Nurses personality in the context of coping with stress

The main pillar of the thesis is a qualitative research on the stress acting on the nurses and their coping strategies. In the Theoretical part we give a short introduction of the issues of dying and death. Furthermore, palliative care, nursing care of the dying, pain and ethics in health care. The empirical part of the thesis deals with a qualitative survey investigation in the form of semistructured interview, which is aimed on general nurses, and the mapping of their point of view over the issue. The Data was processed on the basis of open coding. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify and assess the perspective of nurses on the issue of death and dying at different sites, which they individually describe.

It indicates an adverse effect on the human organism with potentially the most common diseases which can occur in alcoholics. The thesis presents treatment options and follow aftercare programs. This work is based mainly on the research part, which consists of two surveys. The first part consists of quantitative research, using a questionnaire of our own design and world-renowned standardized questionnaire WHOQOL-BREF. The second part is developed using qualitative research, which is applied using a standardized interview with six respondents. The data obtained from this research clearly indicates a positive change of absteining alcoholic after treatment, and in the physical, mental and social.

The theoretical part describes the concept of social support and possible sources of social support. Further, it highlights the positive and negative aspects of social support human life. The second chapter deals with the professional social support that general nurses in the exercise of his profession. The concept of professional social support related to external conditions that have nurses available, ie., they are given in the work environment. In the empirical part, a combination of qualitative and quantitative surveys. Research on social support, and how to support nurses perceive, evaluate and use is made by semi- structured interviews, these are complemented by a questionnaire surfy. The obtained data is processed using the phenomenological description, open coding and triangulation.

This Bachelor's pursuit discusses the Burnout syndrome of a nurse on intensive care ward. It shows why the enthusiasm of a young nurse disappears so fast although she has the spark to start with. In the theoretical part the Burnout syndrome is defined, the cause of emergence, its stages, the utterences and prevention. The base of the empirical part stands on the quntitative research of the permanent exhaustion of the medical staff. It refers to the connection between the Burnout syndrome and the working environment, interpersonal relationships and private life of an ordinary nurse. In the research samples are nurses, working on five different wards within one hospital in Prague. The research was done through two different questionnaires: standardized and half- structured.

The nurse personality is analysed including changing roles and competences. The empirical part includes qualitative research based on interviews of two groups of nurses. The first group is senior nurses who worked prior to the end of socialism and the latter commensed work after 2005. Each group includes 4 interviews. This dissertation analyses nurse's opinions on the profession, changes and the effects on private and family life.
