Peter the Apostle in the Gospel of Luke and in the Acts of the Apostles
Hanáková, Kamila ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Apoštol Petr v Lukášově evangeliu a ve Skutcích apoštolů Kamila Hanáková Abstract The bachelor's thesis deals with Saint Peter, included by Jesus Christ among his apostles and from the first given a privileged position as the "rock" on which Jesus was building his church. This made Saint Peter one of the most important figures in early Church history. One of the reasons why I chose Saint Peter as a topic is his personality, generally known to be on the energetic and intense side. His thinking, however, is characterised by naiveté, fear, a sense of justice and honest regret. All this makes him relatable in my eyes as his views mirror those of a regular person. Although he did not seem to be particularly religious in the beginning, through his faith he soon became aware of the magnificence of Jesus Christ. I focus on Saint Peter as depicted mostly in the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles as I believe these books illustrate his personality and activities well. Keywords Peter the Apostle, the first disciple, rock, church, Jesus Christ, faith, Goespel of Luke, Acts of the Apostles.

John 4:4-42. Jesus and the Samaritan Woman
Kočica, Pavel ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
This thesis J 4,4-42: Jesus and the Samaritan woman deals with an exegesis of the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman as well as with a deeper theological interpretation of themes from this conversation: living water and worshipping of God in Spirit and truth. At first, a langugage analysis is performed, because an exegesis of the text is based on it. The exegesis emphasises a place of the pericope in a context of John's gospel, stylistic specialities of John as well as a graduality in a knowledge of Jesus's truth identity from a perspective of the woman and Samaritan people from the town. It is pointed out that living water can be thought as all that Jesus gives to people here on earth for their redemption. Worshipping in Spirit and truth is interpreted as a relation of a man to God that is given by a personal presence of God in a human heart thanks to a faith in Jesus. Futhermore, the thesis is concerned with a description of Samaritan history from a biblical point of view as well as from a perspective of Samaritans themselves and with basic articles of the Samaritan religion that appear in the text (Mt. Gerizim, person of Taheb). What is also considered is a relevancy of the pericope nowadays from point of view of a man who is calling by God. Consequently, the text is given into a...
Parables in the Gospel According to Matthew and Their Role
Omesová, Terezie ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
Terezie Omesová ENGLISH ABSTRACT Parables in the Gospel of Matthew and their role This bachelor thesis deals with the themes of selected parables in the Gospel of Matthew and their relevance for our life. The introduction presents general characteristics of the parables, their definition, interpretation, occurrence, the process of handing them down and their structure. The following part turns our attention to the person of Jesus in the context of his time. The parables are given in the same sequence as in the Gospel of Matthew. Nine selected parables summarize the basic message of Jesus's teaching in the Gospel of Matthew. They are concerned especially with the following fourfold: 1 - the kingdom of God, 2 - the beginning, 3 - the vocation, and 4 - the judgement. Although the parables were voiced and written down in a completely different period and context, they - being the word of God - carry an important message also for contemporary humanity. They call us to vigilance, prudence, responsibility, forgiveness, readiness and love to our neighbours, but they also warn us against foolishness, indifference and stagnation. The thesis shows that the selected parables have their relevance both for the time of their genesis, but they also carry an important message for the contemporary context. Jesus and his...

This bachelor's thesis "The meaning of beautitudes for the contemporary period" is focused on the up to date message of the beautitudes for the present period. Firstly, the term beautitude is explained from the linguistic and biblical point of view. In the course of the thesis, the term is shown as it is usually given in encyclopedias, dictionaries and popular scientific literature. For better understanding of the meaning of the beautitudes, they are analyzed within a broader context of Matthew's gospel and the "Mountain sermon". The thesis contains explanations based on the exegesis of various authors, who make evident the Old testament background and the link to the ten commandments as a pre- image of the beautitudes. The central topic of Matthew's gospel is the kingdom of heaven, to which one whole chapter is devoted. The thesis also compares the beautitudes of Matthew and Luke. Based on these analyses a reflexion on the meaning of the beautitudes for nowadays is developed. The thesis is concluded with an interview with contemporary theologists in pastoral work. The view of the respondents is evaluated at the end of the questionaire. The beautitudes are a challenge concerning everybody, they are definitely the Christ's message for the contemporary world as well.
Social mission of the church and program documents of the European Union
Charousová, Hana ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Masters thesis SOCIAL MISSION OF THE CHURCH AND PROGRAMMING DOCUMENTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION Hana Charousová Resumé The contemporary world is being led towards total globalization, material development, economic prosperity and technocratic society. The aim of this Masters thesis is to point out that the contemporary world challenges people to maintain human values, support moral and spiritual life and humankind generally. My work focuses on the situation of the Catholic Church and other churches in our society, most of all on their social mission, which comes out of Christian teaching. I want to demonstrate that these churches can and should have a position of value in contemporary, modern, pluralistic society. At the same time, through this thesis, I would like to inspire churches to be more involved in practical aspects of society, especially in social problem-solving. To do this, however, churches need financial backing. For that reason, this thesis will provide practical suggestions for obtaining financial support, for example from European Structural Funds, especially the European Social Fund. Bibliodrama as a Relation
Bodláková, Magdalena ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Kuźniar, Mariusz (referee)
English anotation - Bibliodrama as relation Relational dimensions in bibliodramatic work and its theological embedment Basic question of the paper is, if and which connection bibliodrama has as to relation; if it is possible to understand bibliodrama as a bearer of relation, which dimensions relation has in bibliodrama and how it is theologically embedded. The paper is focused on aspects of bibliodrama in a relations perspective. First is the group (fellowship), meeting a biblical text in context of interhuman and transcendental relations; a description of group dynamics generally and specially in a bibliodramatic group. Another dimension of relations is the Bible representing communication and the relational dimension between God and man. Then the paper describes the phenomenon of religious experience, which is used in bibliodrama and makes man relate to the text in an emotional and personal dimension. Reflection helps to work on emotions in a more conscious way, and see them in a context of personal life and fellowship, biblical text and interhuman relations. Theological embedment of relation is based on the situation of creation, in which the basis of human existence is the ability of man relating to and being a picture of Gods. Likewise man relates to creation (world, other people and society). God is...
The question of miracles in non-christian religions
Adamczyk, Piotr ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
This thesis deals with the question of miracles in non Christian religions. The idea of a miracle forms an essential part of all religions, i.e. not only in Christianity. In all faiths unusual divine interference exists. The first chapter deals with the miracle from the point of view of Catholic theology, specifically the conception of the miracle in the work of St. Augustin and St. Thomas Aquinas. Besides that, it also contains the contemporary definition of a miracle. In the second chapter a description is given of the conception of a miracle in the Old and New Testament. In the third chapter we find a presentation of ethnical faiths with their conception of a miracle (if relevant), which were performed by kings, magicians and witchmen. In the fourth chapter the question of miracle is related to two universal religions, i.e. Buddhism and Islam. These universal religions influenced the history of religion and were therefore elaborated upon separately. We should comprehend a miracle as a divine sign, which belongs to the basic conceptions of this term and does not only exist in Christianity. The history of religion confirms that in all faiths, which were studied, exist divine signs, which could be interpreted as miracles. Key words: - miracle - miracle in non-Christian religions - miracle in the...
