BALOUN, Ingrid
Aim: The first two aims are focused on "pasportizeace" of social services for families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and children with cerebral palsy in the South-Bohemian region. The content of third and forth aim is finding out the life quality of families with chidren with Autism Spectrum Disorders and families with children with children cerebral palsy. The fifth and sixth aim is to find out the accessibility of social services for families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and for families with children with children cerebral palsy. The seventh and last aim is to create a plan for improving life quality for families and their children (families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and with children with children with cerebral palsy). Way of reaching the aim: The combined research was chosen which is combination of quantitative and quliatative research strategy. The quantitative part of the research is realized by support of two types of questionnairies. First questionnaire is so called basic questionnairie which is to find out basic data information about family and child. The other questionnaires were focused on measuring life quality. The life quality measuring was done by support of questionnaires PedsQL?. There were three modules of this questionnaire used: PedsQL? 4.0 Generic Core Scales, PedsQL? 2.0 Family Impact module and PedsQL? 3.0 Cerebral Palsy Module. The set was created by total of 115 families, from that 34 families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, 42 families with children with children cerebral palsy and 39 families with healthy children (as a control group). There was used half-structured interview in the quality part with the same parents with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and parents with childre with children cerebral palsy. Objectives 1 and 2: From the passporting of services is clear that there is a lack of social services that could be used by families with children with autism spectrum disorder. In addition, existing social services have full capacities. Objectives 3 and 4: In the quantitative part of the research, the evaluation of the PedsQL? 2.0 Family Impact Module, 4.0 generic Core Scales and 3.0 Cerebral Palsy module questionnaires revealed that the opinions of children and parents are generally the same, only in some areas parents are more critical. The results also showed that the quality of life according to PedsQLTM 4.0 generic module in children with cerebral palsy is significantly lower than the quality of life of children from the control sample of the intact population, both according to the evaluation of them and their parents. Furthermore, it was found that the quality of life of families of children with cerebral palsy is also significantly lower according to PedsQLTM 2.0 than in families of healthy children, while they do not differ in the time horizon. From the point of view of PedsQL? 3.0 cerebral palsy, it can be noted that the biggest problem for children with cerebral palsy is in the area of daily activities. Objectives 5 and 6: Families have to wait a long time for vacancies in social services. There is a lack of services in the South Bohemian Region that could be used by families with children with autism spectrum disorder. These families lack all services from early care to residential services. Families of children with cerebral palsy mainly lack residential services, such as weekly hospitals. Objective 7: The researcher proposes the establishment of centers that would use coordinated rehabilitation. However, the basis is the enactment of coordinated rehabilitation in the CzechRepublic. Furthermore, psychological support is important, which should start after the birth of a child with a disability, or immediately after the discovery of a disability.
Specific Methods of Social Work with Families in the Course of the Exercise of Parental Responsibility after Divorce
BALOUN, Ingrid
The diploma thesis deals with the specific methods of social work with a family during the post-divorce child custody trial. The goal of my thesis is to find out what methods are applied by social workers during their work with families at child custody trial. I stated the research inquiry as follows: what are the barriers identifed by social workers during their work with families undergoing a post-divorce child custody trial? As for the empirical part of the thesis, I adopted the method of qualitative research in the form of partially structured interviews with social workers. The interviewed sample consists of twelve social workers who were at the time engaged in post-divorce child custody trials. Two main critierions were set for selecting the twelve interviewees - the first criterion being that the social workers must be currently working with families during a post-divorce child custody trial, and the second being that all the social workers have been working for an institution for social and legal protection of children for at least one year. The research has brought the following outcomes: the social workers in question mostly adopt the task-oriented approach as well as the anti-oppressive approach. During a conversation with clients the most commonly used method is active listening. With children, it would be the drawing method. On my way to reaching the goal of my thesis I identified a social workers related problem: half the interviewees did not know what methods there are in the field of social work. Most interviewees said that the biggest barrier in their work is the client who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs and also one that is aggressive. The thesis identified some demerits of social workers as well as their seniors, for instance the failing to follow the norms, and could, hopefully help them to realize these flaws and retrieve them in the future.
Bullying on the primary school
BALOUN, Ingrid
In my bachelor's work I address the issues of bullying at elementary schools. I focus mainly on the parents' and teachers' attidudes to the bullied children, bullying prevention and the impacts of bullying on pupils' psyche. In the first part of my bachelor's work I introduce the theoretical background. I describe the important concepts which are connected with bullying. I specify the term of bullying, criminal responsibility, who can take part in bullying, kinds of bullying, its progress and consequences. I also describe one of the most important things related to bullying which is its prevention. I address one of the the newest kinds of bullying as well cyberbullying, which has emerged due to the technical progress recently. In the second part I present my own research. The goal of my bachelor's work is to describe the dynamics of bullying, find out about kinds of bullying and what reasons lead the bully to bullying the others. I also talk about how the bullied children cope with bullying and its impacts, how the elementary schools prevent bullying and handle its impacts. I have applied three research questions to accomplish the stated goals: "What kind of attitude and help do parents and teachers offer to bullied children?", "What are the impacts of bullying to pupil's psyche?". I have put eight respondents in the research itself and interviewed them in a semi-structured interview. The research revealed that parents of the bullied victims had a very good attitude to bullying. The parents did their best to solve the situation as quick as possible and to give the most possible support to their bullied child. On contrary, some teachers had the opposite attitude. They were not willing to cooperate in solving bullying. However, the research reveals that not all the teachers were uncooperative. One of the basic components in bullying solution should be its prevention. However, as you can find out in the practical part of this work, prevention at elementary schools is minimal, as the interviewed respondents reflected. The answer to the third research question was identical. Bullying left psychological consequences in all the respondents. Both interviewed victims of bullying and bully have carried the psychological consequences up to now.
