Non-destructive investigation of the unconsolidated and the consolidated historic plasters on the castle Pernštejn, I. period
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The report presents results of the investigation aiming the evaluation of effect of lime historic plasters consolidation using repeated lime water spray.
Design of repair exterior plaster floor of a medieval rampart at Karlštejn Castle based on modified lime mixtures
Slížková, Zuzana ; Drdácký, Miloš
The article describes a case study aimed at analysis of an ancient exterior plaster floor at Karlštejn Castle and the development of a repair mortar of similar characteristics
Survey and assessment of the National museum building in Prague
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana
The report presents results of a complex survey of the health conditions and damages and failures of the building of the National museum in Prague. It further summarizes scientific investigations of the loads, namely of winds in situ as well as on models in a climatic wind tunnel where also soiling was tested. The results of material analyses and public attitude to soiling and failures on the façade are involved, too. The report has a rich photographic annex.
Characteristics of an outdoor pavement mortar from the Karlštejn Castle and of its replacement by lime mortar with fibres
Drdácký, Miloš ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Zeman, Antonín ; Cikrle, P.
The report presents results of a complex survey and research of the state and characteristics of a historic outdoor pavement mortar from the fortification wall of the Karlštejn Castle. The results are compared to the characteristics of newly designed lime mortars with fibres.
Study of combined climatic influences and hydrophobization effects on sandstone pinnacles from the Santa Barbara church in Kutná Hora
Drdácký, Miloš ; Lesák, Jaroslav ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Pospíšil, Stanislav ; Delpech, P.
The report summarizes results of the first part experiments in the Jules Verne climatic wind tunnel CSTB in Nantes. It presents diagrams of temperature and moisture changes measured on both the exterior surface and inside historic sandstone pinnacles from the church of Santa Barbara in Kutná Hora at different combinations of climatic loads with changing temperature, rain and wind velocity characteristics. Thermography has been applied for surface temperature measurements. During the tests the hydrophobization effect was studied, too.
Monitoring of environmental impact on cultural heritage monuments and diagnostics of their damages
Drdácký, Miloš ; Bryscejn, Jan ; Lesák, Jaroslav ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Urushadze, Shota
The report describes consequencies and mechanisms of environmental and anthropogenic action on cultural heritage. It presents nondestructive surveying and monitoring methods for historic structures.
Experimental methods for study of historical structures
Drdácký, Miloš ; Jirovský, Ivo ; Lesák, Jaroslav ; Pospíšil, Stanislav ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Vavřík, Daniel
The paper presents a review of selected experimental methods for study of historic materials and structures, which have been developed or applied in the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague. It discusses peculiarities of the experimental investigation of historic structures and materials, which influence basic methodological approach. The contribution is focused especially on nonstandard methods of study of material characteristics and on testing of historic structures subjected to environmental loads or actions.
DELIVERABLE D9.6 Small sample testing
Cikrle, P. ; Drdácký, Miloš ; Lesák, Jaroslav ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Válek, Jan ; Vavřík, Daniel ; Zíma, Pavel
A number of in-situ tests for mechanical material properties is readily available but there were developed improved methodologies which met the requirements and specifics of this project. It the case of historic masonry there was necessary to deal with a common additional problem, which is the testing of non-standards samples. This was for example a problem of testing of historic bedding mortars or renders, where a typical width of sample is around 10 mm. It comes along with the general need for small ů micro samples with regards to the protection of historic masonry where a minimum intervention is always required. Mechanical properties in bending were tested on non-standard mortar samples which were supplemented symmetrically on both ends with two 'prostheses'. According to the results of the tests comparing the flexural strength of pure mortar beams with the strength ascertained on prosthesized identical material the influence of prosthesization is negligible. Testing of stone samples involved comparison of the compressive and split tensile strength of specimens of standard dimensions and specimens of smaller dimensions
