Management plan of small water supply reservoirs of Hamry type

The aim of the methodology is to provide managers and users of small water reservoirs Hamry type with methodological tools for optimization of the water quality monitoring based on the current level of knowledge and research. Furthermore, provides a design of a methodology for fish community monitoring and optimization of treatments to reduce unwanted fish species and strengthen the status of suitable fish species with the aim of achieving the topdown effect and maintaining or improving water quality in these water reservoirs. The presented methodology summarizes the findings obtained during the monitoring and evaluation of selected parameters of water quality, planktonic and fish communities in water supply reservoirs Hamry in recent years. It also contains an evaluation of applied treatments, focused mainly on fish stock. Unwanted fish species were caught and the predatory fish were stocked with the aim of optimizing the fish community composition and positively influencing the quality of the water in the reservoirs. The methodology contains recommendations for monitoring of the water quality in the reservoir, including monitoring of planktonic communities, monitoring of fish and recommended manipulation with fish stock. The methodology provides guidance and information for optimization of monitoring and treatments for small water supply reservoirs of the Hamry type.

Monitoring of the environment and zooplankton, zoobenthos and fish assemblages of ponds and waterbodies in Czech castle parks was performed. The results were used as a source data for proposals and evaluations of biomanipualtion and biomeliorative measures on selected reservoirs.
The development of physical, chemical and biological parameters of water in new constructed natural swimming pools.

The goal of this work was to evaluate of water quality in natural swimming pools in Borovany and Sezimovo Ústí, to compare the differences in the results of water analyses in proper swimming water body and regenerative part, as well as to compare of both these localities. Most of results were gathered during 2016 in Borovany and during 2017 in Sezimovo Usti. Transparency, color of water, temperature, conductivity, concentration of dissolved O2, concentrations of NH4-N, NO2-N, NO3-N, TN, PO4-P, TP, Cl, turbidity, fluorescence, chlorophyll concentration, alkalinity, zooplankton and phytoplankton composition and bacterial contamination were monitored. The results confirmed the possibility to achieve the good water quality even though the problem with phosphorus removing remains. The comparison of both site showed more efficient functioning of regenerative zone in Borovany natural swimming pool.

Title of diploma thesis: Evaluation of Production Parameters in Farming Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) of Two Different Lines and of Type Scaliness. The goal of diploma thesis was the evaluation of the production and disposition of the scaly and scaleless line carp kept for production purposes. The test took place in the year 2015 on three similar size fishponds with semi-intensive pisciculture, which manages the company Štičí líheň ESOX, spol. s r.o. On each fishpond has deployed 800 pieces of squamous and 800 pieces of scaleless forms of carp. The fishponds, where the test was conducted, followed the hydrochemical of the water parameters, the quantity and diversity of zooplankton. In the evaluation of production characteristics, was placed the greatest emphasis on the evaluation of the growth, losses during breeding, the production of the fishpond, longitude-weight parameters and the analysis of fish tissues for the evaluation of the quality of the meat and the condition of the fish. From the results, it was found less of survival by scaleless form, but despite this was scaleless form compared to higher production. When evaluating the fishponds each other to achieve the highest survival in both forms of the scaliness on the fishpond Kačeřík. The highest production was achieved on the fishpond Jaroška. The worst results of survival and production have been achieved on the fishpond Černýšovický.
Vliv biomanipulací s účelovou rybí obsádkou na vývoj kvality vody vodárenské nádrže Hamry

I have dealt in my thesis with biomanipulation on the water reservoir Hamry. The reservoir is located near the village Hamry in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, it is meso-eutrofního character and its size (about 42 ha of water surface) and an average depth of 2 m is ranked among the smaller, shallow tank. Biomanipulation measures are there implementation and monitored in the long term (since 2008).Biomanipulation implemented in 2015, which mainly consist of removing unwanted species of fish from the reservoir were implemented by different methods at all ontogenetic levels of fish. That means collecting eggs perch Perca fluviatilis, L., seinings of juvenile stages panktivorous species of fish, as well as seinings and elimination of adult unwanted fish species. Part of the seinings were catching spawning shoals of bream Abramis brama, L. and roach Rutilus rutilus, L. With those biomanipalition actions was carried collection and evaluation of samples of zooplankton, phytoplankton, hydrochemical analyzes and physico-chemical parameters of water. Also were investigated phosphorus content in sediments. Some of the data I obtained and evaluated actively (especially zooplankton), other data were evaluated by specialists from ÚBO AV ČR Brno, or employees of the Department of Fisheries and Hydrobiology at the Institute of Zoology, Fisheries, Hydrobiology and Apiculture MENDELU Brno and I have only used this data to compare the efficiency of the imlpemented biomanipulation.
Seasonal and long-term dynamic of plankton communities of small water-bodies

