Catastrophic flood in July 1997 contributed to dispersion of the invasive neophytes Reynoutria spp. in the Morávka river basin below Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mountains (Western Carpathian Mountains). Its vital population spreaded in undergrowth of floodplain forests and onto river gravel banks. The interest area is site of European importance in terms of Natura 2000, therefore here was done mechanical and chemical liquidation of the Reynoutria spp. in 2007-2009. The Project „Preservation of alluvial forest habitats in the Morávka river basin“was essentially financed by the Moravian-Silesian Region. Changing distribution of Reynoutria spp. was mapping utilization GIS technology.
Entry to phytoceonological and malacological differentiation of the natural borders of the geobiocoenoses in Středomoravské Karpaty mountains

Succession alluvial biotopes after the flood in 1997 in the area of the river Bečva

After the floods in 1997 on the Bečva river there appeared an opportunity for observing dynamic fluvial succession development of plant communities. Here we come with the comparison of three selected research areas: Lhotka nad Bečvou, „Pod Břehy“, Choryně, „vyústění Milotického potoka“ and Rybáře near by Drahotuš known as „Rybáře“. Selected research area is located in Zlin and Olomouc region, in Přerov and Vsetín districts. On each selected research area we have chosen 10 meters wide transects for detail vegetation mapping. Thus we have obtained new scientific data which were used for comparison with the same research areas ten years ago and in times between. Main aim of this contribution is to compare and evaluate dynamic fluvial successions after 10 years and to continue with studied transects for future research in observing dynamic fluvial succession on the Bečva river. Analyzed research resulting data can be valuable material environmental for precautions.
Geobiocoenological typification of Vihorlat mountains 40 years ago - recall

Carpathian Vihorlat mountains (120 – 1075 m) was differentiate by typological survey at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s to 23 group of types biogeocen in interval the 1st oak vegetation belt to the 5th fir-beech vegetation belt. Many releves and soil analysis is at disposal. Similar survey is necessary repeat after 40 years. This survey contibute to understanding of the development of the nature forests.
Application of phytosociological survey and GPS mapping in assessment of the elimination effects of invasive neophytes in the Morávka catchment

After disastrous flood in 1997, more distribution of invasive neophytes, particularly Reynoutria spp., was noticed in lower course of the River Morávka (including Special Area of Conservation The Morávka floodplain). The invasive neophytes expand both in flood-plain forest and on gravel bars, one of the last habitats for critically endangered species Myricaria germanica in the Czech Republic. Since 2006 the project „Rescue of floodplain habitats in the Morávka catchment” has been developed for maintaining and sustaining of autochthonous species, supported by European Union within the framework of Life Program. The mechanical and chemical combination of agents is used to eliminate the population of Reynoutria spp. This can negatively affect the occurrence of other species. The methods of phytosociological survey and GPS mapping is used to assess the efficiency of elimination action and its negative impacts.
The ten-year development of vegetation cover of the Bečva river flood channel with special regard to ecotones

During the disastrous flood in July 1997 the Bečva river created notable flood channels, which are considerably more complex and wider than the previous technically designed one. In the fall of the vegetation period in 1997 the six most interesting segments between towns Valašské Mežiříčí and Přerov were chosen and left in further natural development. During 10 years the processes of spontaneous succession have been examined by means of repeated phytosociological records on the investigative transects which have been located on various habitats. Dynamic development of river channel and its vegetation communities (from grassy-herbal heath to flood-plain forest and its ecotones) differentiated by hydrologic conditions, topography and grain-size distribution is very notable on the transect near Osek nad Bečvou. It is indisputable that the high-magnitude flood revitalizated the riverine landscape, diversified its character and contributed to the higher biodiverisity.
Ecotons as a dynamic part of floodplain landscape

Varied mosaic of diverse biocoenoses and ecotons rises by natural fluvial processes in alluvium. Dynamic development of vegetation cover was studied in years 1997 – 2007 in flood river bed of Bečva river. Variable mosaic of biocoenoses and ecotons of Bečva river floodplain is considerably varier than regulated and flood undisturbed riverine landscape of Trkmanka river.
Physical geographical typology of small towns of Moravia and Silesia

Solving the project “Geography of small towns” the specifics of these numerous settlements were researched even from the view of various physical geographical disciplines, mainly geomorphology and biogeography. During the last phase three indexes for physical geographical typology of small towns and their hinterlands were selected: types of relief, vegetation belts and types of contemporary landscape. On the basis of their synthesis the set of 124 towns was differentiated into 18 types. Typology presents that small towns of Moravia and Silesia are located in very various environments and are surrounded by varied mosaic of types of contemporary agricultural, agricultural-forested and forested landscapes.
Influence of mining and preparation of uranium ore surroundings Dolní Rožínka on biodiversity and landscape character

Mining and preparation of uranium ore belong to the fields of human activity which significantly affect – both directly and vicariously – geosystem of landscape. The abiotic environment changes (landforms, both physical and chemical properties of soil and water, topoclimate) alongside with biotopes and biodiversity. Locally the landscape character noticeably changes.
