This study of the final report on the research project “An Analysis of the Occurrence of the Harassment of Women and Men and Sexual Harassment at the Workplace”, conducted in 2004-2005 and commissioned by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. This project was the first in the Czech Republic whose aim was following the introduction of the definition of sexual harassment into the Czech legal code to conduct a complex analysis of the extent of the problem The study presents the results of surveys carried out as part of the project: a public opinion survey on harassment and sexual harassment at the workplace, semi-structured interviews with selected representatives of employers – human resources managers, case studies of victims of sexual harassment, focus groups containing representatives of trades unions.
Supporting men taking parental leave

Within the framework of the project a statistical analysis has been performed of the percentage of men and women collecting the contribution for parents. Furthermore an analysis has been conducted of legislative measures related to the eligibility of men to take parental leave. The focus of the project lies in a quantitative and qualitative survey the goal of which has been to: capture the attitudes of the population to the roles of the father and mother, map reasons and motives that influence menŽs decision to take parental leave, capture the everyday activities of caring fathers, map the attitudes of the immediate social group of these men, study the positive aspects of men taking the parental leave with respect to equal opportunities of both gender and define the main positive and negative factors that shape menŽs decision to take or not to take parental leave. The project has resulted in a proposal of recommendations that may help increase the incidence of men taking parental leave.
