The Dynamics of the Spiritual Thirst in Therese of Lisieux and Mother Theresa of Calcutta
Lachmanová, Marie ; Lachmanová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Brož, Jaroslav (referee)
Dynamics of spiritual thirst is an expression of the exchange of love between God and human being, which is the basic motivation for any Christian ministry. When a man encounters Jesus' thirst for the salvation of men, a desire to respond to this love is enkindled in his heart, most of all by taking part in collaborating in the salvation of souls. The deeper is the unity of the soul with Christ, the more she takes part in His salvific thirst, i. e. she is consumed by the desire to calm His thirst working at the salvation of souls. Both the intercessory prayer of Theresa of Lisieux, who lived hidden cloistered life, and Mother Theresa's worldwide mission of merciful love came out of the same source. It means that the dynamics of spiritual thirst is the deepest motivation of any Christian apostolic work and ministry. Key words Spiritual thirst, merciful love, Holy Spirit, salvation of souls, apostolic work

Hájek, Milan ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
The Parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14:7-24 This bachelor thesis deals with the behavior of Jesus on the banquet while invited by a Pharisee. The Master communicates to present guests rules of right behavior (i.e. an objective look on one's own qualities, selfless assistance to those who are in need etc) that lead to the God's Kingdom. The way to this goal of earthly life is characterized by humility, listening to the Holy Spirit and full surrender into God's arms. God invites to Himself every human being that needs to prepare himself thoroughly by doing works of mercy. The banquet in this parable is compared to the Kingdom of God in which a man will experience the true and never lasting beatitude in contemplating God's face on the hardly describable place where no eye has seen, nor ear heard, what God had prepared for those who love Him.1 The final chapter of the work presents one of several possibilities how to apply the parable on the banquet in pastoral ministry. Keywords Banquet, the Kingdom of God, humility, mercy 1 Cf. 1 Kor 2,9.
Jesus, the Ligth of the world, opens eyes to a blind man (John 9)
Brtvová, Martina ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
The Diploma thesis "Jesus, the Light of the world, opens eyes to a blind man (John 9)" first presents and comments the structure of chapter 9 of the John's Gospel. The structure is divided into smaller together logically connected units that will be consequently elaborated in details (Chapter 1). Jesus came into the world as the Light. His concrete presence can be observed in singular cases of meetings of individual persons with Him as the Light. The example of it is the healing a man born blind. Jesus enlightens him, i.e. He brings him out of physical and spiritual darkness to the full light that is He himself (Chapter 2). A light in the Gospel of John is always related to Jesus. Jesus himself is the Light. This idea is presented in the Fourth Gospel as one of the principal vision of author's Christology (Chapter 3). Jesus expects that on this revelation of the light will be given an answer by a man. This answer is presented in the Fourth Gospel as a faith. One of typical johannine features of a faith is the relation between "seeing" and "believing" (Chapter 4). The whole Diploma thesis demonstrates that the motive of light, introduced already in the Prologue, is an important interpretative key to the Jesus ministry in words and deeds. Keywords Gospel of John, light, darkness, blindness, faith
