Vojtová, Karolína ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee)
Title The influence of muscle tonus with hormonal contraception Objective The thesis aims to determine whether and to what extent the use of hormonal contraception affects muscle tension, which can vary depending on the current phase of the menstrual cycle in women. Method The thesis is divided into theoretical part where there is a summary of information on this topic from the literature Czech and world, a special part that is treated as research using noninvasive myotonometer. The measurement is performed in 12 probands four times in four weeks, always at some stage of their menstrual cycle. The measurement results are compared between the two groups by probands and is found to influence hormonal contraceptives on muscle tension during the menstrual cycle. Results Measurement myotonometer shows that hormonal contraceptive use affects muscle tension. The measurement results show a stable and predictable changes in fluctuating muscle tension in probands who use hormonal contraceptives, but the rate changes are subject to interpersonal differences, and these results can not give a general opinion. Key words Menstrual cycle, hormonal contraception, muscle tension, myotonometer

Richtrová, Michaela ; Otáhal, Jakub (advisor) ; Šifta, Petr (referee)
Author: Bc. Michaela Richtrová Tittle: Golf swing in subjects with amputation of lower extremity Objectives: The study aims at evaluation of the technique of golf swing used by patients with a different type and level of lower extremity amputation as compared to able-bodied golfers. Another objective is determination of the relation between individual phases of the golf swing and weight transfer, using different golf clubs, as compared to able-bodied golfers. Method: By its topic the work is a pilot study. The research has been divided into three descriptive case studies. The experimental group included two amateur golfers and one professional golfer. The control group was represented by an able-bodied golfer. Evaluation of kinematic parameters (trajectory of shoulders, hips, knee joints) was based on the Qualysis Motion Capture System. Evaluation of dynamic parameters (weight transfer) in the course of golf swing was made using two dynamometric Kistler platforms. Results: The measuring has demonstrated that in terms of both kinematics and dynamics, the mode of movement of a patient with a trans-tibial amputation during a golf swing corresponds to that of an able-bodied golfer. The same results were achieved by the patient also with the use of another type of golf club. A change, both in terms of...

Rosenmüllerová, Lenka ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee)
Title The objectification of using of kinesio taping to influence a muscle tone in epicondylitis. Objectives The aim of this master thesis is to find an effect of inhibitive kinesiotape application to muscle tone of hypertonic m. extensor digitorum communis and to pain of lateral epicondyl in lateral epicondylitis. Method The master thesis is divided to theoretical part and empirical research, which is based on the first part. The evaluation of m. extensor digitorum communis tension after kinesiotape application is provided by myotonometry method. The measurement is performed in 5 tested persons before and after two-day kinesio tape application. The questionaire Numeric pain rating scale helps to find a change of pain before and after kinesio tape application and then the dependence of pain to muscle tone change. Results The myotonometer measurement found a decrease of m. extensor digitorum communis tension for 4 from 5 tested persons after two-day application. The pain of lateral epicondyl was reduced for all probands. Keywords lateral epicondylitis, tennis elbow, muscle tone, kinesio taping, myotonometer
The effect of menstrual cycle phases on muscle tone
Paurová, Aneta ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee)
Title: The effect of menstrual cycle phases on muscle tone Goals and methods: The aim of this thesis is to prove the effect of menstrual cycle phases and participating hormons on the viscoelastic properties of the sceletal calf muscle via the non-invasive myotonometer device. The experimental part of this thesis is a pilot study in which participated seven female probands aged inbetween 24 to 28. Each proband participated in four weekly tests. Only probands who had not used hormonal contraception for at least six months were selected. Results: The results of the tests are represented in graphs picturing parts of curves representing the force caused by the tip of the myotonometer. The muscle soleus tension is changing throughout the menstrual cycle but its impossible to eliminate other endogenous and exogenous factors. The measured relative values of muscle tension are different for each proband. The menstrual phase has the highest average value of muscle tension. It is not possible to make a generally valid conclusion. Key words: Menstrual cycle, menstrual phase, muscle tone, calf muscle, biomechanical properties, myotonometry, contraception

Kupec, Karel ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Konopková, Renata (referee)
Master's thesis topic: Influence of rheological characteristics of muscle tissue by musculus triceps surae by means of AEK practice Author: Bc. Karel Kupec Branch of study: Physiotherapy Disertation Tutor: PhDr. Petr Šifta, Ph.D. Year of Defense: 2013 Abstract: The target of this thesis was find out the effect of agistic-excentric contractions on muscle tension of musculus soleus compared with passive relaxation of musculus soleus. The assumption was, that agistic-excentric contraction reduce muscle tension of musculus soleus after anaerobic load. The contralateral lower limb was control limb for comparison agistic-excentric contraction and passive relaxation. Muscle tension was measured in laboratory in Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University: five students were measured. As a measurement method was used myotonometry, which simulated palpation. Measured data were displayed by using an analog-digital convertor and consequently evaluated. The results of this study found out positive effect of agistic-excentric contraction on muscle tension. Control form of relaxation, passive relaxation, didn't influence muscle tension so significantly. The results support the principle of hypotheses, that agisctic-exentric contraction approach affect muscle tension more positive than passive...
