The Values of the Cultural Landscape around the Lomec sanctuary

This dissertation deals with breakdown of landscape in proximity of pilgrimage site Lomec in South Bohemia. This location was chosen on bases of personal visit and obtainment of basic knowledge about the general area. While determining the part of the area for this work, all key values and elements, that are characteristic for local landscape, were taken into account. The dissertation is made of two parts. The first part is general (theoretical) and the second part is specific (analytic). The general part deals with given issue and introduces introduction to the topic. The specific part contains the own work of the author, which besides other things embodies the main contribution of this work (mainly some of its parts, in catalogue). Aim and outcome of the work is to create analysis (in a form of catalogue) of the area, first mentioned in second paragraph of the abstract. For this purpose data obtained during own terrain survey is used. Findings from all available literar sources, pertaining to the current issue, are being used.
Landscape development in Jachymov

This thesis deals with monitoring developments montane landscapes in the Jáchymov in the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). In the thesis the attention is given to the history of the min-ing town Jáchymov, founded in the 16th century, which is closely linked to the expansion of mining in the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). In the thesis I focuse on the events that have marked most of this cultural landscape, in the period from the mid-20th century in connection with the resettlement of the German population followed up with exploitation of uranium ores. In the thesis I examine all signifiant factors that influenced and shaped this distinctive cultural landscape and analyzes the data of land use from the database LUCC. For more pre-cise and illustrative assessment of changes in the landscape were used not only written docu-ments with historical descriptions, but also a graphical documents. Comparing old photo-graphs primarily from the first half of the 20th century with present situation attention is given to land cover and terrain ganges and changes in built-up area. The thesis comparing the Stable Cadastre and aerial photography with current maps through ArcGIS. There are evaluated local changes related to with the built-up area and the changing terrain. Furthermore, through the manual vectorization, it is been noted land cover in maps of Stable Cadastre and the latest orthophoto. Land cover has been simplified to the three most significant categories: forest area, non-forest area and built-up area. The result is the separate map of the cadastral territory Jáchymov, where the most significant changes are projected, that the increase and decrease of forest and increase of built-up area. The goal of the thesis is to point out the extremes in the extent of anthropic pressure in this specific landscape. On the one hand, building work camps, massive changes in terrain and remaining tailings, on the other hand, abandoned land and settlement after resettled popula-tion, result of succession and disappearing landscapes microstructure.
Comparison of aproaches to cultral landscape protection in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands

According to expert discussions, the state of protection of the cultural landscape in the Czech Republic can not be considered as an ideal. Tools applied in other European countries can serve as inspiration for the cultural landscape protection. The main part of this thesis is dealing with the protection of the cultural landscape in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands. There is also the cultural landscape divided into several types, and also outlines the historical development of cultural landscapes in both countries. The main objective of this study is compare how the Czech Republic and the Netherlands are followed to protect the cultural landscape. The outcome of this study is the compare the approach and recommendations on how to improve the protection of the cultural landscape in the Czech Republic.

This diploma thesis deals with the transformation of Czech cultural landscape in Ostopovice municipality. Firstly, the cultural landscape is described in detail and there are identified the specifics of the selected area. Subsequently, there are compared and evaluated changes in the landscape in the last 60 years. Used methods, such a scanning, questionnaires and SWOT analysis are described in the methodological section. There is also Ostopovice community and landscape-ecological context characterized in detail within the selected time period. There have been identified conclusive landscape changes over the time comparing historical maps to the present ones. Subsequently, the perception of these changes was detected by the population of Ostopovice through a questionnaire survey and interviews. The results of SWOT analysis reflect mainly the opportunities of the landscape in selected area. All three hypotheses were confirmed by using selected methods and subsequent evaluation. The results confirm the significant changes in the cultural landscape of the Ostopovice village.
The Path Home

The central idea of this project named “My way home” (the project’s name was inspired by Karel Václav Rais’s poem of the same name) is the work with the memory of a landscape. The project concerns a 700-metre-long area which is part of what used to be a road near Stráž nad Nežárkou. First of all, I try to return the road its original purpose. Also, I try to find out its historic foundation. Finally, I try to return the road its integrity. The road used to go from the village of Dvorce to the now cancelled Gabler’s mill (house number 98) in Stráž nad Nežárkou. The Diploma also includes an observation of the changes of the landscape near the village. The Diploma itself consists of three phases: The road, apple trees, The object.
LANDSCAPE METAMORPOHOSIS

This thesis is a reflection on the site-specific project Landscape metamorphosis that took place in the area of Tiché údolí (Quiet Valley) in Roztoky, Czech Republic which is just north of Prague. The paper focuses on a description and analysis of this collaborative art work in the landscape.

The thesis deals with the issue of cultural landscape and composed landscapes in general. There is marginally solved also an issue of dealing with composed landscapes nowadays. The model territory is the village cadastre of Křinec near the Nymburk. The landscape was the subject of a detailed analysis of primary and secondary landscape structure. Historical landscape structure and layer composed landscapes were thoroughly discussed and on the basis of the available materials there were defined stages of their development. The findings were illustrated in cartography and drawing diagrams. The analysis part was the starting point for defining the values and problems of the model area. These were crucial for the design part, which output is the landscape study. The landscape study addresses three basic design layer, a layer composed landscape, an ecological stability of the area and working relationships.
