Data in the CITES trade database and their interpretation
VRŠECKÁ, Lucie
An international trade in endangered species of plants and animals is regulated by CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Information on trades are available in CITES Trade Database. However, there are a lot of mistakes and discrepancies in this database that lead to inaccurate interpretation of data. The aim of this thesis was to: (1) identify mistakes in the database, record types and their possible ways of interpretation and (2) quantify the volumes of trade based on different ways of data interpretations in selected species of the family Ursidae. There were found 19 different combinations of missing data, except by unlisted unit and traded quantity specified only by one state of the trade and 5 types of record interpretation. Data were compared with the CITES annual records reported by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. This thesis contains also recommendations for evaluation of international trade.

Drainage water chemistry in geochemically contrasting catchments
Krám, Pavel ; Myška, Oldřich ; Čuřík, J. ; Veselovský, F. ; Hruška, Jakub
Three small forested catchments, each underlain by geochemically contrasting silicate rock types, were studied in the Slavkov Forest, western Czech Republic. Hydrochemical patterns were ascertained by concurrent stream water and soil water sampling. Th e catchments served as valuable representatives of contrasting terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem resilience to anthropogenic acidifi cation.

Forest floor respiration of tuczno scots pine stands
Urbaniak, M. ; Pavelka, Marian ; Heronim Chojnicky, B. ; Juszczak, R. ; Dařenová, Eva ; Baran, M. ; Danielewska, A. ; Ziemblinska, K. ; Olejnik, Janusz
Tuczno forest is a 60-year-old Scots pine stand that is located in the North-West part of Poland. During the period between 20th and 25th August 2012 an experiment consisting of the measurement of forest fl oor CO2 effl ux was carried out. For this purpose, manual chamber systems were used. Measurements were taken at 60 collars located on a rectangular plot 25m x 45m. Th is research area was located in the range of footprint of the Eddy-covariance (EC) tower. Th e preliminary results indicate that the average CO2 effl ux from the forest fl oor, as measured during the experiment (5.09 μmol m-2 s-1), is lower than the total ecosystem respiration, estimated from EC data (6.25 μmol m-2 s-1). Spatial variability of soil CO2 effl ux (Rs) can be explained by humus thickness (Ht) variability; however, the tree root respiration can be considered a valuable part of CO2 emission from the forest bottom.

Amphibians of the Protected landscape area Blaník
ČANDA, Jan
The principal aim of this diploma thesis was the mapping of amphibian species inhabiting the Protected Landscape Area Blaník. The field research was carried out during the years 2005 to 2006. The occurrence of following 8 species and 1 synklepton was confirmed: Smooth Newt (Triturus vulgaris), Warty Newt (Triturus cristatus), Alpine Newt (Triturus alpestris), Fired Bellied Toad (Bombina bombina), Common Spadefood (Pelobates fuscus), Common Toad (Bufo bufo), European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea), Grass Frog (Rana temporaria) and Water Frogs (Rana synklepton esculenta). The determination was performed on the basis of morphologic characters and voice expressions. During the field research suitable reproductive habitats of particular species were studied with respect to numbers of specimens found there. Based on presented results, habitats valuable for protection mere marked. The records of particular species were written into maps of the species occurance.

Biodiversity protection of military districts
ČERNÍKOVÁ, Lenka
Military districts are areas set aside for the needs of national defense. Their operation is governed by Act No. 222/1999 Coll. the defense of the Czech Republic, which in the sixth part contains the basic provisions of the Military Regions. According to this Act is to train the armed forces, five military districts - Boletice, Brdy, Brezina, and Libavá Hradiste. Access to these sites is restricted only to permit the movement and the marked trails. In terms of nature conservation is the military regions to the most valuable and most preserved area. Since 1992, governed by Act No. 114/1992 Coll. on nature and landscape. Is there a number of protected species of flora and fauna. For its uniqueness have also become part of Natura 2000.

