Passive heat dissipation using carbon-based material
Genco, Ondřej ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The content of the diploma thesis is evaluation of the usability of carbon composites in the space industry. The aim of this work is to assess whether carbon composites can find application in mechanical systems of passive thermal protection of artificial objects. Model examples demonstrate the principle of operation of selected passive thermal protection. The evaluation is realized based on the results of thermal analysis. Analytical formulas from field theory of heat transfer are used as a calculation method. The diploma thesis consists from two parts. The theoretical part briefly describes the mechanisms of heat transfer, selected types of passive thermal protection and properties and applications of carbon composites. The practical part consists of the assignment, calculation and evaluation of three examples. The results show that carbon composites can compete with commonly used materials for specific requirements.
Electrostatic precipitator for wood firing stoves
Brázda, Kryštof ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
The presented diploma thesis deals with the design of an electrostatic precipitator for a domestic automatic wood fuel boiler. The individual chapters describe the products of the combustion process, the principles of charging dust particles, describe existing patents related to electrostatic precipitators, commercial electrostatic precipitators and the last part of the work calculates a mathematical model, according to which previously designed and evaluated separator variants were designed and evaluated. Based on the results, the optimal variant of the electrostatic precipitator designed for a domestic boiler is then selected.
Hydrogen as a promising energy carrier
Pinkas, Marek ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
In recent years hydrogen has become an integral part of modern energetics. Although there are still many unresolved barriers and technological shortcomings in hydrogen energetics, its importance is expected to grow even more in the coming years. These facts were the motivation for writing this thesis. This bachelor thesis deals with hydrogen as a medium for energy storage and transmission as well as research about its properties, storage, production and use. In this thesis are described and compared various methods of long-term energy storage that are currently used. Presented are various traceable hydrogen pilot projects.
High temperature coatings for gas turbine blades
Chýlek, Radomír ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is the overview of technology of high temperature coatings for gas turbine blades. The familiarization with properties of individual coatings, their capabilities to increase the blades durability and their resistance to damage and temperature influences are emphasized in this work. The potential of significant increase of gas turbines efficiency using different types of coating and cooling of the blades was evaluated in this thesis. Additionally the individual coating techniques are described and compared. Last but not least, this thesis contains closer description of the state-of-the-art thermal barrier coatings including the characteristics required for the following computing part. The computing part deals with calculation of heat transfer through the blade. The conclusion is dedicated to the future use of the coatings from the author's perspective.
Storage of natural gas in hydrates
Petr, Jan ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with storage of natural gas in hydrates, forming of hydrate, its transportation and storage. Within the calculation part, three hydrate forming reactors are compared. According to the paramters used in the calculations, a reactor is designed. Basic drawing documentation is also available. The final calculations focus on the nominal evaporation of the storage tank.
Thermoelectric cooler construction

Bachelor thesis will concern description of Peltier modules and detailed description of thermoelectric phenomena’s on which is principle of these modules based on. Thermoelectric materials and their properties will be mentioned as well as different applications of Peltier modules. Heat losses of the cooler will be described. Onwards it describes mathematical model of Peltier modules and their coefficient of performance. Also mounting of modules, types of power supply and types of regulation are mentioned. Experimental part consists of calculation and designing of cooling assembly.
Low power thermoelectric generator
Lokaj, Jakub ; Pospíšil, Jiří (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the description the physical nature of the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy and construction of thermoelectric generator. The work is divided into a theoretical part, practical part includes the design and experimental measurement constructed device and final assessment of thesis. The theoretical part describes the thermoelectric phenomena, properties of materials used for the manufacture of thermocouple, construction and electrical parameters of thermoelectric modules and applications of thermoelectric generators including a description of parts of which help to complete overall device. The practical part includes the design and construction of low power thermoelectric generator and experimental measurement connected device with the calculation comparing the predicted performance. In conclusion, besides to assessment thesis also outlines suggestions for further improvements the device.
Thermonuclear fusion for power production
Hladík, Jakub ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
The aim of this barchelor thesis is to acquaint the reader by the means of research with the principles of thermonuclear fusion and its discovery. It also contains the principles of mantaining the fusion, and the types of nuclear reactors using the thermonuclear fusion and their utilisation in power engineering.
Metane hydrate extraction
Hanzlík, Martin ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
Thesis describes the chemical and physical properties of methane hydrate, the presence and location of sites in various types of sediment. Goal of this work is to evaluate the proposed production methods of methane hydrate from the technological, logistical and economic aspects. With the technologies currently available, the best production method is depressurization. There is a high probability that in the next decade it will be used for the production of natural gas from methane hydrate. The conclusion is evaluating areas with high potential for industrial production.
Cooperation of heat pump and photovoltaic power plant
Gregorovičová, Eva ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis assesses the heating system of a family house with a heat pump, which cooperates with photovoltaic power plant with storage heat and electricity. The theoretical part describes the main components of the system – heat pump, photovoltaic system, electricity accumulator and heat accumulator. The practical part calculates the energy requirements of the building and describes the proposed system, including the scheme. Based on the calculations and graphical representation, the system is evaluated in the balance sheet in individual months. Finally, it is economically compared with an electric boiler heating.
