Fire test on building before demolition
Chlouba, J. ; Wald, F. ; Zíma, Pavel ; Štujberová, M.
The paper describes a fire experiment carried out in June of 2006 on an industrial building in the area of Mittal Steel Company in Ostrava. The aim of the fire test was to broaden the knowledge of behaviour of partly fire-protected steel frame in fire.
Hardness distribution mapping in low carbon pipeline steel using semiautomatic evaluation of Vickers indentation measurement
Doktor, T. ; Fenclová, N. ; Kytýř, Daniel ; Valach, Jaroslav
This paper deals with evaluation of hardness fields using Vickers indentation device and a semi-automatic software tool for local hardness distribution mapping. Spec- imens from low carbon pipeline steels were investigated. Dense grids of Vickers imprints were created on the specimens’ surface. Image data of the surface were acquired by a high resolution flatbed scanner with resolution 6400 dpi. The imprints were measured using an custom-developed image processing tool, and from the obtained geometrical characteristics local hardness values were derived. From the local hardness values and their coordinates the hardness field in the whole specimen was interpolated.
Large-scale micro-finite element simulation of compressive behavior of trabecular bone microstructure
Jiroušek, Ondřej ; Zlámal, Petr
Microstructural finite element analysis has become a standard technique for evaluation of mechanical properties of trabecular bone. Due to the high complexity of the trabecular bone microstructure, the FE models have a very large number of elements (about 1 million elements per cubic cm in 50 μm3 resolution). To perform FE analysis of the microstructural FE models based on micro-CT scanning of whole bone samples (e.g. vertebral bodies) it is needed to solve 107 -- 108 equations. This article deals with comparison of approaches using voxel-based microstructural FE models to calculate the overall mechanical properties of trabecular bone.

Relation of flutter derivatives and indicial functions in linear aero-elastic models
Náprstek, Jiří ; Pospíšil, Stanislav
Double degree of freedom (DDOF) linear systems are frequently used to model the aero-elastic response of slender prismatic systems until the first critical state is reached. Relevant mathematical models appearing in literature differ in principle by way of composition of aero-elastic forces. This criterion enables to sort them roughly in three groups: (i) neutral models - aero-elastic forces are introduced as suitable constants independent from excitation frequency and time; (ii) flutter derivatives - they respect the frequency dependence of aero-elastic forces; (iii) indicial functions - they are defined as kernels of convolution integrals formulating aero-elastic forces as functions of time. The paper tries to put all three groups together on one common basis to demonstrate their linkage and to eliminate gaps in mathematical formulations between them.
Improvement of fatigue life of steel orthotropic desks with carbon fibre reinforcement composites
Urushadze, Shota ; Frýba, Ladislav ; Pirner, Miroš
Orthotropic decks are progressive structural elements which often occur in civil and mechanical engineering. Strengthening of construction with use of external reinforcement materials manufactured from composite fibers in one of many ways to improve static and dynamic behaviour of structures.
Risk Example of Passive Pressure according to Procedures of EC 7-1 and ČSN 73 0037
Koudelka, Petr
The paper targets a problem of theoretical base of the Annex C of EC 7-1 a ČSN 73 0037 comparing instruction calculation results to results of a physical experiment E5/0,2, i.e. pressure at rest and passive pressure of ideally non-cohesive sand.
Variability of bearing resistance properties of soils

Evaluation the quality of material and safety of gas pipeline 2 x DN 500 - Praha Měcholupy
Šperl, Martin ; Gajdoš, Lubomír
Assessment of quality and grade of the gas pipeline steel, together with assessment of reliability, integrity, and fracture analysis.
Damage identification of structures using the dynamic response
Urushadze, Shota ; Pirner, Miroš ; Frýba, Ladislav
The identification is a process which presents the characteristics of a structure. It uses the dynamic response of a structure due to an impulse by standard load. The response uses the forced vibration and the method can also estimate the fatigue life of a structure. The paper presents a summary of the experiments in a laboratory as well as in situ.
