Most important results of the investigation of the impact oscillator dynamics obtained during finished projects GA CR and COST

The investigation of the dynamics of oscillator with soft impacts explained the development of non-linear phenomena, when the oscillator transits from the linear one into the oscillator with rigid impacts,described by the Newton elementary theory. Two symmetrically arranged oscillators was studied theoretically and using the numerical simulation with the aim of their application in the forming.
Ambiguousness and basins of attraction of the oscillator with soft impacts

Dynamics of oscillators with soft impacts is characterized, in the comparison with oscillators with rigid impacts, by the existence of subharmonic impact motions, which should be excited by special motion initial conditions. The investigation of such motions was performed using the evaluation of basins of attraction of the oscillator motion regimes. New impact motions were ascertained and general conclusions were formulated.
Kmitání soustav s vůlí a s předpětím

Systém s jedním stupněm volnosti s vůlí nebo s předpětím byl analyzován pomocí numerických simulací. Na průbězích resonančních křivek byl studován vliv kladné nebo záporné vůle a ukázány existence vícerázových kvaziperiodických a chaotických pohybů a tvar resonančních vrcholů.
Transition from impactless into impact motion in oscillators with soft impacts

This paper presents new results of the investigation of the oscillator with soft impact and triangle model of impact interactions. Transition between two types of impactless motion is expained and the influence of impact energy losses on the system dynamics in shown. Inverse grazing viburcation is defined and two types of motion with equal impact number are distinguished.
Oscillator with Hertzs model of soft impacts

Dynamic properties of the mechanical system with one degree of freedom containing soft stop are investigated. Dynamical impact model respects the non-linearity of the restoring contact force between solid bodies as function of deformation according to the Hertz theory. The explanation of the system motion behaviour, when static clearance decreases up to negative values, which express the static prestress, is the main aim of this paper.
Subharmonic motions of the oscillator with soft impacts

The excited one degree of freedom mechanical system with soft impacts, characterised by triangle hysteresis loop, is investigated using numerical simulation. Small viscous damping is assumed. Phenomena of subharmonic motions are explained by regions of their existence and stability in plane of dimensionless excitation frequency and static clearance. Bifurcation diagrams are evaluated during quasistationary changes of frequency by constant clearance.
Chaotic Motions of Impact Oscillator with Kelvin-Voigt Impact Model Investigated by Numerical Simulation

Response curves of vibroimpact system

Dynamical properties of 1DOF mechanical system impacting on soft stop are studied at excitation by harmonic force. Soft stop is of Hertzs type with viscous damping. Properties of system are analyzed by means of response curves obtained by simulation of motion at slow variation of excitation frequency. Response curves are completed by phase plane trajectories at selected frequencies and time history record. The influences of clearance in system on the response curves, type and level of oscillations are presented. This paper is in narrow connection with contribution [1], where the regions of various type of oscillations of the same system are analyzed.
Regions of subharmonic motions of the oscillator with Hertz's model of impact

There were obtained new laws of dynamics of impact oscillators with soft impacts. They will be partially explained using oscillator with the Hertz model of soft impact. Special features of motion with soft impacts in the comparison with the motion with rigid impacts will be shown by the evaluation of regions of existence and basins of attraction of different subharmonic impact motions.

Abstrakt:The dynamics of oscillators with soft impacts is a new direction in the investigation of strongly non-linear systems in the Institute of Thermomechanics. Notion 'soft' is used for an impact, the duration of which is impossible to neglect, unlthe 'rigid' impact described by the Newton elementary theory with coefficient of restitution. It signifies that there exist a large variety of mathematical models of soft impacts corresponding to every real practical situation, which should be invested. The numerical simulation of non-linear system dynamics is the most effective method for it.
