Parents Awareness and Cooperation in Preventing Speech Problems

The Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of parents awareness and their cooperation with nursery school in the process of preventing speech disorders. It identifies parents evaluation of the nursery school, their interest in obtaining information and their willingness to cooperate in speech care. It also covers the process of speech development and speech and communication disorder prevention. The thesis also suggests solutions of these issues based on a conducted questionnaire survey.

Status of phonetic-phonological levels of children at enrolls at primary school

The bachelor thesis is focused on the state of the phonetic-phonological level at the time of children?s entry into the primary school. The individual chapters of this work deal with the development of speech, language levels, phonemic hearing, dyslalia. The next section deals with the investigation of the state of pronunciation and phonemic hearing using the guided interview of pre-school aged children in ordinary classes or in speech therapy classes in the kindergartens.

Communication with the Children with Down Syndrome Using Sign Language

Signing language as a form of alternative and augmentative communication is firstly used for communication of deaf people who are not enough developed by verbal component of speech or for those where there is no verbal komponent of speech at all. In simplified form of sign language it also helps children with Down syndrome to express themselves. For this target group the signing is supporting method which helps to developt the speech which is delayed because of the mental disability. In communication with children with Down syndrome is verbal speech accompanied by signs which help child to understand the meaning and give him the opportunity to express oneself. The aim of the thesis was a comparasion by studying Czech and foreign professional publications by two different views on the use of sign language in communication with children with Down syndrome and this views illustrate by case studies. The thesis includes definition and characteristics of Down syndrome, speech development of children with this diagnosis, characteristics alternative and augmentative communication and its individual systems and also benefits and potential risks of signing. The next section of thesis illustrate the knowledge from previous chapters by case studies. There were selected two women as mothers of children with Down syndrome. They were chosen on the different experience with signing. It was appeared while signing there is necessary to support mother by whole family and to involve the family into the process of signing. Next there appears that knowledge from professional literature can?t be apllied to whole target group, i.e. children with Down syndrome. The thesis also shows how few professional publications apply the potentional risks of signing. The thesis can be used as an information for those parents who decide to communicate with their child by using methods of signing.

Level of verbal communication in children in pre-Kindergarten class

The thesis deals with the issue of development of communication skills in children in pre- kindergarten class. Individual chapters deal with communication, speech and the influence and the influence of the family, media and kindergarten on the development of communication skilles in these children. In the next section, then use the questionnaire method identifies, how to evaluace the kindergartener level of verbal expression in children in the preschool class.

The practical research focuses on the fulfilment of pre-school children{\crq}s needs under different psychosocial and organisational conditions within the environment of Czech and English pre-schools.

Development of Communication Competencies by means of Games

The aim of this work is to map application of games suited for development in communications skills in group of kids, before school age.Theoretical part concentrate on the definicios of the terms related with the topic. Terms such as evolution of language, communication, games for kids before school age, communications skills and activiteis at nursery. Applied part of this work includes description of social circle with its own rules and research on difficulties when communications skills appliedat nurseries. Research has been done by questionnaire. In attachment list of commmunications games and also description of nursery class at sacral nursery. Also video record of the observation on progres of the communications skills obtained at the class within the social circle. This observation was done in October 2007, December and February 2008 is completing this work.
