Modelling and simulation in the field of waste management
Pařízková, Iva ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Touš, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the application of multilayer perceptron net for modelling the technolgical units of waste-to-energy facility ZEVO Malesice. It was specifically created to model the amount of steam generated in steam-boilers and to quantify the consumpion of steam by an external subject. Firstly, the basics of neuron theory are presented. In the following, a Statistica artificial neural network module is described. This module was used to develop the neural network models. The models appearing in practical section were created with the use of STATISTICA software. Last chapter deals with detailed description of the developed models and their comparison with simple linear and nonlinear regression models. Last but not least, the description of a software providing easy implementation of neural network models into Visual Basic for Application programming language is presented.
Mathematical Modelling of Vehicle Fuel Consumption
Dražka, Jan ; Novotný, Jan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with a model building of vehlicle’s model based on real data and with a modelling of it’s movement and it’s fuel consumption. The thesis includes a preparation of input data as well as model building. The main aim of the thesis is the comparison among selected driving modes from the point of fuel consumption and it’s optimization. This comparison is simulated in MATLAB environement and GAMS with the use of selected optimization algorithms.
Mathematical Programs for Blending Problems
Kalenský, Vít ; Bednář, Josef (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with optimization models with design of a new waste management infrastructure in the Czech Republic, such that combustible waste, which is not utilized by the material recovering, can be used by energy recovering. This task is handled by optimization models, including trac and mixing problems. First of all, the concepts of graph theory and optimization are presented in this paper. Subsequently, some of the GAMS functions are discussed, and later the VBA programming language used to handle the larger data quickly is presented. In the main part, three gradually expanding models are developed. At the end the data from the waste management information system are implemented into them.
Statistics Control of Process Described by Attributive and Continues Variable
Svobodová, Hana ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
This thesis aimes at approaching the problem of control diagrams. The first part summarizes the theoretical knowledge about the control diagrams, including their sorting based on the type of the monitored quantity. The different types of diagrams are described in detail. The second part deals with the practical use of control diagrams using actual data. Tests of definable causes are used on these data, and the causes of failure are sought. The key is to assess process stability.
Fuzzy Sets Use in Cluster Analysis with a Special Attention to a Fuzzy C-means Clustering Method
Camara, Assa ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Žák, Libor (advisor)
This master thesis deals with cluster analysis, more specifically with clustering methods that use fuzzy sets. Basic clustering algorithms and necessary multivariate transformations are described in the first chapter. In the practical part, which is in the third chapter we apply fuzzy c-means clustering and k-means clustering on real data. Data used for clustering are the inputs of chemical transport model CMAQ. Model CMAQ is used to approximate concentration of air pollutants in the atmosphere. To the data we will apply two different clustering methods. We have used two different methods to select optimal weighting exponent to find data structure in our data. We have compared all 3 created data structures. The structures resembled each other but with fuzzy c-means clustering, one of the clusters did not resemble any of the clustering inputs. The end of the third chapter is dedicated to an attempt to find a regression model that finds the relationship between inputs and outputs of model CMAQ.
Risk modelling in transportation
Lipovský, Tomáš ; Pavlas, Martin (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with theoretical basics of risk modelling in transportation and optimization using aggregated traffic data. In this thesis is suggested the procedure and implemented the application solving network problem of shortest path between geographical points. The thesis includes method for special paths evaluation depending on the frequency of traffic incidents based on real historical data. The thesis also includes a~graphical interface for presentation of the achieved results.
Analysis of traffic data related to risks in waste management
Vaníček, Filip ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to prepare real data for subsequent optimization of the collection plan using advanced VRP („Vehicle Routing Problem “) algorithms. The diploma thesis is motivated by the project Strategic Partnership for Environmental Technologies and Energy Production. The output focuses on indeterminate factors that have a major risk for subsequent operations. These are economic, environmental and social risks (overcrowded containers). Another result is the implementation and processing of the time-consuming passage of all streets, the estimation of the speed of the collection (garbage) truck for the subsequent optimization of the route and the estimation of the mean value of the filling of individual collection containers.
Modelling in Engineering
Holec, Tomáš ; Rozehnalová, Petra (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the optimal parameters of pump impeller in order to minimize friction loss and disc loss. The proposal has been implemented by a mathematical model in Matlab. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The first four chapters summarize the theroretical background that is necessary for creating the mathematical model for the losses of an impeller. In the fifth chapter the implementation of the mathematical model in Matlab is presented and results for particular types of pumps are discussed.
Design of Experiment
Holec, Tomáš ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Bednář, Josef (advisor)
In this thesis, the design of experiment is studied. Firstly, a theoretic background in mathematical statistics necessary for understanding is built (chapter 2). The design of experiment is then presented in chapters 3 and 4. Chapter 3 is divided into several subchapters in which its brief history is provided as well as its complex theoretic description (basic principles, steps for planning, etc.). Chapter 4 deals with particular types of the design of experiment (Factorial experiments or Response surface design). Simple examples are provided to illustrate the theory in chapters 3 and 4. Last part of the thesis is strictly practical and focuses on an application of the theory for particular data sets and its evaluation (chapter 5).
Risk modelling for production processes
Ftáčnik, Peter ; Bednář, Josef (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The processes and procedures covered the main core of the professional operations in the manufacturing plant. The enterprise should focus on the efficient running of the main processes and risks associated with these procedures. My thesis deals with the risk analysis of selected manufacturing processes particular company from qualitative and quantitative point of view. First, the results are presented from qualitative risk analysis, especially in scope of failures of the machines or in the sequences of production. Second part focus on the problems of optimization sequence batches that the total time required for pre-setting of machines between doses should be minimal. The thesis also takes random waiting period into the consideration and applies wait-and-see approach of stochaistic programming applied in task traveling salesman. Calculations are processed by the GAMS. The results from the GAMS are refered in MS Excel, they are further discussed and interpreted by using descriptive statistics.
