I have focused on the capability of seniors in adjusting to seniors homes. The survey was done at the Senior Home in Ujezdec u Klatov, whose founder is the City of Klatovy. I worked as a social worker at this facility.
Integration of paraplegics in society

The theme of the submitted Baccalaureate Thesis is as follows, ``Integration of Paraplegics in Society{\crqq}. The theoretical part of the work maps the current state of the given subject from different points of view. It concentrates on rehabilitation as a whole and description of the individual factors for example: medical rehabilitation, social rehabilitation, pedagogical rehabilitation as well as rehabilitation at work. Further on, the role of ergo therapy and psychotherapy, not only in rehabilitation centers, is briefly analyzed. One of the chapters is devoted to the important process of incorporating paraplegics back into society, which means socialization and integration. The following chapters deal with analyzing actualities concerning psychology in the lives of people with physical handicaps and the importance of exercise and sport. In the text we shall also find reference to various employment possibilities of handicapped citizens including the use of computers in incorporating them back into work environment. The issue of social services is treated in the thesis as well. In order to evaluate the importance of long-term rehabilitation, questionnaires that had been filled out by paraplegics themselves, are analyzed in the practical part of the work.
Psychological Aspects of Studying Abroad

The topic of this thesis is study abroad. The theoretical part presents knowledge about the process of adaptation in a new country and its culture; then it deals with acculturative and coping strategies, culture shock and its determinants and also reverse culture shock, which takes place after arrival home form a foreign country. It also introduces the age group of participants on study abroad (21 {--} 26 years old) from the developmental psychology point of view. Then it describes the already known correlation relationships between personality characteristics and some aspects of long term stays abroad. Finally, it outlines a personality profile of the ideal person for a long term study abroad. The research part informs the reader about knowledge we have found out from 3 research questionnaires that were completed by students before, during and after the experience of study abroad, and also knowledge we have gained thanks to interviews with the students. The main research areas are the following: the personality profile, changes of chosen characteristics that have taken place due to the experience of the study abroad, motivation, expectations and their fulfillment, process of culture shock and reverse culture shock.
Intercultural Encounter of Studying Teenagers

The thesis is concerned with the intercultural encounter of studying teenagers, which represents one of the symbols of the current world. The first part attempts to show the character of current migration together with its causes and consequences. The second chapter informs about the attitude of majority populations towards immigrants. The term {\crqq}adaptation`` in relation to migrant and majority society is explained. Another point of interest which is dealt with is the communication process. The third part explains the problem of potential emotional reactions and migrant conflicts with the impacts on the perception of individuals. It focuses on prejudices of majority and minority groups. The fourth part of the thesis concentrates on the importance of foreign exchange studies for increase in educational and status potential of the students. At the end of the thesis some students provide reactions to foreign exchange studies and experience in knowing new cultures.
Possibilities and Limits of Substitute Family Care

The paper deals with the importance of substitute family care in the Czech Republic. Theoretical part characterizes possibilities of substitute family care, importance of family and its ambiance. Next, it describes risk and protective factors and substitute family, focuses on institutional treatment of children and possible problems of child{\crq}s socialization. Practical part contains casuistics and comparison of two chosen cases: case of successful and unsuccessful substitute family care. Both cases have good intention. They offer further view into problems of substitute family care. Its quality is not related only to those who decided to take abandoned child into their family but lies also in the child itself and not forgetting in abilities of workers securing substitute family care.
Senior's Adaptation to Staying Facilities

The theoretical part consists of five chapters, which are engaged first of all in problems affecting elderly people. The first part is completed with the issue of the demographic development of the current society and of age lengthening. Methods of senior care in the past are also mentioned in this work. The present circumstances are presented by kinds of stay facilities. This is completed with a discussion concerning the care in staying facilities. Furthermore, the issue of adaptation and maladaptation is analyzed in detail. Concrete feasible solutions of managing the adaptation of elderly people at accommodation facilities are described, which is considered to be the most important part of this work. The author keeps to the hypotheses that previous knowledge of the environment and satisfied living at old people´s homes are connected with a successful adaptation to these facilities. Also free choice as well as self-determination favours the adaptation.
Adaptative Process of the Clients of the Home for Seniors Hvízdal in České Budějovice

The work maps the adaptative process of the clients of the Home for Seniors Hvízdal in České Budějovice. Arrival and adaptation of a senior in an institution present one of the most dangerous life events. Then the systematic work with a client is becoming a very important factor of the quality of life of seniors living in an institution. The rhythm of life in the institution should reflect the individual rhythm of every person in her/his home environment and in her/his previous life. At present, the adaptative process in one of the basic indicators of quality of life in an institution. Concidering the change of act and the newly set up conditions, this appears even to future. The basic indicator of the quality of life in an institution will be the competence of communication with the family of a client, social workers and doctors. The cooperation of these sections will ensure trouble-free adaptation to a new way of life in elderly age. Institutions which will manage this difficult task will be even in future, concidering the quality of service, found adequate.
Aspects of adaptation syndrome in patient ad retirement home

This thesis concentrates on the issues of both negative manifestation of adaptation syndrome and individual nursing care planning in elderly patients during their first days after the admission to the rest home.The theoretical part is engaged in the problems of process of adaptation and adaptation syndrome itself. The results of the research projectare presented in the practical part of the thesis.In the realization of this research there has been used such techniques and methods and as direct observation, analysis of the residents documentetion, the review of causation initiating into the issue of adaptation of a women client suffering the severe form of dementia.

Use of industrial buildings for art gallery and exhibition

The aim of this work is to analyze and evaluate procedures leading to the regeneration of industrial heritage and to compare some examples of conversions to gallery and exhibition spaces. The comparison of this adaptations is given by examples from several European countries and Czech Republic with sufficiently broad basis of informations. Work explains the terminology used in the field of the industrial architecture and the regeneration of brownfields. The work briefly asseses the physical state and extent of industrial heritage in the Czech Republic, its preservation and protection. For each state (UK, Spain, Fance and Czech) will be briefly described the basic international and national legal framework of the monuments (industrial heritage) care.
