The main objective was to compare and ascertain the experiences of nurses from the surgical, cardioangiologic, neurological ICU and the ARO department. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part covers the anatomy of the venous system, the history and significance of central venous catheters, classification of catheters according to various criteria and parameters, indications and contraindications and nursing care for CVC. The empirical part describes the results obtained through quantitative research methods - questionnaire surveys conducted in the respective departments. These results are illustrated using graphs and tables.

The theoretical part deals with the definition of first aid, the providing of first aid, the evaluation of the patient's condition according to the ABCDE approach, the dividing of first aid into technical, lay and professional, an integrated rescue system and the teaching of first aid at primary schools. Furthermore, I focused on life-threatening conditions, among which I included changes of the level of consciousness, airway obstruction, emergency resuscitation, massive bleeding and shock. I tried to show how the life of a dialysis patient differs from a healthy person. The focus of the work is a qualitative exploratory investigation using a semi-structured interview. The examined sample consists of dialysis patients who regularly undergo dialysis at the Hemodialysis Center Havlíčkův Brod.
