthopaedic clinic and problems related to it are seen in the results of survey. The aim was to assess the level and effectiveness of patient education done by nurse before anaesthesia, measure the level of satisfaction and patient awareness before surgery, assess the quality and content of education provided by nurse and identify the current competencies of nurses in patient education before anaesthesia. Data for the research survey were obtained through two questionnaires designed for nurses working at the orthopaedic clinic and for patients who have undergone scheduled intervention in this clinic. The most important finding of the research results was crossing the competencies of nurses in the preoperative patient education because the lack of visits by anaesthesiologist. Based on what I studied in the available literature and the research results, in the discussion I am presenting proposals for solutions of this situation and I suggest active offering of the information material to patient during admission, the creation of improved education material for preoperative preparation, using of different teaching methods...
