The differences in meeting affiliation needs of clients at gerontology-psychiatric wards in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands
KOTRČOVÁ, Ivana
The number of seniors suffering from a mental disorder, which have to be placed in an institutional facility due to their declining health and mental condition, has been increasing. Both family and the staff in such facilities should realise that strengthening the feeling of fellowship and belonging to a certain group is an integral part of holistic care for individuals who are ceasing to take bearings in themselves as well as their surroundings. This B.A. dissertation deals with the issue of meeting the needs of love and belonging of seniors suffering from a mental disorder placed in a nursing-type institutional facility. The research results can help nurses and students understand the significance of the needs of love and belonging and make them do activities resulting in meeting these needs.
Care for the oral cavity in a hospitalized patient
CINCIALOVÁ, Kateřina
The term oral hygiene includes a set of measures to prevent the origination of parodont and hard tissues and their progression. These ailments belong to the most common and frequent ones despite the fact they may be prevented by appropriate care and by the proper choice of oral hygiene aids. The most frequent problems are dental decay, dental plaque, gum disease. For each of us, good oral hygiene practicing daily is essential for preventing troubles mentioned above. During hospitalization patients often alter their habits and modes because of the disease and the stay out of home. In patients who are not self-administering and patients with limited capabilities it is the nurse who is in charge of providing the oral hygiene. Each nurse´s priority should be to meet all the patient´s needs and the proper oral hygiene is one the basic ones. I set four aims in my thesis. The first was to find out patients´view of the oral hygiene level at hospitalization. The second aim was to describe the standards of oral hygiene the particular ward offers the patients. The third aim was to compare opinions of self-administering and non self-administering patients. The fourth aim was to compare the role of a nurse in providing oral hygiene for self-administering and non self-administerin patients. The results of my research confirm the first hypothesis {--} hospitalization brings about changes in oral hygiene. Also the second hypothesis proved to be right {--} during hospitalization oral hygiene worsens in patients because they do not have enough possibilities to carry out all the procedures they are used to. The third hypothesis was confirmed, too. Nurses are familiar with oral hygiene aids and know how to use them. The fourth hypothesis that nurses do not ask patients to tell them what their oral hygiene habits are was true. I conducted the research by the questionnaire method and the method of a stuctured interview. The research samples were nurses and patients in following units - neurological, internal, surgical and orthopaedic - in the České Budějovice hospital, Inc. and in the Tábor hospital. Inc. The results of this research could be used as a feedback for hospital management to help improve patients´oral hygiene. It is necessary to take some measures in this respect. Nurses should be more active in getting information about patients´ oral hygiene aids and their hygienic habits. They should ensure the highest patients´comfort possible. Then their efforts will be rewarding.
The Attitude of nurses to introduction of nursing process into the practice
KOTKOVÁ, Michaela
Abstract The attitude of nurses to implementing new nursing process methods into practice The contemporary modern health care philosophy stemming from the recommendations of the WHO ( World Health Organization), the ICN ( International Council of Nurses) and the EU (European Union) aims to specify the roles of a nurse and show the direction for a quality education of the medical staff and an individualized nursing care focused on patients´ needs. The nursing process has been changing constantly and it is necessary to introduce new methods into practice. The nursing process is a series of mutually connected activities done for the benefit of the patients and in collaboration with them if it is possible. The results of individual steps are recorded in the patient´s medical history which is substantial for this methodology. Nowadays, in majority of health care facilities in the Czech Republic the nursing process is an integral part of their care. The objective of this thesis was to find out nurses´ approach to the method and also whether they have enough knowledge to implement the method into practice. The results of the quantitative research by the questionnaire method I have conducted show that nurses´ attitudes to the modern nursing method have been changing favourably. They do not perceive the method to be annoying but they see it as a method that can help them better cope with their duties. I set several hypotheses. The hypothesis IV - nurses agree that the method enables to discover the patient´s real troubles better {--} was confirmed. The hypothesis V {--} nurses agree that the method enables to discover the patient´s potential troubles better {--} was also confirmed. On the other hand nurses still insist that the new nursing process brings about more paperwork {--} the hypothesis II proved to be correct. Nurses working in standard units in the hospital in Frýdek-Místek consider the new method more encumbering due to more paper handling. According to the data obtained by using the questionnaire method, nurses have enough theoretical knowledge on the nursing process. Only two questions asking about phases of the method were given false answers. Thus it is possible to conclude that nurses are well informed about the principles of the nursing process. Thereby the hypothesis VI was rejected - it supposed that nurses in standard units in the hospital in Frýdek -Místek did not have enough information on the new nursing process. The results of the research show that nurses agree with implementation of the methods into the nursing process. 57% nurses agree that the new nursing process will bring about a better care for patients, 54% nurses agree with implementation of the nursing process into practice. The hypothesis I - nurses working in the hospital in Frýdek Místek agree with implementation of the new nursing process methods into practice - proved to be correct. Also the hypothesis III - nurses are sure that new methods implementation will make for a better nursing care - was correct. A nurse is the key-person in the nursing process. To fulfill her crucial role it is necessary for her to be concerned with the new nursing process methods.
