Citizens on Economic Situation of the Czech Republic and Living Standard of Their Households - June/July 2023

According to the summer 2023 survey of CVVM, 16% of people evaluate the current economic situation in the Czech Republic as good, 26% view it as neither good nor bad, and 57% consider it to be bad.\n\n59% of Czechs evaluate the living standard of their household as good, 9% consider it to be bad, and 32% characterize it as neither good, nor bad.
Self-Classification on the Left-Right Scale of Political Orientation - June/July 2023

In the summer survey the Public Opinion Research Centre gave all respondents a question that at eleven-point scale measures the left-right political orientation: "In politics, people sometimes talk about right and left. Where would you place yourself ranked on this scale?"\n\n22.9% of citizens place themselves to the left of the center, 44.0% to the right and 25.5% to the center.\n\nSince 2013 till 2020, the share of the left was steadily declining from its historical high of more than two-fifths to a historical low below one-quarter, where it has stabilized since then up to date. On the contrary, the representation of the right has been growing with certain breaks in the last ten years.
Confidence in constitutional institutions and satisfaction with political situation - August/September 2023

In the period from the end of July to the mid of the last third of September 2023 within the regular survey the Public Opinion Research Centre questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this survey there was a question about their trust to the President, both Chambers of Parliament, the Government, and Local and Regional Councils.\n\n58% of Czechs trust the President, 25% of Czechs trust the government.\n\nThe Chamber of Deputies has the confidence of 23% and the Senate of 33% of the public.\n\n12% of Czech citizens declare satisfaction with political situation, 61% are dissatisfied.

Evaluation of Petr Fiala's Cabinet - February/March 2023

In February and March survey, the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on evaluation of Petr Fiala's government.\n32% of Czechs are satisfied with the person of Prime Minister, 64% are dissatisfied, 27% are satisfied with government's performance and 69% are not.\nGovernment's program 30% of Czechs evaluate positively, 59% hold the opposite stance.\nCommunication with public is seen positively by 30% of Czechs, 66% evaluate it negatively.\nPersonal composition of Fiala's government (24% satisfied / 71% dissatisfied) is area in which we found the most critical evaluation of public.
Public Opinion on Performance of President Miloš Zeman - February/March 2023

In its regular survey in February and March 2023 the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on questions about the Miloš Zeman's presidency.\nIn all areas examined, critical evaluations prevailed over positive ones.\nRelatively most favorably, the Czech public rated how he performed the functions entrusted to him by the constitution (40%) and how he was in contact with citizens and knew their problems (39%).\nCzech citizens were the most critical of how the outgoing president took care of the seriousness and dignity of his office (73%) and how he acted as an authority among citizens (71%).\nCompared to 2020, the president's rating worsened in all monitored items.\nCompared to the previous presidents Václav Havel and Václav Klaus in the period at the end of their tenure, citizens rated Miloš Zeman better in that how he was in contact with citizens and knew their problems. For other items, his current assessment sounds more critical.

The survey examined public opinion about whether the proportion of nuclear energy in electricity production should increase or decrease in future, what people think about building a new unit of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), whether or not they are concerned about the use of nuclear energy in the country, and whether they have confidence in the government’s decisions about the development of nuclear energy. A newly included question also asked whether citizens know how the Czech state manages nuclear waste.