Holistic approach in nephrology out-patient care
NOVOTNÁ, Anna
This Bachelor´s work deals with the holistic approach to clients of nefrological departments. It would confront the approach of nurses with patients´ expectations. Nefrological patients are people of any age with acute or chronic renal dysfunction which needs special care of medical staff. A nefrological care is a process of planning, evaluating and special care and treatment of nefrological patients. People are cultural and spiritual beings who acquire a mind-body-spirit healing care. A holistic approach helps us get more information of clients and with it meet their mind-bodyspirit needs. The aim of this survey has been to gain information about the care and medical staff approach to patients in nefrological departments, if nurses can see mind-bodyspirit aspects in their patients. The hypotheses and research questions were set like this: Clients are not given a holistic care. The attention is not paid to mind-body-spirit needs of clients. Can nurses see clients of nefrological departments holisticly? The hypotheses assumed at the beginning were not proved. The patients of the nefrological department where I did the survey are treated holisticly and a special attention is paid to meeting mind-body-spirit requirements of the clients. The nurses of these departments can see their patients holisticly. The results of this work are really valuable and beneficial because nefrological departments are basic and important parts in the complex preparation of patients to further therapeutic methods.

The mammalian coat - a source of phylogenetically valuable characters?
VOLDŘICHOVÁ, Marie
Annotation I have tried to describe various components of a mammalian coat and it´s relation to the function and phylogeny of this structure. Finally I have described some coat structures which could be used as a diagnostic features. I have also tried to chose some coat markings and structures in cervids, which I would like to use in my next work about relation of fur features to the phylogeny of the family Cervidae. This work is based on a literal rewiew. My conclusions from these published sources are also discussed .

Alternation elites in the village Studená in 1948. The fates of two businessman and ganges of the small-town during the post-February.
BARTUŠEK, Petr
Annotation Through the analysis of the alternation of the elites in the municipality of Studená and the after - February fates of two businessmen, I tried to describe the transformations of the small town in the course of the period of three republics and mainly during the high Stalinism. I substantiated, inter alia, the replacement of the small town elites by two examples of Jan Satrapa and Karel Bartušek whose fates appeared to be very applicable for this way approached case study. I also attempted to record the changes of the common cultural and ideological period trends within this municipality. Directed through the specific fates, I described the shape of the small town after February 25, 1948 and compared it with the specialised literature thereby I tried to place the case of Studená in the contemporary context. To acheive the needed results, I used the sources of personal data and the memory data (family and municipal chronicles), conversations with survivors, and likewise the books of Vlasta Javořická. They proved to be extremely valuable sources.

Precipitation variability in the czech land since ad 1500. How strong is the signal contained within documentary sources?
Dobrovolný, Petr ; Brázdil, Rudolf ; Trnka, Miroslav ; Kotyza, O. ; Valášek, H.
Past climate may be reconstructed from a number of proxies. Some of them are “natural archives”, such as tree rings, ice cores and boreholes, most of which are sensitive to air temperature. Other valuable information can be also found in “man-made archives”. Various sources of documentary data very oft en refer not only to temperature but also to other aspects of past weather and climate, such as dry and wet periods. We use the long and homogeneous precipitation series from the recent instrumental period to calibrate precipitation indices derived from older documentary sources. Th e primary objective of this contribution is to provide a quantitative reconstruction of precipitation in the Czech Lands for the last 500 years. Calibration and verifi cation statistics are used to evaluate the strength of the signal. Reconstructed precipitation series are compared with similar Central European documentary-based reconstructions, as well as with reconstructions based on a range of natural proxies.

Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk – the Life for Democracy
Broklová, Eva
T. G. Masaryk is still a relevant source of scholarly ideas and methods. Especially valuable is his political realism, conception of Czechoslovak statehood and presidency. The essence of his political principles is rooted in democracy and humanistic ideals, relevant to private, public as well as national life.
