This master thesis deals with self organized Mesh network. It describes routing and particular routing protocols, which are used in these networks. The thesis deals with Mesh network QoS assurance. Analysis and theoretical background of Mesh networks, routing and router protocols are included in the first chapter. Basic models of assuring Quality of Service are also described. Those are Best Effort, IntServ and DiffServ. Second chapter describes the devices used in the specific Mesh network topology - Trospos 5210 MetroMesh router produced by Motorola Canopy. Basic settings and properties required to establish a Mesh network are described. Next part of the thesis is the design implementation, which involves creation and configuration of the Mesh Network. Network configuration consisting of two Gateway points and afterwards behaviors of the network in a steady state versus one gate failure are compared. Furthermore, implementation of QoS according to components that support two types of QoS assurance regarding type of bandwidth reservation and defined traffic classes. In conclusion, the thesis describes measurement methods of QoS parameters for chosen applications, evaluation and comparison of measurement results for both types of Quality of Service assurance.
Tool for statistical evaluation of the simulation process of JSimlib4 library
Pivoda, Štefan ; Míča, Ivan (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with the analysis of simulation of computer networks. A statistical tool was designed for evaluating a communication between stations in the computer network. JSimlib4 Java library was used for the simulation of computer networks. It is a lightweight but robust simulation library, designed for creating simple or even quite complex simulation models of distributed systems. The Statistical tool was written in Java programming language and developed in an EasyEclipse integrated development environment. It was designed as an Eclipse Rich Client Platform application. Eclipse Rich Client Platform is a relatively new technology, which has a lot of favorable properties. The Statistical tool can be divided into 3 parts: • creating a log file, • creating a filter, • creating/showing an output. The Statistical tool creates records into a log file during every communication between stations. This log file contains a comment on the first line. This comment describes the definition of records. Every record contains 2 IP addresses with the used ports at the beginning of the record, then the time, the amount of bytes, the protocol and the direction of communication. Every item in the record is divided by a colon. The Statistical tool can evaluate a communication between stations. At first, it has to define a filter according to which it will assess the suitable stations. It can be created either by adding IP addresses or names of the stations onto a list on a workbench. Filter can be loaded from a file that already includes these IP addresses and other information too. After defining the filter, the Statistical tool can create either a diagram or a file. At first, the Statistical tool reads the log file line by line and compares the IP addresses, which were added to the filter with the IP addresses in a log file. When the Statistical tool finds a complying IP address, it reads the whole line and adds an amount of bytes defined on that line to the final diagram that is shown after reading the whole log file. In the case of finding 2 or more complying IP addresses that sent the data at the same time, an amount of these transfers is calculated by adding them and this amount is then shown in a diagram. After reading the whole log file a diagram or a file is shown at the bottom of the window. The diagram is created by a Java library JFreechart and it shows the amount of transferred bytes. The x-axis represents the time and the y-axis represents the amount of transferred bytes. The created file is for next work with the calculated data and it can be loaded for example by Matlab or Octave. The first line in the file represents the time for axis x and the second one represents the amount of transferred bytes for axis y. These lines are followed by a command "plot(x,y)" for drawing a diagram.
Optimization of network position prediction
Pospíšil, Petr ; Pfeifer, Václav (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
This work is about position prediction in network, it is focused to find Landmark closest to the Host in the network (with lowest distance vector). The algorithm is based on GNP system. In terms of GNP system simulation was selected method for mathematical part of position prediction. The method was Simplex Downhill. The designed algorithm was implemented in Java. In the first step chose Host continent by meassuring the distance vector. In next step is selected nearest part in the continent. In conclusion estimate Host its position and then closest Landmark. Results from this work is important for designing TTP protocol. The verdict is that the GNP can be used for TTP, but Landmarks must be located in uniform density.
Host distance measurement using ICMP protocol in IP networks
Fojtová, Lucie ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
Current internet more and more often faces the problem of the right definition of distance between the single hosts. The knowledge of this quantity influences the areas of the optimal lay-out of overlay multicast networks, the right selection of peer-to-peer network participant, or the simple decision of the end user: which one of the nearest mirrors to use for downloading datas. The nearest one doesn't have to mean the nearest in geographical point of view - the distance on Internet is usually expressed by quantities as latency or bandwidth. All these examples have got the saving of bandwidth in common and therefore economical saving. The methods of host position prediction in networks work on the basis of measuring latency parameter. The tools for measuring of this parameter will be set up in this thesis and at the same time it will be shown how geographical distance and latency correspond with each other.
TTP protocol for managing hierarchy trees of RTCP feedback channel
Müller, Jakub ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
TTP protocol for managing hierarchy trees of the RTCP feedback channel represents the mechanism for transferring the big amount of data from end users via the “narrow” feedback channel. We are not speaking about thousands of users but about millions of users, which are using services like IPTV. The method of a data summarization is used for this purpose in selected network nodes. The summarized message is transferred and summarized again in higher levels of the hierarchical tree. Both methods allow reducing the amount of data and help to increase information content transferred via the feedback channel. Finding of the correct end user position in a network is also very important aspect. The user must be able to find the closest summarization node with this information and starts sending out the messages to this node for processing. There are several methods for constructing and managing the asynchronous feedback channel that are introduced in this work.
