ESWT in Achilles tendinopathy
Hojková, Lýdie ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Havlíčková, Michaela (referee)
Achilles tendinopathy is a painful condition formed by chronic overuse. Conservative treatement requires activity modification, heel lifts, arch supports, even immobilisation. There are often unsatisfactory results with it. The use of ESWT has recently been introduced in soft-tissue disorders including epicondylitis, plantar fasciitis, calcifitation of the shloulder and, as well, Achilles tendinopathy. The aim of the work was to introduce the effects of ESWT on soft tissues, types of generation and new posibilities in ESWT therapy in Achilles tendinopathy.
Viscerosomatic links
Ručková, Adéla ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Bitnar, Petr (referee)
Bibliographic record RUČKOVÁ, Adéla. Viscerosomatic links. Prague Charles University, 2nd faculty of medicine, Department of rehabilitation and excersise medicine, 2013. Supervisor: Mgr. Júlia Demeková. Abstract This thesis deals with viscerosomatic interactions from the perspective of a physiotherapist. It explains the terminology concepts occurring in viscerosomatic and somatovisceral issue. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the importance of the viscerosomatic issue and the knowledge of this issue for correct differential diagnosis. The thesis shows the differences between somatic pain and true visceral pain. Referred pain arises in visceral organs and it refers to the somatic tissues. The thesis contains a description of these viscerosomatic relationships, their neurophysiological basis and referral to the central nervous system. A large part is devoted to a review of knowledge about the visceral patterns. It should help to detect the presence of visceral problem of the patient. In the text there are references to the literature, which carefully describe various visceral patterns. The individual organs or systems are assigned with the other reflex changes that have occurred in experience with patients. This thesis presents 11 mostly foreign case reports and 2 research studies in plain terms with...

Thoracic Outlet Syndrom
Chasáková, Ludmila ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Babková, Lenka (referee)
Thoracic outlet syndrome is a syndrome involving compression at the superior thoracic outlet, wherein excess pressure placed on a neurovascular bundle passing between the anterior scalene and middle scalene muscles. According to the predominant symptoms we can distinguish neurogenic, arterial and venous syndrome. Treatment is either the surgical removal of structures causing compression or conservative measures aimed at decompressing the oppressed structures through functional activation of surrounding area. The thesis presents an overview of available findings on this issue, followed by case report of a patient with venous TOS.
Use surface electromyography in the clinical practice
Dobisová, Anna ; Crhonková, Radka (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
Surface electromyography is a non-invasive method of examination. Surface electrodes localized on the skin above the muscle record action potentials of particular muscles' motor units. Acquired EMG recordings enable to assess muscle activity, muscle fatigue or recruitment of particular muscles during the motion (timing) and muscle coordination. Modern EMG devices are compatible with a scale of sensors that record other biosignals and are able to synchronize them with EMG records. That's why SEMG is applied in neurology, physiotherapy, ergonomics, biomechanics, orthopaedics, prosthetics, sport and in other spheres. As a non-invasive method it has its advantages, but of course its limits as well. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Postpoliomyelitis syndrome - etiology and RHB treatment options
Mejsnarová, Alena ; Demeková, Júlia (advisor) ; Kobesová, Alena (referee)
The bachelor thesis called "Postpoliomyelitis syndrome - etiology and RHB treatment options" deals with issues of this illness, officially recognized as a separate diagnosis until less than thirty years ago. The postpoliomyelitis syndrome can develop in individuals who have experienced poliomyelitis, an infectious viral disease affecting cells of the spinal anterior horns, in their childhood or youth. The main symptoms of this syndrome are: muscle weakness, increased fatigue, muscle and joint pain. They usually appear after a period lasting at least 15 years after primary infection, during which the health state of these individuals is relatively stable. The thesis presents a wide range of pathophysiological processes responsible for the etiology of these so-called late effects of polio. It also deals with the clinical picture, diagnosis and reflects the mental condition of the affected individuals. A large part of this thesis is addressed to therapy of postpolio syndrome, especially rehabilitation, which is an important part of comprehensive care of these patients. It is a literature retrieval of available, mostly foreign sources, dealing with this topic. Also one case report is described at the end of the theoretical part. It includes medical history, examination and treatment of a patient with...
Rehabilitation nursing in intensive care
Bořilová, Lucie ; Demeková, Júlia (referee) ; Mrákava, Vlastimil (advisor)
Rehabilitative nursing during intensive care is a way of active nursing, when a nurse is trying to avoid complications and secondary changes with help of all available means. It is a part of job of all nurses no matter which branch of hospital they work at ergo even the nurses of intensive care. It is a part of complex nursing care which includes positioning, manipulation with the patient and verticalization of the patient. Another parts of rehabilitative nursing are breathing rehabilitation, self-support practice, passive and active practice. Purpose of this labour was to find out what is the attitude of nurses who work at intensive care departments to rehabilitative nursing, what is their knowledge about this topic and if they position the immobile patients correctly. In teoretical part reader can learn elementary terms related to intensive care, nursing at intensive care department, rehabilitation, rehabilitative nursing. We define what immobilitating syndrom is and what parts of rehabilitative nursing are applicable in real life. In practical part we utilize the results gathered with help of questionnaire and observation. In the first part of research we probed if nurses have positive attitude to rehabilitative nursing. Results showed that nurses have positive attitude to rehabilitative nursing. When...
The effect of incentive spirometry and postural loading on activity ofvrespiratory muscles
Sakaláš, Radovan ; Demeková, Júlia (referee) ; Truc, Michal (advisor)
Master thesis "The effect of incentive spirometry and postural lability on activity of respiratory muscles" deals mainly with electromyographic activity of respiratory muscles while using incentive spirometry. In the first part the following aspects of breathing are covered: kinesiology, pattern, work, and the respiratory and postural function of respiratory muscles. The next section describes the main types of incentive spirometers and indications and contraindications of their usage. Furthermore, the thesis defines neurophysiological basics needed for electromyographic usage and the influence on its signal quality. The main part of the thesis deals with the issues of incentive spirometer usage and postural lability and the effects on activity of the respiratory muscles. The final section suggests recommendations regarding the suitable position for effective respiratory-postural function training using incentive spirometry. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
