Modification of dry stuff with lime sludge
Švec, Jiří ; Kovářová, Alena (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
In modern point of view of waste management is desirable to effectively process the grates possible amount of wastes. Sediments from cleaning of mined lime stones contains a lot of clay components, but there is also indispensable share of soft calcite. Especially this can be use in following processing. After firing, where is necessary to set suitable temperature, arises a mixture of soft calcinated lime and remaining dehydrated mineral components. This calcinated mixture could partially replace used binders in dry stuffs.
Consolidation testing of porous limestone using lime nanomaterials: optimization, assessment of stone mechanical and structural characteristics
Macounová, Dana ; Bayer, K. ; Ghaffari, E. ; Navrátilová, Michaela ; Slížková, Zuzana ; Weber, J.
In consequence of an array of degradation mechanisms there is a change of stone characteristics used in historic objects. One of the negative changes is deterioration of mechanical properties, which may often lead to losses of original substance and gradual disintegration of works of art or handcraft made of stone. To prolong the lifespan of such damaged cultural-heritage objects a process called consolidation is often carried out within the framework of conservation treatment. During the process of conservation treatment the damaged stone is impregnated with a consolidating material, which is to provide the stone with a new binder capable of renewing its cohesion to a certain extent. Currently, a wide range of organic and inorganic consolidating agents of various characteristics is available, from synthetic polymers to silicic acid esters. Long-term experience shows that not only is the consolidating effect of the actual agent important, but also its lifespan and impact on the subsequent aging of the treated stone. Thus, in the past few years more emphasis has been laid on the compatibility or – to express it more precisely – the material similarity of the agents used in the process of conservation and restoration of works of art or handcraft.
Strengtheninig of whitish degraded porous limestone by suspension of nanoparticles of calcium hydroxide in alcohol
Slížková, Zuzana ; Frankeová, Dita
Limestone, which is damaged (degraded) in its surface layer, and having a suitable pore size, ie. that contain cracks or pores with a diameter greater than one micron, it is possible to consolidate by calcium hydroxide in the form of particles of a size of hundreds of nanometers. Suspension (also called dispersion, a colloidal sol) of nano-particles of calcium hydroxide in ethanol, may have different concentrations and can be applied to damaged limestone one or more times in various amounts, depending on its concentration and properties of the stone. The procedure specifies the limestone material tests carried out before the intervention and the possibility of minimizing whitish haze on the surface of the treated stone.

Cyanobacteria in the splash zone of the Veruda and Ugljan islands, Croatia
VONDRÁŠKOVÁ, Alžběta
Cyanobacterial communities of the splash zone of two Croatian islands, Veruda and Ugljan, were surveyed on 16 localities both in horizontal and vertical directions. In 336 samples 42 cyanobacterial species, 1 green alga, and 1 red alga were found. On both islands Hyella spp. and Gloeocapsopsis crepidinum dominated. Solentia spp., Kyrtuthrix dalmatica, and Mastigocoleus testarum were also found frequently. According to statistical analyses 3 horizontal parts of the splash zone were shown to host different cyanobacterial communities. In the horizontal direction there were no statistical differences among sampling points; however, for uncovering the whole cyanobacterial diversity more samples from various distances are necessary. The species diversity and distribution were not dependent on the orientation of the locality toward cardinal points.

Assessment of the efficiency of various consolidation agents based on the evaluation of changes of material properties of Kutna Hora limestone from Church of St. James in Kutna Hora
Slížková, Zuzana ; Hasníková, Hana
The report describes the procedure of assessment of efficiency of two consolidation agents used on limestone from Church of St. James in Kutná Hora. It includes photographic documentation and all the results with final evaluation and conclusion. Two non-destructive methods were used in-situ on the church – water absorption measurement by microtube and so called peeling test. The locations of the tests are mentioned in the report.
Aerophytic cyanobacteria from limestone quarry Malá Amerika
KOČVARA, Luboš
The presented work was aimed on discovery of diversity of aerophytic cyanobacterial vegetation of Malá Amerika limestone quarry located in Český kras Protected Landscape Area, Czech Republic. It was found and determinated 20 morphotypes of cyanobacteria. Moreover, putative effects of light, water availability and a distance from water level on species diversity have been studied. It has been shown that the limiting factor on this locality is humidity, not light.
Analysis of logistic system in extractive industry
ROTT, Martin
The main goal of my diploma work was global analysis of the logistic system in the mining industry especially processing limestone. The mining and processing limestone in Vapenka Certovy schody a.s. are devided to the several technological operations with logical sequences. Strict directions are provided for any technological operations. Final products are delivered in high quality to the customers thanks to these strict directions. The next part of my diploma work was to find optimal solution delivery quotas ground limestone kind D5 for ECK Generation s.r.o. I found the best possibility of delivery from between truck and railway. I recommended the group of 7 lowry kind RAJ drawn by 1 gas-power locomotive. It is the cheapest solution and very ecological too.
General review of the natural geological risks for underground constructions in the Prague Synform, with special attention to limestones and to planned high-speed railway tunnels between Praha and Beroun
Žák, Karel ; Bosák, Pavel ; Cílek, Václav ; Hladil, Jindřich ; Štorch, Petr ; Janečka, Jiří
There exist numerous natural geological risks for the planned construction of railway tunnels in the sediments of Prague Synform. These risks are related to only partial knowledge of the tectonic structure of the Synform, to frequent faulting of the rocks accompanied by zones of deep weatehring and karstification, and to the karst hydrogeology.
Rekultivace a revitalizace velkých vápencových lomů
Cílek, Václav
The paper deals with principles and experiences gathered during reclamation and revitalisation of large limestone quarries.
