Problems with seraching information on the Internet
Kmoníčková, Adéla ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Chudán, David (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with problems while searching for information on the Internet. The goal of this thesis is to increase the knowledge of underused ways of searching as well as to cover the history of the searching and analysis of user´s behaviour. The theoretical part is devoted to the history of the Internet and Internet search. Subsequently there are mentioned the different types of Internet search engines with specific advantages and disadvantages. The last theoretical chapter shows the ways how to facilitate the discovery and increase its relevance. The practical part of my thesis is based on survey evaluation relating to search behaviour of the Internet users. Second chapter of this part describes the development of user search behaviour on the Internet using the surveys from 2010 to 2016.
Modernization of public ground transport through the use of 21st century technologies
Lokajíček, Miloš ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šperková, Lucie (referee)
The thesis deals with the benefits of modern technologies to public land transport, an area which has not been notably impacted by modern technologies to this day. The work anal-yses both the way modern technologies can help transport companies, and also which tech-nologies in particular can bring something new to the conservative sector. The specific ob-jectives of the thesis are the analysis of D2D systems key components, benefits of Yield Management to the transport industry and implementation of carriers into the Bileto plat-form.

Problems with searching for information on the Internet
Ngo Anh, Tuan ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Bělohoubková, Lenka (referee)
This bachelor thesis is about the problem of searching for information on the Internet. The goal of this thesis is to provide important information on how internet search engines work, with special attention paid to the full-text search engine. The paper was divided into several parts. In the first part I focused on the description of the functioning of full-text search. In the second part, I discussed the other types of search engines, and I have listed their advantages and disadvantages. In the third part, I focused on the formulation of search queries. I dedicated next part of the paper to introduce some specific search engines and services they offer. The last part of the thesis refers to the survey, which highlights the problems encountered by users when searching for information on the Internet.
Effect of the Czech Stemming Algorithm on the Document Retrieval
Pytelka, Petr ; Strossa, Petr (advisor) ; Pinkas, Otakar (referee)
This thesis deals with the measurement of the quality of the stemming/lemmatization algo-rithm for the Czech language in document processing systems and provides an analysis of the results. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the principles of the full-text search, the possibilities of implementation as well as the common problems which have to be solved in connection with the processing of natural language. Methods of evaluating the quality of lemmatization, using recall and precision, are discussed. In addition, the theoret-ical part covers the method of measuring the index of under-stemming and over-stemming, which can be applied for the purposes of a more detailed evaluation. An experiment for evaluating the lemmatization algorithms is proposed in the second part of the thesis. A specialized application has been developed to perform the experiment in three different systems, namely Apache Lucene, the PostgreSQL database systems and the Microsoft SQL Server. The experiment is based on the Prague Dependency Treebank cor-pus. It has been carried out both for the corpus as a whole and for selected word classes separately. Further analysis of the results for Czech stemmer in Apache Lucene leads to a proposal for several modifications of the algorithm. Such modifications result in measurable improvements. The results achieved show how metrics discussed, together with the values measured, can be used for improving the lemmatization algorithms and thus to improve the full-text search for Czech language.
Repository for results of association rules data mining tasks in SEWEBAR project
Marek, Tomáš ; Šimůnek, Milan (advisor) ; Svátek, Vojtěch (referee)
This diploma thesis aims at design and implementation of I:ZI Repository application. I:ZI Repository application provides management of data mining tasks and theirs results repository and functions for search in this repository. I:ZI Repository is a REST API build on top of Java EE technology, Berkeley XML database is used for storing data mining tasks. I:ZI Repository application was created based on XQuery search application. The application has completely new structure compared to XQuery search application, all functionality of XQuery search application is present in I:ZI Repository application. Possibilities of using more general search query was added into I:ZI Repository application as well as fuzzy approaches for searching and possibility of clustering search results. Enhanced logging of application activities aimed at logging incoming search queries and outgoing search results is a part of implementation. Results of application testing are included as well.
Problems with seraching information on the internet
Beneš, Jan ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
This thesis is about problems concerning searching information on the internet with which ordinary users can come together. The goal is to explain to readers different parts of searching like history, other choices of searching, making queries using operators or the problems with searching itself especially from the view of ordinary user. The aim is also to find out how in fact ordinary user searches and to determine the most common problems that he faces. First part describes basic concepts and historical facts concerning searching on the internet itself. Following chapter contains description of chosen search engines, their ser-vices and help for improving searching skills of the users. Furthermore the thesis includes description of different possibilities of searching like searching in maps, pictures, books and videos. Following chapters deal with usable operators and problems with the searching itself from the view of ordinary user. After that follows an evaluation of the questionnaire survey thanks to which it was possible to compare described problems with real ones and to propose recommendations from this survey in the conclusion.
Problems of searching on the Internet
Tajtl, Martin ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
This work is focusing on searching on the Internet. In particular, different searching tools and user access to them. Particular attention is paid to full text search engines, which are currently most widely used instrument. The work puts mind of the features and specifics of them, and the possibility of their use by users. There are analyzed possible strategies of searching, not only through the full text search engines. The main factors influenced the choice of searching instrument are described as well as the trends of Internet searching. A substantial part of this work is to evaluate the survey conducted for this work. There are analyzed dependencies between individual responses and their possible causes. The strengths and weaknesses of instruments and methods for searching on the Internet are described from the user perspective.
