Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme (Structural Funds in Education)

This diploma thesis is focused on the European Policy for economic and social cohesion, its goals and financial instruments. Four Structural Funds allow the European Union (EU) to grant financial assistance to resolve structural economic and social problems in the member states of the EU. The thesis concentrates on one of the Structural funds, namely the European Social Fund (ESF), the main financial instrument allowing the Union to realise the strategic objectives of its employment policy. The Human Resources and Emplyment Operational programme, the Prague -- Adaptability Operational Programme and the Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme are the Czech Operational programmes financed by the ESF. The last one is then closely described and attention is aimed mainly at the Priority Area 2.3 -- Developing human potential in research and development. The practical part of the work deals with the characteristics of the project cycle from the point of view of the Ministry of Education and with the analysis of projects applied in the Priority Area mentioned above.
The economy of the Federal Republic of Germany: its development, position and influence on the European economy

The objective of the thesis is to analyse the German economy: its forming, conception and development. Based on the analysis the thesis explains causes of economic success, which implicates the position of Germany among other European states and its influence on the European economy. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter concentrates on historical and economic development in the second half of the twentieth century. The second chapter deals with current economic situation: the process of unification of Germany, the situation before the economic crisis and the impacts of the crisis. It analyses the effectiveness of measures against the crisis as well. The third chapter characterizes the role of Germany in the European union and its institutions and it also describes foreign trade relations between Germany and other European countries.
Business cycles of the USA and Japan

The roles of the Council and the European Parliament in the decision-making process of the European Union

This bachelor thesis deals with the roles of the Council and the European Parliament in the decision-making process of the European Union. It includes the description of this relationship right from the beginning of the modern European integration until the last revision of the founding treaties. At first there was nearly no connection of these two institutions and the power of Parliament in the decision-making process was insignificant. Through the long process of development starting in the 60', the Parliament gained more and more competence and it led to the balance between the two institutions. The first two chapters are concerned with the historical development of the relationship between the Council and the Parliament and the last chapter provides the current point of view as it deals with the changes implemented after the Treaty of Lisbon.
Impacts of NAFTA in selected areas

This work is dedicated to the North American Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force in 1994 and united the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Aim of this work is to examine the effects of this Agreement on two specific areas, namely the area of trade and employment in the Member States. The first part briefly outlines formation and content of agreement, entry motives and expectations of Member States, as well as two side agreements that were negotiated in parallel with the NAFTA. The second chapter monitors trade and changes in trade between Member States, both at bilateral and trilateral levels. The final chapter examines the impact of NAFTA on the sensitive area of work and in particular employment in each of Member States.
Reform of financial system in the EU as a reaction to the recent financial crisis

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to introduce the reform of financial system in the European Union as a reaction to the recent financial crisis and to evaluate the taken measures. The thesis consists of two chapters. The first chapter is focused on financial crisis, it describes the main causes, the relationships between them and calls attention to mistakes or absence of regulation and supervision of financial markets. The second chapter describes the response of the European Union. The thesis analyzes the measures that the EU has taken or plans to take. Specifically, those are measures in supervision -- creation of new European System of Financial Supervision and measures in regulation of banks (capital requirements directives), rating agencies and derivates market.
Governance of the Lisbon strategy

The intention of the bachelor thesis is to analyze what specific tools and mechanisms of governance were used in the implementation process of the Lisbon strategy. Furthermore, it reviews its achievements and assesses whether the implementation methods and the individual instruments chosen could ensure the actual realization of the objectives set in the agenda. Finally, this work has the ambition to express the opinion of the author on future destiny of the new strategic plan dubbed Europe 2020. It also presents a newly introduced Euro plus pact and briefly assesses its potential contribution to the Union.
Lobbying and its regulation in the Czech Republic and in selected developed countries

The diploma project focuses on lobbying and its regulation in both the Czech Republic and in selected developed countries. The introductory section contains a theoretical analysis of the definition of lobbying, the kinds of consequences, analysis of the draft law on lobbying in 2009 and a description of the regulation of lobbying in selected developed countries and the EU. In the second part area for lobbying in the legislative process is approached through a case study. The final section contains a questionnaire aimed at the general opinion of respondents on lobbying, especially views on lobbying terminology, methods of lobbying, as well as on regulation of lobbying in the Czech Republic and the EU. On this basis, some conclusions are formulated that may contribute to the development of the lobbying culture in the country.
The comparison of the regional integrations MERCOSUR and NAFTA

The main goal of thesis is to compare two most important regional integrations in macroregion America (according to the classification of the World Trade Organization). They are the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR, Mercado Común del Sur). The first part is aimed at the economic characteristics of both regional integrations -- the development of the GDP, the development of the export, the development of the international trade in merchandise and services, etc. The second part deals with the theory of the regionalism applied to the NAFTA and the MERCOSUR. There are the motives which led to the establishment of the integration, the depth and the type of the integration and also the openness to third countries. In the final part of the thesis, both regional integrations are compared and the possibility of the establishment of the Free Trade Agreement of Americas (FTAA) is judged on the basis of the obtained data.
EU Common Agricultural Policy with a focus on France

This thesis deals with the EU Common Agricultural Policy, with particular focus on France. The main objective is to analyze the current development of the EU CAP and to assess the impact of the introduction of the CAP reforms on French agriculture. The first chapter briefly summarizes the historical development of the CAP since its inception until the early 90s. The second chapter lists the major reforms that have taken place since the early 90s until now, along with the main meaning. The third chapter is devoted to the characteristics of French agriculture, evaluates its development and impact of CAP on his current state. The French model of the CAP reform is described in the fourth chapter, which also mentions the rural development policy in France. The final chapter outlines possible future developments of the CAP, which takes into account the current problems of world agriculture and the interests of France.
