Oligarchization in Bulgaria after 1989
Žaloudková, Klára ; Kocián, Jiří (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the process of oligarchization of Bulgaria after 1989. The collapse of the communist regime had created the opportunities for the emergence of a small group of ultra-wealthy citizens who had been to a varying degree involved in the process of policy decision-making therefore one can speak of oligarchy. The aim of the study is to offer a complex insight into the Bulgarian oligarchy in the years 1989-1997 while using the theoretical perspective of an American political scientist Jeffrey Winters. The other objective is to apply the parameters established by Winters for the purpose of the research of this phenomenon to the Bulgarian case in order to further develop his typology of oligarchies. The thesis put Bulgarian oligarchy into the broader context of the structural changes that took place in the country within the examined period. Based upon the analysis of the strategies for wealth defence, the thesis then presents the uniqueness of Bulgarian oligarchy. The central finding of this study is that, within one country, the oligarchs can adopt diverse strategies for wealth defence and thus one cannot speak of oligarchy in singular. The main contribution then lies in the introduction of two new types of oligarchy: aggressive and moderate.
The Greek Migrants to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland after 2009 as an example of the Brain Drain Phenomenon
Žaloudková, Klára ; Karasová, Nikola (advisor) ; Kocián, Jiří (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on one of the possible form of human migration, and that is brain drain. This phenomenon is demonstrated by the case study on the migration of the young highly skilled Greeks from Greece to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland after 2009. The main aim of this thesis is to examine the reasons for emigration of young highly skilled Greeks, and to investigate why they have chosen the UK as their destination. Firstly, the objective push and pull factors are identified by using the existing literature and the statistical data. Secondly, the subjective factors based on the qualitative research using semi-structural interviews conducted by the author of this thesis are introduced, and then compared to the objective ones. The key finding of this thesis is that young highly skilled Greeks had considered the possibility of their personal and professional development as the key determinant to decide whether to stay or to move abroad. The prospects for the personal and professional development are rather bleak in Greece, and thus they have moved to the UK where the prospect seem to be better.

Žaloudková, Klára ; Klimeš, Ivan (advisor) ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (referee)
Film and TV School (FAMU) is one of the three faculties of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The Academy educates its students in the field of cinema, television, digital media and communication. It was founded on the 28th November 1946. In my work I have focused on the period after the Velvet Revolution in 1989 to 1993 in which FAMU was seeking its own new identity and shape. I have decided to border this period by the year 1993 because of the changes in legislation. The new Act 273/1993 provided some new perspectives on production, distribution and archivation of audiovisual works which led into the cancellation of the state monopoly in this field. At first I have focused on the history of the faculty and the most important moments which led to changes. I have listed the professors of the most important creative departments so I was able to provide a more detailed analysis of the key topics. One of the most important parts of my thesis is FAMU during the years of the Velvet Revolution because it is the period that brought the biggest changes. I have followed in providing the analysis of the faculty after the transformation including the breakdown of the staff and the appraisal of the inner structure. My sources were film literature and film magazines and also my interviews with the contemporary...

DCP and Change Distribution
Žaloudková, Klára ; OUKROPEC, Petr (advisor) ; Horák, Petr (referee)
The goal of this paper is to inform about the changes in film industry that have come with digitalization. Simplified- change distribution after DCP entrance. The development of digitalization took gradually ten years. There was a great discussion about digitalization, because it involved social and media area and telecast at all. After then, digitalization was not a choice, it became a necessity. Digitalization burst after 2009 in its full strength and this was because of increasing popularity of 3D movies, which speeded up the process. I write about the anticipated trends in the future.
