The Environmental Impact of Cycling

Title: The Environmental Impact of Cycling Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to integrate information on the environmental impact of cycling using research summaries and to evaluate the use of bicycle in contemporary Czech Republic. Methods: Information on the concept of bicycle utilization was acquired by analysis of research papers and studies from information sources. Available international scientific studies were used in research summaries as a source of information on the environmental impact of cycling. Results: Research summaries demonstrate that cycling on unpaved roads does not have significantly more negative environmental impact in comparison to other means of transport. In the Czech Republic, bicycle is mostly used for recreational purposes. The reason behind its non-use by the residents of the Czech Republic lies in low road safety. The project of educational cycling trails in Protected Area of Eagle Mountain

Title: The project of educational cycling trails in Protected Landscape Area of Eagle mountains Objective The aim of this work is to create prject of three cycling trails, with three degrees of difficulty in eagle mountains area. The trails will be shown in information brochure with photos and information about this area. The brochure will be available in tourist information centre and on ČD (Czech railways ) and CHKO (www.chko.cz) web pages for free download. Methods Analyzes of existing trails in this area, searching for information about interesting places, history and geografical points. Consulting and verifying this information with people from Eagle mountains PLA (Protected Landscepe Area) organization and interviewing locals about this area. Verifying trails by group of cyclists. Results The result is a brochure with three bicycle educational tracks in eagle mountains. The brochure contains maps, photos, cultural stops and other informatin about this area. Teaching the game of geocaching as a leisure activity at elementary school

Title: Teaching the game of geocaching as a leisure activity at elementary schools Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to promote the game of geocaching as an organised school activity for pupils of upper primary schools. To offer participants the activity they will learn to use in their free time. Methods: The research sample consisted of 32 students from upper primary schools in Prague 4 and Prague 9. There was a pedagogical worker in each group who was helping the students with four theoretical and practical lessons for one month. A questionnaire survey and interview with teachers were used as methods for obtaining data. The questionnaire was presented to the participants before the start of the project and then again one month after its completion. The interview with teachers was carried out only after the intervention. Results: The results of this thesis show that the project participants would like to participate in the game of geocaching in the future. Overall, about a quarter of those surveyed go in for geocaching in their free time, but only 6 % of them were devoted to it after the intervention. Due to the effect of the intervention programme, no demonstrable change of the measured values, obtained from the participants after the project completion, has occurred. Keywords: GPS,...

Title: The using of modern technologies in orienteering Goals: Introduction, the benefits of modern technology used in orienteering sports and comparison nowadays with last time, when have not been using yet. Modern technologies have contributed to expansion of orienteering sports. They have made that branch of sport more attractive to both competitors and spectators. Facilities like SPORTident, Trac-Trac, Emit and Racom transfer on-line results from race to competitors and spectators who are in the race center. Thanks to those facilities can spectators also watch the race on-line on TV or on the Internet. Program OCAD has made the preparation of orienteering maps and tracks faster and more effective. Title: Safety measures for hiking and cycling Objectives: The objective of this work is consistent and understandable description of the safety measures for hiking and cycling. Methods: The diploma thesis in the theoretical style is focused on searching for available sources and the research upon them, comparing of the sources and description of hiking and cycling, and listing the safety measures as well. Results: It was found that in selected works of Czech and foreign authors is sufficiently elaborated safety theme for tourism. The work describes hiking in adverse conditions behavior in nature and the recommended procedure for emergency situations. In works devoted to cycling is also carefully prepared technique bike riding, bike repair and care of him and recommendations for cycling gear. Furthermore, it was found that the cyclist applies rules to be respected, because the work contains a description of the rules and instructions on how to behave on the road and traffic. In work is also included historical development of both types of tourism, as well as the division between tourism and the inclusion of sport and physical activity universally. Food supplements and nutrition of performance and professional cyclists

Title of the thesis: Food supplements and nutrition and performance of professional cyclists The goal of the paper: The aim of my work is to determine differences in the useing of dietary supplements and performance by professional cyclists. I also find out how different are the twosupplementation groups monitored before, during and after exercise. I focused on it also which marks of supplements by professional cyclist and cyclist who prefer performance. Of course I did not neglect to compare the groups surveyed drinks. Methodology: The data I obtained through a questionnaire that I circulated by an e-mail over the Internet.With some athletes I regularly meet in person, that I used for directly answering a questionnaire. The questionnaire used was clear and simple questions. The questionnaire is given below in the Annex. Most of the respondents interviewed were male and the age range was wide. Results: The results show that the greatest differences between groups of respondents are insupplementation before, during and after exercise. Differences are also in used the labeling of dietary suplements. Professional cyclists gather information about supplements from sources other than performance cyclists.
