2 Abstract The Antithesis of the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of St. Matthew (Mt 5,17−48) The bachelor thesis deals of the with the antithesis Sermon on the Mount, as mentioned in the Gospel of St. Matthew (Mt 5,17−48). It begins with a brief introduction to the theory of the creation of the Gospel of Matthew. By explaining key words and exegetical notes, it attempts to explain the individual antitheses in the context of the Old and New Testaments. It deals with the relationship of the Old and New Testaments, as formulated in the antitheses. Special emphasis is placed on the notion of justice, in the conception of the Old Testament, the Torah, the Prophets and sapiential literature and various opinion groups that operated in the time of Jesus. The concept of justice according to the New Testament is explained particularly in the conception of St. Paul. The work also deals with the ethics of Jesus and its differences from the Old Testament ethics, and is introduced by a question of how to fulfill Jesus requirements stemming from the antithesis.

Healing interventions of Jesus
Abstract This paper attempts to map topic of illness and healing in ancient Israel from a biblical perspective. It focuses first on the Old Testament stories of healing by prophets and then on the New Testament stories when Jesus and his...
Historical Jesus as Messiah. The presuppositions of Christology in the historical Jesus.
Ficzere, Tamás ; Pokorný, Petr (advisor) ; Roskovec, Jan (referee) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
The following doctoral thesis Historical Jesus as a Messiah is aimed at the question of Jesus' Messianism. It contributes to a broad field of study that has at its core this theme and that tries to unravel the unsatisfactory answer if Jesus from Nazareth (or "historical Jesus") considered himself during his earthly life a Messiah. Is it interesting to note that the early Christians, right after Jesus' death, professed him their Lord and Messiah. This "title", which is soon used in relation to Jesus, becomes in its Greek form (Cristo,j - "anointed") Jesus' personal name and Christians recognize as their Messiah Jesus Christ. If we realize that the earthly Jesus never used this title as a self attribution, it remains unclear why it played such an important role for the followers of Jesus. The question of why they did not title him "Son of man" arises. As far as that goes, this is the title earthly Jesus identified with. But the decision of the first Christians, who understood Jesus to be God's messenger and a Messiah, has to have a foundation; it cannot merely be an "overvaluation" of his mission. The question remains: why did Jesus hesitate to identify himself as a Messiah? Even though he never said it about himself, we can trace in the synoptic gospels' indications to let us affirm the statement that the...
The great mothers of Israel
Cveklová, Kateřina ; Větrovec, Pavel (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
The great mothers of Israel There are three great women important for the Christian faith: Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel in the focal point of the work. Based on Bible information, the author tries to learn more about them, to be able to understand them and to draw their vivid pictures. Long lasting infertility was the cross that all three women had in common. To its contrary, there was the promise given by God to their husbands: "I shall multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and like the sand which is on the seashore"(Gn 22,17). This paradox proved to be of special significance in the God's plan for human salvation. The work follows the difficult ways Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel had to do from their original polytheistic religion to their faith in one God. They were discovering the Lord gradually; it was a whole life lasting process. An important role in it belonged to their husbands. This is the reason, why an attention in the work is also paid to God's original plan of the creation of a man, to the Bible view of a woman, and of the relation between a man and a woman. Chapter dealing with the position of women in the ancient Middle East is meant to put the examined facts into the historical context.

Omesová, Terezie ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
Terezie Omesová ENGLISH ABSTRACT Parables in the Gospel of Matthew and their role This bachelor thesis deals with the themes of selected parables in the Gospel of Matthew and their relevance for our life. The introduction presents general characteristics of the parables, their definition, interpretation, occurrence, the process of handing them down and their structure. The following part turns our attention to the person of Jesus in the context of his time. The parables are given in the same sequence as in the Gospel of Matthew. Nine selected parables summarize the basic message of Jesus's teaching in the Gospel of Matthew. They are concerned especially with the following fourfold: 1 - the kingdom of God, 2 - the beginning, 3 - the vocation, and 4 - the judgement. Although the parables were voiced and written down in a completely different period and context, they - being the word of God - carry an important message also for contemporary humanity. They call us to vigilance, prudence, responsibility, forgiveness, readiness and love to our neighbours, but they also warn us against foolishness, indifference and stagnation. The thesis shows that the selected parables have their relevance both for the time of their genesis, but they also carry an important message for the contemporary context. Jesus and his...
