Current trends of urbanization of Mexico City as an example

The aim of this thesis is to identify current trends of urbanization of Mexico City as an example, which is one of the most urbanized cities in the world. This paper examines the impacts of urbanization in terms of increasing social and health problems of people in Mexican capital. The theoretical part describes main concepts, current trends of urbanization in developing and developed countries, and its positive and negative impacts. The practical part is focused on a very characteristic of urbanization in Mexico City, on negative impacts which arise, and on measures that the city uses in order to reduce them. The methods that has been used on this topic were literature review, data analysis, comparison and observation. To process the data, official statistics were also used.
The issue of slums and its possible solutions (the example of Kenya)

This thesis is focused on the elimination of slums in Kenya. It is currently facing a huge challenge - improving the quality of life of slum dwellers. Despite the large amount of efforts developed to promote the slums in Kenya, the situation remains problematic and local slums has already grown to such proportions that it was not easy efficient and sustainable. Thesis is divided into three subsequent chapters. The first chapter focuses on the economic, political and social situation in Kenya. In the second chapter I explain term slum, it's history, the life of slum dwellers and I also think about causes of their origin and subsequent dynamic urban sprawl. The third chapter is focused on the actual Kenyan slums and projects dedicated to tackle the challenges of their elimination. My goal is to identify the causes that lead to the extension of slums. Further I want to analyze how the issue of slums in Kenya is solved and whether these projects are effective and sustainable.
Suburbanization of rural space (case study of the village Dolní Třebonín)

This diploma work consists of two parts. The theoretic part literary summary deals with the question of suburbanization and the practical part, in which the survey of suburbanization in model area Dolní Třebonín was conducted. In the theoretical part, I firstly mention the types of suburbanization, where we can distinguish residential and commercial suburbanization. Secondly I talk about phases of urbanization process. The previously mentioned suburbanization is a second phases. Then I focus on consequences of suburbanization, which are mostly negative. Due to the fact that process of suburbanization can be regulated I also describe some influential people and institutions that can reduce the negative effects. For a better imagination of developing suburbanization in Czech Republic I also describe the actual situation of this process. In the last chapter of literary summary I point at the problems of migration, which is closely connected with the process of suburbanization. Practical part contains the description of model area and also the evaluation of results taken out of the questionnaire survey. The newly checked results were used to indicate the impacts of suburbanization in the researched area, which was the main aim of my diploma work.
Comparison of the quality of life in rural and urban space

The main objective of this study was to describe and to compare of some aspects of quality of life in the countryside and in the town on the example of village Sousedovice and of town Strakonice. In the theoretical work are summarized the findings from the literature concerning of the issue. The actual work was focused on surveys in selected locations.
Industrial investments and their impact on the spatial structure and development of a city (Kolín key study)

This M. A. thesis evaluates the impact of big investments on the spatial structure and the development of Kolín. It includes the analysis of the investment environment development in the Czech republic after 1989, the problematics of industrial zones, foreign direct investments, urbanization and spatial structure of a city. On the basis of literature and data studies the author applies all the gained theoretical pieces of knowledge on the city of Kolín. The main aim is to define the most important processes (especially those connected with industrial production) that lead to significant changes and to the growth of the city.
Socioeconomic and environmental aspects of life in the town of Tabor

This thesis deals with the socio-economic and environmental aspects of urban space in general and in Tabor separately. An important task is to show the process of urbanization and suburbanization, which is one of the characteristic features of today. For documentation and clarification of these aspects I have chosen the method of photographs and surveys with Citizen of the cities. These two methods represent an objective and subjective assessment of quality of life in Tabor cities.
Changes in land cover/land use in relation to a functional definition of urban and suburban area of Pelhřimov

Bachelor thesis deals with changes in land cover and land use in relation to the functional definition of urban and suburban area of Pelhřimov. Suburban area of Pelhřimov is defined by 17 cadastral areas of municipalities which lie in Pelhřimov surrounding. These municipalites were selected on the basis of approaching time and distance from Pelhřimov. Urban area of Pelhřimov was defined on the basis of the maps processing of the 90s 20th century and a field survey in 2012. This thesis describes changes in land cover and land use in the area, which took place from the 90s 20th century until 2012. One part of the thesis are map outputs that depict the surveyed area in the given time. The thesis has also a theoretical part which deals with the concepts of urbanization, suburbanization, land use, land cover, landscape and which describes the area of Pelhřimov. The results of the survey are summarized at the end of the thesis in the given territory.
Carnivores in urban environment: distribution, habitat preferences and selected aspects of urban ecology

This study provides an insight into carnivores´ responses to urban conditions. The main goal of this study is to examine changes of population densities and home range sizes of eight mesocarnivore species along the gradient from natural to urbanized habitats by gathering and assessing available data.

The thesis deals with the issue of urbanization in connection with the influence on leisure of children and youth. The theoretical part is focused on the typification of rural and urban settlements; the process of urbanization itself in the context of the township of Ledenice; the issue of lifestyle and leisure as one of the most important parts of lifestyle (in connection with spending of it in a city and in the countryside). The practical part is dedicated to finding differences among ways of spending leisure of children and youth (incl. an offer of leisure activities) caused by the process of urbanization.
