Cryogenic He experiment on Natural Turbulent Convection
Králík, Tomáš ; Urban, Pavel ; Musilová, Věra ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Srnka, Aleš ; Repisky, Andrej
Cryogenic helium gas is a suitable fluid for study of natural turbulent convection at very high Rayleigh numbers. We present experimental method and new result on Reynolds and Péclet numbers characterizing large scale circulation (LSC) of fluid at Rayleigh numbers within the range from 1011 to 1015. Observation of LSC is based on measurement of local temperature fluctuations of convecting helium. For experiments we used a specially designed cylindrical cell of height L = 0.3 m and diameter D = 0.3 m with minimized parasitic effects on studied convection, previously published on CryoPrague 2006 [1].
Radiative Heat Transfer at Low Temperatures over Microscopic Distances in Vacuum
Králík, Tomáš ; Musilová, Věra ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Horák, Michal ; Srnka, Aleš
We present experimental results on heat transfer between plane parallel surfaces of samples separated with microscopic vacuum gap. Radiative heat flux between metallic samples exceeding 50 times heat flux between black surfaces was observed for gaps of several micrometres at temperatures below 50 K. Comparison with near field theory of radiative heat transfer is presented.
Marketing of Green Companies
Nováková, Pavla ; Štědroň, Bohumír (advisor) ; Králík, Tomáš (referee)
The goal of this Master's Thesis was to map and asses marketing of Green Companies in the Czech Republic and abroad and based on some basic characteristics to evaluate the economical profitability of this business and its future prospects. The Thesis is about ecological products and customer's possibilities to become informed enough about them and to choose the right one. The Thesis focuses on some companies operating on the energy market. These companies are very often placed on the top of green rankings. Based on my experience environmental activity is evaluated in the department of operating leasing in the ČSOB Leasing a.s. company.
Emissivity and in situ measurement of amount of water condensed on a metallic sample
Musilová, Věra ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Králík, Tomáš
Thermal radiation emissivity of technically pure aluminium contaminated by water condensate was obtained by measurement of the heat transferred between two parallel surfaces, the surface of the aluminium sample and of a dielectric layer used as a reference “black surface”. In situ measured water amount was derived from the heat transferred by vapour of subliming water during ramp of the sample temperature from 5 K to 300 K.
Black surfaces for cryogenic applications
Králík, Tomáš ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Srnka, Aleš
Primary motivation of this work was to find a suitable coating for baffles of cryopump and to develop a reference black surface in apparatus for emissivity and absorptivity measurements.
Černé povrchy pro použití v kryotechnice
Králík, Tomáš ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Musilová, Věra ; Srnka, Aleš
Surfaces with high absorption or emission of thermal radiation are often needed in cryogenic and space applications. It is more difficult to realize a sufficiently black surface applicable in cryogenic systems than to make highly reflective surfaces. Experimental results on black surfaces like epoxy coatings, paints and thin films concerning the thermal radiative properties (emissivity and absorptivity) in the temperature range from 20 K to 300 K of the source of the thermal radiation are presented.

For more than 30 years thermal measurement results and analytical formulas are available to calculate the heat transfer through Super Insulation (SI). According to the temperature dependence of the emissivity for aluminium, the most commonly used material for the reflecting surfaces, derivations based on the Stefan-Boltzmann-Law for radiative heat transfer have been established. Together with conductive terms this leads to formulas for the calculation of heat transfer through SI. Using new measurement results of temperature-dependent emissivity and conductivity we have performed heat flux calculations applying common software tools. The heat transfer through the SI and the temperature distribution inside the SI calculated with this new approach has been compared with the established formulas and measurement results.
Měření čerpací rychlosti kryovývěvy pomocí kalibrované heliové netěsnosti
Urban, Pavel ; Dupák, Jan ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Králík, Tomáš ; Musilová, Věra
This article describes the application of a calibrated He leak for measurement of the pumping speed of a small UHV helium bath cryopump. The pumping speed for He gas was measured with two versions of the optical baffles of the cryopump. The results were compared with the calculations by Monte Carlo simulation
Emisivita a absorptivita tepelného záření povrchů konstrukčních kovů za velmi nízkých teplot
Musilová, Věra ; Hanzelka, Pavel ; Králík, Tomáš ; Srnka, Aleš
Comparison of thermal radiation properties of surfaces of several metals commonly used in cryogenics is presented. We have measured heat absorbed by a surface of Cu, Al and stainless steel kept at a temperature of about 5 K - 10 K. The source of heat was a parallel black surface placed in a small distance from a tested sample. As a result of our measurement, the dependences of absorptivity on the temperature of the heat radiation source are plotted between 30 K and 140 K. The influence of different types of metal treatment, e.g. chemical and mechanical surface finish and annealing, on radiation heat transfer is presented

In the described device, the thermal emissivity or absorptivity of the sample is measured by substitution of the radiative heat flow between two parallel surfaces by thermal output of a heater. Fast measurements of the mutual emissivity for the range of the temperature of the radiating surface 25 K - 150 K are possible. The absorbing surface has a temperature between 5 K and 10 K when LHe is used as cryoliquid. The desired measurement sensitivity is 1 mK for temperature and 0.1 mikroW for heat power, respectively. The diameter of the whole device is 50 mm and so it is possible to use a commercial Dewar can for the cooling. The form of the sample is a circular plate 40 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness with one tested side. The emissivity and its temperature dependence for various surface treatments can be checked immediately before application in a cryogenic system