The family as a partner in the nursing process
GREGOROVÁ, Jana
Cooperation between a client?s family members and the medical staff in a nursing process is very important. It is beneficial in particular for the cilent since his/her family (especially in mental terms) and are able to put themselves in the cilent?s role. The family should support the hospitalized family member and show active participation in the nursing process, which should also be made possible by the medical staff. While providing nursing care, the medical staff pays their attention not only to the ill client but also to his/her family. Within the scope of the cooperation with the family they provide support and information. They have to ensure that not only the patient but also all his/her family members understand the disease, the treatment process and the consequences arising from the aforesaid for the family?s function. They also assess whether after ending the hospitalization the family is able to provide the aftercare at home or whether it is necessary to find another option of care after the patient?s discharge. The objective of the thesis was to ascertain whether the family participates in nursing of the hospitalized client. The objective of the thesis has been fulfilled.
Cooperation between nurse and client´s relations hospitalizationed in house department
JÍLKOVÁ, Veronika
Medical workers, patients and family members are three groups, which often meet in demanding and critical situations, which they tend to experience in different ways. That is why the inforamtion leak may occur and also the basic conditions are not met (and this applies not only to clients, but also to specialists). Nurses should be opened to communication with family members and regularly offer them the exchange of informations. If the family comes with new ideas, we should be able to find a way to transform them into our profession. We should be able to counsel the family on where to get help or additional informations, or coordinate them. The cooperation between medical workers and family members creates the sanctuary of peace, where the patient and his family feel much better then they used to in the times, when profesionals used to be too much authoritative The subject of my bachelors work is the cooperation between nurses, family members and clients hospitalizated on the ward of internal medicine. The aim is to find out, how nurses percieve the family members of the clients hospitalized on the ward of internal medicine.find out which problems represent the greatest struggle for nurses, who have to deal with family memebers of hospitalized client. find out, whether the family members are satisfied with nursing staff on the ward of internal medicine. The vital informations were collected using the method of answering sheets, which were filled in by the nurses working on the ward of internal medicine and by the relatives of hospitalized clients on the ward of internal medicine of the České Budějovice Hospital. Hypothesis No. 1: `` The Hypothesis that the nurses in the internal department perceive the presence of the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members positively{\crqq} was confirmed. Hypothesis No. 2: `` The Hypothesis that the nurses are lacking the understanding of given information in the communication with the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members{\crqq} was not confirmed. Hypothesis No. 3: `` The Hypothesis that the hospitalized patients{\crq} family members are satisfied with cooperation with the attending personnel in the internal department{\crqq} was confirmed. I hope, that the findings made by me, will help widen the space for cooperation between nurses and family members of our patients, help realize better exchange of informations between families and nurses, which will lead to better treatment for our patiens.
Cooperation parent, nurse, child in nursing process
PAPOUŠKOVÁ, Kateřina

The factors influencing the experience of the illness by the children as well as the aspects in connection with the hospitalization of the parents and their children are described. Furthermore, specificities of the nursing process at the children´s ward and the possibilities of the cooperation between nurses and parents in different areas of the childcare are discussed. Moreover, this work determines the quality of the cooperation between nurses and parents being hospitalized together with their ill children in a hospital. In addition, it discovers the drawbacks of this cooperation and compares the involvement of the parents into the nursing process from the nurses´ point of view and from the parents´ point of view.
COMMUNICATION AS THE PART OF NURSING CARE
FIALOVÁ, Hana
My final project was divided into two parts- theoretical and practical one. In the theoretical part I focused on the definition of communication itself as well as the communication in terms of nursing care. In the practical part I am dealing with the results of the socilogical research based on the questionnaire. I interviewed the nurses in the Rest centre in České Budějovice and Žďár nad Sázavou. I also worked with a great deal of interviews with the clients in these two institutions.
The process of education of patients as a part of a nursing process
ŠEFČÍKOVÁ, Michaela
Education is an integral part of the nursing process. It is a proposeful activity, systematic training, which leads to gain knowledge and skills by means of a special process of learning. The aim of this work was to find out, whether nurses provide patients with education within the nursing process and whether patients feel that this education is sufficient enough to keep an optimal level of their health. All hypotheses I have set were confirmed. Apparently, from the results of the survey, health-educational activity, which is in plenary powers of nurses, is done by nurses themselves for the most part, but in some cases also the doctor took part in this activity. Although most of the asked expressed satisfaction with the information provided, there were still clients who were not satisfied with the number of information both theoretical and practical. In most cases, clients said that the instructions, which had been given to them by the nurse within the educational activity, were very significant for improving their health. Cooperation between a nurse and a client is based on a good communication between both parts. The result of this understanding is a situation when a client obeys the instructions given. From results it is obvious that all clients tried hard to keep professional recommendation provided by the nurse and reach the goal this way.Nowadays, the nurse, who is thanks to her learning within the area of education highly professional, puts an emphasis on mutual cooperation not only with the client but also with his family. The nurse respects client´s individual needs and tries to make him participace actively in his health care.
