Pavel, Miroslav ; Czumalo, Vladimír (referee) ; Hoftichová, Petra (referee)
This thesis compares the development of the Czechoslovak and Dutch architectural avant-gardes from the end of the 19th century until the first half of the 20th century. The impact of Dutch architecture on Czechoslovak architecture has never been denied but on the other hand it has never been clearly documented. This thesis studies the work and life of architects selected according to their artistic and social contribution to Czechoslovak- Dutch relations. It reconstructs the web of interconnections between the countries by using findings and information obtained during the research. The Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne (CIAM) has a prominent role in these developments. CIAM represents an international architectural discussion platform for all European avant- gardes. Although there existed cooperation between Czechoslovak and Dutch groups for several years, the mutual relation between the groups weakened after both of them had joined the CIAM. This thesis describes not only the mutual interactions but also explains the reason of their vanishing. The development of architecture is analyzed in the context of a historical framework encompassing several critical milestones of our history. Social, ecological, political and cultural determinants, which are presented on the basis of the...

The development of architecture is seen in the context of a historical framework which consists of the critical milestones of our history. Social, ecological, political and cultural determinants, which are presented on the basis of the historical framework, affect architecture as a material expression and a tangible artefact of a particular society. The research is represented by two seemingly self-contained evolutionary lines of Czechoslovak and Dutch achitectures. The evolutionary lines are connected by the personages of Czech or Dutch architecture or by the leaders of European avant-garde. Description of the avant-garde art associations and societies, which are the prime movers and innovators, constitute a significant part of this work. A notional shared peak of Czechoslovak and...

Immigration politics in the Czech Republic and in the chosen countries of the European Union
PAVEL, Paula-Mirabela
The aim of this work is to show very big and strong phenomenon which dramatically influence the economic and social situation of the advanced countries, the immigration. A very great number of immigrants arrive from abroad to these countries for different reasons. The immigrants came to Western Europe after Second World War for a better life. But Czech Republic as a former socialistic state has other experience with immigrants. Earlier the government decided who should work or study on the territory of Czech Republic. These foreigners were actually from other socialistic countries. After the disintegration of communism in 1989, Czech Republic accorded favorable working conditions and the government realized that it is necessary to have good laws to control the legal and illegal arrival of immigrants and their rights and obligations. Denmark never had any experience with communism and immigrants from Turkey in the sixties were welcomed. Romanian situation is different. There is still lack of working stations, that{\crq}s why there are not many immigrants.
