The Development of the Fundamental Body Measurements of Infants 0-6 old.
ANDRLOVÁ, Tereza
This diploma thesis is devoted to the development of body measurements of children 0 to 6 months old being exclusively breastfed until the age of four months and then breastfed with appropriate complementary food. The anthropometrical parameters were the body length, the body weight and the head circumference. The results are shown separately for girls and boys in tables and graphs. The data were compared to the previous surveys of the Czech children. Student's t-test and Z- score were used for comparison. Selected somatic and other characteristics obtained by a questionnaire were taken into the study. The Life Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to evaluate the welfare of primiparas. The breastfed children do not reach lower average values of body length and weight than children of the reference survey CAV, 2001 (Vignerová et al., 2005) and Bláha a kol., 2001 (Bláha et al., 2010) in general. Body lenght, body weight and head circumference of boys and girls until the age of one month positively correlates with the gestation age of an infant. Life satisfaction of primiparas is mostly influenced by financial situation, marriage, partnership and sexuality. Life satisfaction of primiparas from our survey correlates statistically significantly with their health and satisfaction with marriage and partnership. The collected somatic data of infants could be used as a part of the standards for contemporary population of breastfed infants.

Can we buy happiness? Evidence from Slovak Republic
Šramko, Filip ; Chytilová, Helena (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis tries to verify the impact of income and income of reference group on subjectively experienced happiness. The thesis is following the findings of "tunnel" effect in the countries of former Eastern Bloc (Senik, 2008). By OLS estimation of sample from fourth wave of European Values Study I found the presence of weak positive effect of income on happiness. However we cannot conclude causal relationship from our findings. Effect of reference group income is not consistent across estimated models, but I found some possible suggestions of "tunnel" effect. I also found lower effect of absolute income for employed than for the remaining population in the sample. Estimations were also executed with life satisfaction variable confirming the propriety of distinguishing between happiness and life satisfaction concepts.
Life (dis)satisfaction and the decision to migrate: evidence from Central and Eastern Europe
Otrachshenko, V. ; Popova, Olga
This paper provides the first evidence regarding the impact of life satisfaction on the individual intention to migrate. The impact of individual characteristics and country macroeconomic variables on the decision to migrate is analyzed in one framework. Differently from other studies, we allow for life satisfaction to serve as a mediator between macroeconomic variables and the intention to migrate. Using the Eurobarometer Survey for 27 Central Eastern (CEE) and Western European (non-CEE) countries, we test the predictions of our theoretical model and …find that dissatisfi…ed with life, people have a higher intention to migrate. The macroeconomic conditions have an effect on the intention to migrate indirectly through life satisfaction. At all levels of life satisfaction, unemployed, middle-aged individuals with a low or average income from urban areas at all levels of education are found to have higher intentions to migrate from CEE countries than from non-CEE countries.

The impact of education on happiness in the Czech Republic
Krepčíková, Klára ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Brožová, Dagmar (referee)
This paper examines the relationship between education and happiness in Czech Republic using data from European Social Survey. By applying descriptive statistics and estimating the happiness equation, it can be found that education has both direct and indirect impact (through higher income and higher probability of getting an employment) on men's happiness. The influence was not found if we consider women. Men with higher upper secondary education are found to be less happy than men with lower secondary education or tertiary education. It can be thus concluded that these men might not be getting returns from their investment to education. Furthermore, parent's education is found to have negative impact in children's happiness. While the women's happiness is lower when the father is more educated, the men's happiness is negatively affected by mother's education. It seems that women consider their fathers and men their mothers to be a person of reference.
The Development of the Basic Body Measurements of Infants 6-12 months old.
BÖHMOVÁ, Kateřina
The aim of this diploma is to study the development of basic body measurements of infants 6 to 12 months old being exclusively breastfed up to 4 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to one year of age or beyond. The monitored physical parameters were the body length, weight, and head circumference. The anthropometric data were collected according to a standardized (Martin-Saller?s) method or its modification. For statistical comparison sorting of the age categories according to the WHO recommendation was made. Our data were compared (t-test, Z-score) with the results of the previous surveys of Czech children. Comparison of results of our study and previous anthropological survey showed lower mean values of weight-height ratio in our file. The questionnaire of mothers? somatic and further characteristics was evaluated. The part of this study involves also the evaluation of Life Satisfaction Questionnaire of primiparous mothers. It has been found that general life content of primiparous mothers is influenced by positive assessment of financial situation particularly. Researched somatic data about children are a part of the national anthropological survey of the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) in Prague. The collected data sets can serve as a tool to creating standards for the current population of breastfed children.
Burnout Syndrome Threat in the Unemployed
HEGER, Helena
The topic of the bachelor thesis is a burnout syndrome threat in the unemployed. ?Work? has a great importance for the life of man; a paid job is, in the first place, a guarantee of a certain social and economic status. Having lost a job, an individual finds himself in a very unpleasant situation that can be characterized by a change in standard of living, loss of social dignity or prestige, and social isolation. Unemployment is therefore accompanied with a number of negative phenomena, influencing life in its full range and capacity. Lack of workload, destruction of the set time patterns of the day, mental pressure, as well as negative attitude towards the phenomenon itself, can be characterized as chronical stress with a negative influence on both mental and physical health. The bachelor thesis describes the problem of uneployment and burnout syndrome theoretically. As a part of the problem analysis, a sociological probing has been carried out, with the aim to access the level of satisfaction and burnout syndrome risks within a group of unemployed people.

The subjective perception of quality of life by chronically ill patients
MOZOROVÁ, Jitka
This bachelor work focuses on the quality of life of chronically ill patients from the point of view of their subjectively perceived life satisfaction and meaningfulness of life. The theoretical part is devoted to mapping out the term quality of life. It investigates the development of the term, the differences in the outlook on the term by various science disciplines and fields, the difficulties of scientific definition of the term and the ways of evaluation and measuring. Individual chapters are devoted to the quality of life in the health care system, to the psychological outlook on the quality of life and to the problems of quality of life and meaning of life. The aim of the work was to establish the extent of satisfaction with life and some of its parts of chronically ill patients and to compare the results with a sample of healthy population. The parts of life in question were defined in advance and they were: mood, work, family relationships, free time, social life, relationship with a partner. The research was carried out using a quantitative method of an anonymous questionnaire. The sample consisted of 30 patients of the Cooperative Rehabilitation Ambulance of MUDr. Veselý in Třebíč. This sample was compared with a sample of 30 randomly selected representatives of healthy population. The research results show that the extent of life satisfaction of chronically ill patients is not significantly lower than that of healthy population. State of health is therefore not the most important factor determining the quality of life. Satisfaction with relationships in the family and with relationship with one{\crq}s partner, positive self-appraisal and feelings of meaningfulness of life play a much more important role at subjective evaluation of quality of life. It is important to take into account a whole set of indicators when measuring the quality of life. It is important to investigate especially subjective factors which indicate how people themselves evaluate their lives.