Zooplankton pool-inhabiting organisms form metacommunities and metapopulations. Locations are connected through dispersion which is an essential part of colonization-extinction dynamic. Locations vary with the environmental conditions, the specifics of the community and the biotic interactions taking place there. Differences in these parameters may occur between spatially separated pools or in one pool throughout time. These changes are caused by seasonal dynamics, disturbances, long-term development of environmental conditions or biotic factors such as predation, competition and parasite influence. On a long-term scale the locations are classified into rather stable and ephemeral. In pool environment the ephemeral locations may unexpectedly be the driving force of metacommunity and metapopulation processes according to the "inverse mainland-island" theory. Global climate change has an essential influence on zooplankton dynamic in smaller water-bodies. Hydrology of pools and through it also life dynamics of plankton organisms is directly influenced by temperature changes and precipitation. Regional metacommunity and metapopulation dynamics are changing in dependency on regional course of climate change and the specifics of these water-bodies and the communities living there.
Zooplankton response to a change of water chemistry and amount of food during the recovery of lakes from acidification

Anthropogenic acidification has affected assemblages in thousands of lakes in North America and Europe. It turned out that, during the acidification, the number of zooplankton changed and also the species composition of their assemblages, at some sites there was also the total disappearance. The main reason was a decrease of pH, wash out toxic aluminium and a change of trophic status. The rate and extent of biological recovery after restoring the pH in acidified lakes varies considerably across regions. Recovery of aquatic communities is significantly lagging behind the recovery in chemistry. Some zooplankton species are nonetheless able to quickly colonize recuperating ecosystems and in many acidified lakes again started to appear native species that have disappeared during acidification. The return of indigenous species, however, can be blocked acid-tolerant occurrence of species after species extinct occupied empty niches. Zooplankton can be affected by water chemistry directly, but also indirectly by the quality and quantity of food. An important factor is the possible spread of colonizing species. However, the relative roles of these factors in regulating recovery may be difficult to determine. Key words: zooplankton, acidification, water chemistry, aluminium toxicity, phytoplankton
Diversity of European freshwater cyclopoid species: phylogeny, morphology and ecology

Cyclopoids are together with Calanoids and Harpacticoids a part of the largest, very diverse group of crustaceans and the most numerous aquatic metazoans of the world. The history of their research goes as far back as to the beginning of 19th century when the first cyclopoid copepods were described. The taxonomy of cyclopoids started to develop gradually since that time, adding new and more detailed methods and morphological characters, as well as a certain degree of taxonomical confusion. In last decades, the molecular-genetic techniques of DNA sequencing have become available offering a new independent tool for taxonomists. This work contains different studies concerning the morphology, taxonomy, ecology, distribution and colonisation of cyclopoid copepods, with the use of molecular tools as a uniting element. Chapter 1 of this thesis summarizes basic knowledge about the taxonomy, morphology and biology of cyclopoid copepods and introduces the following chapters containing four studies presented as single publications. The taxonomy of copepods of the genus Cyclops is based mainly on the morphology which is sometimes ambivalent and some of the most problematic species groups are presented here. Seasonal dynamics and vertical distribution of Crustacea in the deep stratified reservoir Josefův Důl (the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic)

The zooplankton of Josefův Důl, a large and deep drinking water reservoir recovering from acidification, develop in relation to the improving water chemistry but also predation by salmonid fish re-stocked at the end of the 1990s. Crustacea are represented by small numbers of several species only, and nothing is known about their distribution in the water column. Recently, picocyanobacteria Merismopedia sp. became dominant in the phytoplankton, which hampers substantially the treatability of the raw water. The aim of the thesis is to describe the seasonal dynamics and vertical distribution of Crustacea in the Josefův Důl reservoir, together with parameters of the environment, and to study their possible diurnal vertical migrations in the summer period.