The influence of nursing documentation audit on nursing care quality
MACHÁČKOVÁ, Eva
Abstrakt The keeping of nursing documentation is an inseparable part of the work of a nurse. It is an instrument of professional practice, which is intended to support the process of care. The quality of the keeping of the nursing documentation is a reflection of the level of professional practice. The nursing documentation is an invaluable manner of supporting communication within the framework of the health care team and between the health workers and their patients/clients. Well kept nursing documentation is thus the product of good teamwork and at the same time an important instrument for increasing the quality of care. An audit is one of the parts of the management process and its final aim is to incease the quality of the provided care. An audit can play an important role during the delivery of the quality of the provided care and this is also true for the process of the keeping of the nursing documentation. During an audit of the kept documentation areas are identified where it is intended to ensure the improvement and education of the staff. The theoretical part the work also includes chapters related to the given problems that is the nursing aim, the nursing process, the nursing documentation, the quality of nursing care and the nursing audit. In the research part I deal with the influence of the audit of the nursing documentation on the quality of the provided nursing care. The aim of my research is to ascertain the influence of the standard of the nursing documentation on the quality of nursing care and to ascertain whether the results of the audit of the nursing documentation help the nurses in the wards to improve the quality of the provided nursing care. During the research my first hypothesis that the quality of the nursing care is increased by the carrying out of a standard ``Unified keeping of nursing documentation`` was confirmed and 26 of the questionned nurses (57%) agreed with it. The second hypothesis, that the quality of the nursing care is increased by the introduction of an audit of the nursing documentation into practice, was not confirmed. Only 18 of the interviewed nurses (39%) think that the introduced audit of the nursing documentation into practice is an increase in the quality of the nursing care. In order to obtain the required data to accomplish the aims and answer the hypothesis of quantitative research I used a method of auditing and an enquiry method using questionnaires. The research sample made up 50 (100%) of the examination documentation from five selected wards of Pelhřimov Hospital. The body of research in the case of the questionnaires was made by the nurses, working in the wards, where the audit of the nursing documentation was carried out. In total 46 of the nurses (100%) from all the assigned clinics took part in the survey. The results of the research were placed at the disposal of the administration of Pelhřimov Hospital, as a pilot study for the creation of their own complex standard and audit of the nursing documentation.
Satisfaction of women in childbed with nursing care on obstetric auditorium
MAŠKOVÁ, Jitka
The nursing care has in the care for health unreplaceable position. The attribute of the present nursing are individualized care and an independent working of the obstetricians centred on the prevention and on the support of the patients health. The satisfying and the dissatisfying of the patients needs reverberates in their consciousness as subjectively felt content or discontent with the care. The effort of the obstetricians has been the focus on the client. The new philosophy of the health services is to meet patients wishes and achieve therethrough their contentment. The patient{\crq}s satisfaction with the nursing care is an important information which predicate about the functioning of the individual departments in the health care institutions. {\clqq} The patient{\crq}s notifications is an valuable advice as well as an important motivating step to the improvement of the care quality.{\crqq} The nursing sees the patient with all the negative as well the positive sides and therethrough the patient{\crq}s contentment is understood as the priority objective wich cannot be marginalized. The satisfied patients have more confidence in the physicians in the nurses. They also much better cooperate during the labour. The objective of this thesis has been to state if the patients are satisfied with the nursing care on the labour ward. The supposal saying that ``The patients are satisfied with the nursing care on the labour{\crqq} ward has been stated. The supposal should be confirmed or disproved on the basis of the executed research. Hereat has been chosen the quantitative research in the questionnaire form. The question forms have been given to the mothers after the physiological labour on the confinement department in the hospital in České Budějovice, Tábor and Jindřichův Hradec. For research it has been used the set of 145 properly filed questionnaire forms. The research has proved that from the total number of questioned mothers 145 (100 %) the number of 142 mothers (97,9 %) were satisfied ewith the nursing care on the labour ward. The supposal has been confirmed by the research, the patients are satisfied with nursing care on the labour ward. The thesis shall be used within the tuition in the University of South Bohemia, published in the specialized publications and on the internet. An absolute majority of the patients has been satisfied with the nursing care on the labour ward. It is very pleasant conclusion of this thesis. In formed times to the patient has been often dictated what should or should not be done and therethrough the possible effect on the labour has been limited. Present is many respects different. It is more disposed for the changes in the nursing and puglic health in general. There is bigger space for the cooperation between the obstretricians group and the patient. It creates the safe enviroment in which both the patients and the nursing taff feel considerably better.
