The Cooperation of the State and NGOs on the MEDEVAC / Ukraine Program in 2014

This diploma thesis focuses on the possible cooperation between the state and NGOs on the program of medical evacuation MEDEVAC during the Ukrainian conflict in 2014. The aim of this study is to bring a coherent view on the MEDEVAC program and mainly to look into a relation between the state and NGOs which provide services to the state so they play irreplaceable role in this interaction, all through the analysis of interview with particular representatives. The study also focuses on the motivation, which both parties are entering into the relation, and advantages which the collaboration brings. The discovered findings from the research and evaluated achieved aims are placed in the conclusion of the thesis.
Activism in youth political organizations

The thesis focuses on the activism of youth political organizations in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to monitor their activities between 2013 and 2017 due to activism in general but also to political parties. A protest event analysis based on document analysis was created to monitor activities. The second type of research data was interviews with representatives of youth organizations. This type develops results from protest event analysis. Research has shown differences in attitude to activism between left-wing and right-wing organizations. The left-wing focused on protest more than right-wing organization and also often cooperated with non-profit organizations. While right-wing organizations are quite active, they prefer institutional channel and orderly decency before protest arena. Youth organizations have little to do with events before elections. Though they also support political parties or protest against them, they have realized most of the events because of their own agendas. Most organizations appreciate mutual cooperation in protests, with one exception when cooperation is rejected from both sides.
Deepening democracy at the local level / Civic participation in Utrecht

This thesis focuses on the topic of active citizenship in democratic societies. An emphasis is placed on the clarification of the role of the citizen as an engaged participant in the political process at the local level. This issue is contextualized within the theory of democracy, which legitimacy is fulfilled by the citizen participation. The empirical part is devoted to the research of the citizen participation in the Dutch city of Utrecht, where the way of cooperation between citizens and public officers was investigated in the process of public policy making. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the form and the contribution of the civic participation in Utrecht. Policy advocacy of nonprofit organizations focused on parental care in Czech republic

Diploma thesis with the title Advocacy activities of the non-profit organisations focused on foster care in Czech Republic describes the political and citizen (indirect) advocacy, the collaboration in advocacy and the analysis of the law, which regulates foster care in Czech Republic and the documents of the organisations. I collect data through the interview proces with the informants from non-profit organisations: Rozum a Cit z.s., Lumos Czech Republic and Asociace Dítě a Rodina z.s. I used Law 89/2012 and 401/2012, which changes Law 359/1999 on child protection, to detect changes in the legislation. Diploma thesis has two parts: theoretical part, where are definitions and theories, and methodological part.
Development of support for integration of migrants within non-governmental non-profit organizations between 1989 and 2004

The integration of migrants into society and the role of non-governmental non-profit organizations in this process is a highly discussed topic. This diploma thesis deals with the development of support for integration of migrants by these organizations in order to describe and analyze their activities. The thesis focuses on the specific period from November 1989 to the beginning of the year 2004 (before the Czech Republic joined the European Union). This period is characterized by gradually creating integration and migration policies of the state, which had to respond to the first arrival of migrants (refugees) to the Czech lands. For the purposes of the research of the diploma thesis, individual projects of non-governmental non- profit organizations were examined with the aim of finding out the topics and target groups they were dealing with, but also who and how supported them in order to trace certain development trends in defined years. Volunteering of Religious Association's Members as a Form of Civic Involvement

The aim of this master thesis is to clarify how volunteers civically engage in religious association. The theoretical part explains volunteering as a form of civil engagement in civil society. It also shows connection between religion and volunteering and it presents basic Christian values. The qualitative empiric part answers investigative questions which are focused on how volunteers engage inside of their association as well as outside of it, how they perceive their own volunteer activity and which values in volunteering they consider as important. All the obtained information given through interviews, participant observation and annual reports is finally summarized to the conclusion. The theory of voluntary failure by L. M. Salamon. Case study of spolek Naděje.

The goal of this paper is to identify four types of voluntary failure by L. M. Salamone in Czech public-serving non-governmental organizations (NGO's) and to determine extend of their display by studying of the development of one particular organization and presence and dynamics of these failures. The paper is a case study of the NGO spolek Naděje which mostly works in the field of social services across the area of the Czech Republic. This organization is examined by predefined indicators which were chosen for all four types of voluntary failure. These are philanthropic insufficiency, philanthropic particularism, philanthropic paternalism and philanthropic amateurism. The paper consists of five parts. The theoretical part introduces the key concepts and theories for this paper, fundamental definitions of the civil sector, theory of the state and market failure, a role of the civil sector and brief characteristics of public-serving NGO's. Last but not least there are described four types of voluntary failure of Salamone. The next part presents the methodology of the study for which it was chosen strategy of the research, i.e. case study of one public-serving NGO, and research indicators. Community foundations and their specifics

Today, community foundations undoubtedly play a significant role in building community philanthropy and strengthening civil society through civic engagement. They are unique by their specific connection to the community, ie. to a particular geographically defined area, where this foundation financially supports activities, events, individuals or groups in the form of grants. These grants provide from a collection of donated funds from many donors and the impact on the community is that it addresses its diverse problems and needs. Thanks to this collection and the endowment can address these needs in the long run. In the submitted diploma thesis, is based on analysis of professional literature, the specifics of community foundations are derived and based on the analysis of the documents of the foundations, it is shown how many Czech community foundations correspond to this ideal.
