Type II diabetes mellitus. In the theoretical part, we deal with the issue of the patient's concept of illness. Next, we describe the disease Diabetes mellitus and its characteristics, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment and complications. The theoretical part concludes with the patient's association with the disease from the point of view of nursing and the method of its detection. The empirical part is based on the results of the quantitative standardized questionnaire IPQ-R-CZ and is its extended version. A total of 50 respondents with type II diabetes mellitus took part in the research. The questionnaire investigates symptoms, the concept of the disease, the patient's opinion about the disease and possible causes of the disease.

Nurses were randomly chosen in two selected clinics of university hospital in Hradec Králové. The purpose of the theoretical part was to present personality concepts in general, stress theory, symptoms of stress and reactions to stress. Besides it also presents resilience in face of adversity. There is a separate chapter which is focused on resilience in particular.
