Bark beetles in forest ecosystems with disparate disturbance regimes
Zemanová, Jana ; Horák, Jakub (advisor) ; Jiří, Jiří (referee)
This thesis evaluated the influence of the forest environment with various rate of disturbance. Studied sites were left to spontaneous succession. The method of trunk window traps was used. These traps were divided into pairs at monitored sites. Each pair comprised active (with yellow label attached) and passive trap. The influence on the bark beetles was evaluated by statistical analysis. In total, 346 individuals were captured and 12 species of bark beetles were identified. The influences of the environment (circumference of tree trunk, canopy openness, dead wood, altitude and type of trap) were significant for the number of individuals, the total body length, the width of shield and the length of elytron. Wing length was only affected by circumference of tree trunk, canopy openness and dead wood. Number of species was only influenced by altitude.
Issue of deer ked from the perspective of efficiency of repellents
Hallová, Elen ; Horák, Jakub (advisor) ; Lukášová, Karolína (referee)
This bachelor thesis summarises information about hematophagous Deer ked (Lipoptena cervi), which attacks animals living in the wild and also humans. This topic is interesting particularly because of the global threat to human by haematophagous insects while continuous expansion of its distributional range. There is described external morphology and sexual dimorphism using electron microscopy. Due to an increased cases of incidences of Lipoptena cervi on humans there is description of production of a natural insect repellent and test of its effectiveness at selected sites outdoors with the help of test methods on human volunteers. Briefly, the thesis analysed the possibility of transmission of infectious diseases Lipoptena cervi. Biorepelent repeled Lipoptena cervi 100% even though it is a hematophagous, Lipoptena cervi has not yet been established as a carrier of pathogens, infections and other diseases on humans.
Saproxylic moths and their interaction with forest ecosystems
Rada, Patrik ; Horák, Jakub (advisor) ; Vladimír, Vladimír (referee)
The thesis deals with saproxylic moths (Lepidoptera). For many of them is their obligatory relation to the dead wood relatively little known. The thesis gives comprehensive knowledge about these species in the form of a literature review. It is based on the widespread modern definition of saproxylicity, so it covers a larger spectrum of species that are dependent by their development cycle upon wood. The result is a summary of information about each saproxylic family and individual representatives. It is also the view of the issue of collecting insects, fruit body of fungi or wood that are hosted by insects and their subsequent rearing until the emerge of imagos. Future research of this topic should be focused mainly on mapping of the occurence of these species and knowledge of their enviromental claims.
Modern Biogas Station as Part of "Smart Regions"
Horák, Jakub ; Pavel,, Milčák (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of computational model of a biogas plant and its use in the concept of intelligent region with focusing on district heating and cooling network. The introduction contains review of technology used in the biogas plant. This review covers the description of modern biogas plants and determination of the energy and technology parameters for computational model of biogas plant. The next part of thesis describes analyze of the dynamics of the operation and the possibilities of using waste heat from biogas plant. The last and also the most important part is based on design of computational model of a biogas plant and design of connection of a biogas plant to the district heating and cooling network.
Barier films based on polyparaxylylene and their properties
Horák, Jakub ; Mazánková, Věra (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on preparation and characterization of parylene C barrier properties. The layers were prepared by chemical vapour deposition (CVD). The interest in characterization of those layers is huge mainly because of their possible use in museology for the protection of the museum archives against the corrosion. Chlorinated dimer of para-xylylene was used as a precursor. Polypropylene foils, metal sheets and silica wafers were used as tested substrates for thin film preparation. Polypropylene foils were used for oxygen transmission rate measurements, metal sheets were used for corrosion tests and silica wafers were used for Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and stylus profilometry.
Diagnostics of thin film barrier properties
Horák, Jakub ; Mazánková, Věra (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
This thesis is focused on characterization of the SiOx thin layers properties prepared by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD). The layers were characterized with regard to its future possible use for the protection of the museum archives against the corrosion. Liquid hexamethyldisiloxane was used as a precursor. Polypropylene foils and silica wafers were used as substrates for thin film preparation. Metal sheets were chosen for corrosion tests. Methods such as permeation rate measurement (oxygen transmission rate - OTR), Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ellipsometry and simple corrosion tests of steel sheets coated and uncoated by SiOx thin layer were used for the layer properties characterization.
Measurement of the properties of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels)
Horák, Jakub ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Moskalík, Jiří (advisor)
Nowadays there are large numbers of standard methods for measuring the properties of fuels. With the increasing number of new methods to an already confusing issue of measurement of fuel becomes even more confusing. This thesis therefore deals with the measurement of the energy properties of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels). The introduction is carried out searches of solid and liquid fuels (biofuels). Search is focused on the description of each type of fuel, their properties and adjustments to the final form suitable for combustion. The next part deals with the sampling of fuel, which divides the sampling and preparation of samples for laboratory testing. The last section describes the methods of measurement of selected energy fuel properties and selects appropriate methods. Methods of measurement of selected properties is then checked in the laboratory.
