Vegetable oil as a fuel for a diesel engine
Kuběna, Pavel ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis offers an opportunity to get closely acquainted with ignition engines running on alternative fuels. At the beginning of this work the reader is offered a wide variety of alternative fuels since born automotive industry, their basic information, features, use, and technical issues of each fuel. In the following part of this thesis, the author deals only with vegetable oil and its potential use as a fuel in an ignition internal combustion engine. It focuses on the specific conversion vehicles, their complexity, advantages and disadvantages, the overall economy of operation and risks of using vegetable oil instead of conventional diesel fuel. There is also documented performance characteristics and ecological balance of a particular target vehicle.
Four-cylinder in-line diesel engine with an eccentric crank for commercial vehicles
Ducheček, Martin ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the influence of eccentricity of crank mechanism to the force between the piston and the cylinder liner for appointed crank mechanism. Furthermore the influence of eccentricity to balancing crankshaft is verified and for selected value of eccentricity is realized balance. For the construction check was realized stress analysis of crank mechanism included torsion vibration.
Gearbox design of a petrol six-cylinder aircraft engine
Novák, Lukáš ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This thesis is about design of reducer for six-cylinder aircraft engine. There are processed every parts of reducer and the assembly with crankshaft, torsional vibration of complete assembly and calculation of service life of every individual part.
Hybrid vehicle propulsion
Sommer, Matěj ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis sums up a comprehensive overview of all possible ways of hybrid propulsion and points out the andvatages and disadvantages of each of these designs with special attention to fuel cell vehicles. It includes a presentation of my own opinions regarding this issue and an estimation of future development of hybrid propulsion technologies and their place on the market with personal vehicles.
Renewal energy in HPV

Steam Engine
Koutník, Štěpán ; Nedoma, Jiří (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
The thesis focuses on a steam engine. At first the thesis describes its historical evolution, applications and parts. Consequently, the thermodynamic cycle of the steam engine is analysed. The second part deals with modern applications of the steam engine in automotive industry and others.
MEB modular platform for electric cars
Tkach, Svitlana ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the possibilities of the newly developed modular electric drive matrix MEB of the Volkswagen Group. The aim was to create a research study about technical parameters of the platform and the possibilities of its use for various categories of vehicles not only within the Volkswagen Group, but also the offer to competing manufacturers. In conclusion of the bachelor’s thesis is formulated the impact of technologies, offered by the modular electric drive matrix, on the development and production of electric vehicles and the related possibility of a reversal in the expansion of electric drive.
Modification of a four cylinder diesel engine to a single cylinder test engine
Mátyás, Attila ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This thesis deals with modification of an existing four-cylinder diesel engine to a singlecylinder research engine. The work is divided into four main parts. The first part is theoretical, briefly describes research engines, their individual types and provides an overview of their functions. The second part of the work includes the modification of a four-cylinder diesel engine to a single-cylinder research engine, focusing mainly on balancing inertia forces. The third, most extensive chapter contains the structural analysis of the crankshaft. The last part contains the design of a torsional coupling, which ensures the connection of the engine with the dynamometer.
Four cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles
Nikolaychuk, Yaroslav ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The diploma thesis focuses on the design of the crankshaft for a four-cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles, the main task of this work are the design configuration of the crankshaft balance inertia forces and torques at the crank mechanism, drawing documentation crankshaft design strength check considering torsional vibration.
Human Povered Vehicle
Schneider, Adam ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
