Belgian party system and Eurosceptism
Žižková, Tereza ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
This thesis examines statements of chosen political parties towards the European Integration, based on the Content Analysis of Programs in the federal elections of the years 2007, 2010 and 2014, especially in the economic policy, common foreign and security policy, enlargement, migration policy and environmental policy. The position of these parties is categorized into the typology of Nicola Conti and are processed not only from the view of development of chosen parties, but within comparison of the Flemish and the Wallonia regime. The Belgian Kingdom is perceived as one of the most pro-Europe states that supports the project of the European Union and the European Integration in general. Belgium, one of the founding states of the European Economic Community and a member of the long-term prospering project of Benelux, was the perfect example of positive repercussion that the membership in the EU might bring. In 1993, the federalization of Belgium occurred and it is evident that the parties dedicated most of the attention to the question of nationality and to the autonomy of (the?) regions, especially then, the Flemish political party didn't consider the topic of the European Integration that much in local politics. A change occurred, when Eurosceptic parties started stretching out throughout Europe,...

Intraparty Democracy of the Czech Greens
Gavriněv, Vojtěch ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
This thesis examines the level of intra-party democracy within the Czech Greens. Using two separate content analyses (a quantitative analysis of the party statutes and a qualitative analysis of several interviews with active party members) the three main criteria of intra-party democracy are measured - inclusiveness, decentralisation and institutionalisation. Following the results of the two said analyses that both prove and amend each other it is stated that the level of intra-party democracy within the Czech Greens is currently considerably high. The two analyses also revealed persisting gaps and possible threats to intra-party democracy within the Czech Greens. Because of the lack of a comparable research on this topic in Czech political environment the results are collated to those of some other Central-European countries and simultaneously stated as normative. The method used is also suggested to inspire further research to be made on the level of intra-party democracy of any other Czech political party.
Czech political parties - from cadre to mass parties
Pleskač, Jan ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The presented text of this thesis focuses on the issue of changing the organizational structure of a party, or on the transition of one type of political party to another, ie from the side of the cadres to the side of the masses. The work is based primarily on the Duverger's classification of political parties, on the basis of which the criteria are based on which the parties are judged. These criteria are defined in the first part of the text. In the second part of the text, this typology is applied to selected political parties. Each of the monitored parties is examined separately according to the criteria presented and defined in the first part of the text. The research sample of this work is made up of the so-called "five" parties, ie Agrarians, Social Democrats, National Democrats, Christian Democrats and National Socialists. The thesis deals with the extent to which the designated political parties correspond to one or the other type and what changes their internal organization has experienced. In other words, whether there has been a change in the organizational structure, ie the change from the cadre-type to the mas-type side and, if so, in what specific parameters.
Hidden Parties in the Czech Local Politics
Brýdl, Matěj ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
This thesis describes the parties, which stand for the local elections under another name, then is an actual name of the political party. However, there is not definition yet, in the Czech Republic this topic is not even included in a literature. Those parties, which can be called as hidden parties, do not appear only in the Czech Republic, but they can be found in other countries as well. This thesis describes the problematic of the hidden parties also in England, Belgium, Estonia, Croatia, and Poland. The main part of this thesis is devoted to the hidden parties in the Czech local elections. Beside the definition of what parties can be considered as hidden parties, this thesis includes comparison with other forms of candidacy and the development of frequency of these parties in individual years. There are also compared two forms of candidacy, which under certain circumstances can be considered as hidden parties. The biggest part of this thesis is devoted to the success of these parties and to which parties most often hide their names. Several specific hidden parties are then further analyzed to determine the historical development of parties in a particular city and the degree of connection of candidates and the political party.
The Slovak political parties and the elections in 2016
Marjenka, Ján ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the topic of cleavages and their development in the Slovakian party system and society. The thesis chronologically interprets the evolution from the year 1990 until the current years, specifically until the 2016 election. In the beginning, the Slovakian party system and society were split up, similarly to other post-communist countries going from communism to anticommunism. When this topic is solved, other traditional cleavages come to mind as they are as well described by classical theoreticians. These cleavages can be activated by themselves, or become less important through time and social and political development. Other studies or thesis of Slovakian authors prove this idea. This known development is usually only addressed until the year 2012, that is why the main aim of this thesis is to analyze, continue with other results and find out how the situation regarding this issue has evolved before the election in 2016. It is important to analyze cleavages and other topics which divide the society and political parties from the point of view of the effect the cleavages have on the stability of the party system. It influences the number of them and the relationships between them which can be cumulative or cross cutting. Since then it is possible to determine...

At present the party has only 16 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and the situation has not improved much. The first part focuses on the theoretical concept of parties and their definition. With this chapter ODS can be defined as conservative-liberal party. Another part focuses on the history and development of the ODS, there is already outlined what possible reasons could get the side into the current crisis. In the last part is a selection of the most important moments of the party, but also events that are completely unrelated to ODS. It has been selected six key things while three were later proved to be the reasons that led to the current crisis. The first reason is that the party is unable to cope with its program of transformation and could not find another key topic. The departure of its founder Vaclav Klaus had the negative impact on the side. The third reason is the emergence of new parties, due to this fact the party is losing voters.
