Úvodem představí prameny, z nichž bude vycházet, dále nastíní historický vývoj tibetského oděvu a jeho sepětí s historickým a kulturním vývojem Tibetu. Pozornost bude věnovat zejména otázkám, do jaké míry oděv - či jeho jednotlivé složky - odráží etnicitu, příslušnost k určité společenské vrstvě, další dimenze společenského statusu (např. svobodná dívka a vdaná žena), případně také tomu, do jaké míry se v oděvu odrážejí např. náboženské představy. Závěrem budou také představena a popsána regionální specifika odívání a zdobení na historickém území Tibetu.

Transgender identity
Kováriková, Juliána ; Skupnik, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Štěpánová, Irena (referee)
The main purpose of the present diploma thesis is to introduce the transgender identity as a newly emerging lifestyle and political activism of transpeople. Because the transgenderism has been formed in opposition to the dominant medical discourse of transsexuality, it is necessary to include the transsexual stand of view which transgender people are defining against. I regard the transsexuality and transgenderism as two different discourses forming new different identity categories, having specific impact on lives of people they are naming. I focus mainly on the impact of different concepts of sex, gender and sexuality on formation of specific shapes of these ideologies. In the empirical part, I am applying my mind on the narrative construction of transgender identity. Through some parts of interview with a person diagnosed with transsexuality, that has accepted the identity of a transgender in the course of his life, I try to mediate a more realistic and sculpturesque image of transgender/transsexual life, identity and sense of self.

The second part describes preparatory work for a modest qualitative study. It presents theoretical and methodological grounds of the study, including an essential introduction of basic principles and characteristics of qualitative research as a specific approach to social reality. History of Tattooing: The Postmodern Era meets Archaism. The Culture of "Modern Primitives" dr. Martin Rychlík The presented dissertation concerns tattooing as the main theme - its history, functions, techniques, media presentations, individual motivation and general human attitudes towards decorating (and mutilating) the body. The author, ethnology / social anthropology student Martin Rychlik (Department of Ethnology Charles University in Prague), provides a comprehensive overview of many aspects of tattooing - considered as an universal cultural custom, so far poorely mapped in the Czech republic. Tattooing is a very complex and archaic phenomenon that has roots in the ancient Stone Age. The first direct archaeological proof was found in 1991, in Soelden near the Austro-Italian boarder. The mummified remains of a 5300 year-old hunter/shepherd emerged from a melting glacier and got nickname "Oetzi". Other well known tattooed mummies are the Egyptian Middle kingdom priestess Hathor and the frozen Scythian chief from Pazyryk. Many "primitive" tribes worldwide have adopted tattooing as a means of expression. Among the best documented are those of the Maori, Ainu, Samoans, Dayak, Tahiti islanders, Inuit, South American Indians and nomadic Siberian groups. The first so-called renaissance of tattoo is associated...

The function and forms of the Chodsko's traditional costume in the past and present
Nová, Lucie ; Štěpánová, Irena (advisor) ; Krupková, Jaroslava (referee)
In this thesis, I described the evolution of the traditional clothing from the half of the 19th century until the 21st century. It was my concern to achieve a work of not only descriptive content, which I found so frequent. I sought also for the occasions for wearing the traditional costume, on what occasion, the way the traditional costume changes when the original materials changes. I looked for the reasons why and with what functionality it is still worn by people living today. Among the historical evolution, I put emphasis also on the recent form and function of the traditional clothing.
