Psychoacoustical Measurement of Binaural Hearing Characteristics
Novotný, Ota ; Trzos, Michal (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with a binaural hearing issues (it means hearing by both of ears), a human hearing ability to locate position of a sound source at three-dimensional space and parameters that affect this ability. In the second part, it focuses on psychoacoustic experiment, its main features and errors that can occur and which affect a results credibility. Method of pair comparisons is described more closely here. The last part of this thesis describes a technical solution of experiment in Java environment. The application should have a graphical interface and should be able to register a new user and perform a psychoacoustical experiment. The process of experiment is following. The aplication selects a random position of defined virtual sound source on the defined range and it plays this sound into headphones on button click. The users task is to set the application controls, representing a virtual sound source position, that way, where the user hear the sound come from. On another button click the application plays the same sound, but this sound comes from application controls set position (set by user). User compares this pair of sounds and modifies the position of second sound source until these two positions are same. The application stores these results for later processing on another button click. Principles of generating testing sound sources (sine wave, narrowband noise and sound file with wav extension) and their 3D positioning by measured head model impulse responses correlation are described thereinafter. An ability of human hearing system to locate a virtual sound source in dependence on sound parameters is discussed in conclusion.

Influence of exostoses on hearing
Vališová, Šárka ; Švancara, Pavel (referee) ; Pellant, Karel (advisor)
Exostoses are periosteophyte inside the external auditory canal of the human ear. The main objective of this bachelor´s thesis is to determine the potencial impact of the shape modification of the external auditory canal due to occurence of exostoses on the mechanical sound transmission into the internal ear. The task was solved by FEM modelling performed in the ANSYS system. The simple finite element 2D model of the normal human ear has been taken from the diploma thesis B. Ouali: Development of 2D finite element model of human ear (BUT Brno, 2009), the model included the external ear canal, elastic eardrum, otitis cavity with the otitis ossicles and the cavity of the internal ear. The changes simulating exostoses in form of two opposite semicircles were performed. The different size and position of the symmetrical exostoses were studied. The influence of the exostoses on the sound transfer characteristics of the external ear canal was discused. It was processed the set of the audiograms (19 patients). The results of the modelling and the results of the audiology were compared, the preoperativ and the postoperativ stages were considered.
Infuence of eardrum position on sound transmission
Krbálek, Jaroslav ; Dušek, Daniel (referee) ; Pellant, Karel (advisor)
The human eardrum is inclined at an angle of 50 ° t o the axis of external auditory canal. The main objective of this thesis was to determine the impact of the inclination on sound transmission characteristics of external ear canal. It was observed influence of the various features of the eardrum and of the malleus weight on calculated transmission characteristics. Simple finite element model (FEM model) was created in the ANSYS program. The acoustic subsystem of the outer ear tube, elastic eardrum and solid malleus were created. The external ear canal model was modeled as one sided open cylinder which was terminated diagonally bedded with eardrum. In addition to the impact of the eardrum inclination, the influence of the eardrum elasticity and the weight of malleus on the sound transmission characteristics of external ear canal was also monitored. The eventual presence of the coincidence effect was also studied.
Singing and its development using a folk song for school age children
WOLFOVÁ, Monika
The main aim of this bachelor's thesis was to compile the basic knowledge of the importance of singing for the development of a school age child. The processing was done in terms of musicality development and from the perspective of educational influence. There are some practical examples of the developing of individual skills presented in this work too. All those previously mentioned issues are based on the theoretical findings. The thesis also contains treatise on folk songs. I recall earlier lives of people who were influenced with such songs and contributed to their emergence and wide spreading. The songs performed various functions and went through different stages of progression. In my work I exalt the importance of singing for the development of children. Most children meet folk songs from birth but its active operation usually fades later in their lives. Therefore I also included a chapter on the history and significance of folk songs.
Care for children with a suspicion to a congenital hearing disorder after their discharge from the hospital
POLÍVKOVÁ, Iveta
Hearing is one of the most important human senses. Allows communication in spoken language, so it is an important part of the communication process. Even when a child seemingly passively listens, learns that human speech is a means of communication, learns to understand the individual words, recognizing emotional overtones of speech, to distinguish different types of voice. From this perspective, emphasis is placed on early detection of hearing loss. Not all children are born hearing. Based on the implementation of hearing screening for all newborns, physiological and pathological, thrives as soon as possible to diagnose hearing loss or other problems and thus can be initiated early treatment. Next should also be provided to a child suitable care for the development of its communication. Birth of a disabled child is very hard for parents and often to others. Repeatedly, this problem is seen as a failure in the parental role. First of all, the parents of the child with a hearing loss has to cope with a difficult process with their child's disability. Where it is established permanent hearing loss, it is also a very serious health problem. Axle condition is most successful if it is initiated in the first months of life. This means that neonatal screening for hearing loss shortly after birth has a high potential to improve quality of life and life chances affected. During the identification of the extent and intensity of hearing loss in their child, parents should be empathically and helpfully informed. They should be informed about all the possibilities of raising a child with hearing impairment and the possibilities of compensation hearing disorders and the use of assistive devices. Important role in the whole process plays a combination of individual elements of the system, which the parents and their child acts. In the process should be involved experts and specialists who are able to provide appropriately chosen by parents all the information about the current situation in which they are. In the research part of the thesis, I used qualitative research method, which is designed for a small number of respondents. In preparing the interview I respect the work and the objective comprehensibility issues. The aim is to find out the way and ability to provide information to parents during an examination procedure and subsequent care for children with hearing loss. About the possibilities and the importance of multidisciplinary care for children with hearing loss, which was established on the basis of screening newborns in the hospital. To collect data and information I used semi-structured interview. It was the technique terrain data collection, through which I put deliberately targeted questions to the respondents face to face / face to face /. Everything went after previous arrangement by telephone with each respondent. With the respondent, I made the interview in their chosen environment. Environment that suggested themselves and in which they felt naturally. To select respondents I have chosen a combination of two techniques and that "purpose" / Caravan test / and "snowball" / snowball sampling /. I did data analysis by evaluating of individual interviews with respondent. I compared the processes of individual mothers. I have dealt with the support of mothers in various stages of the process, awareness and relevance of the information for individual mothers. Answers to questions from individual interviews I've been using categorical system and systematic classification categorized into individual charts. Finally, after the analysis of interviews with each respondent, I have come to propose some solutions that could be used in practice.

Noise pollution on the farm for breeding goats and neighborhood.
TÁCHA, Lukáš
The bachelor thesis is aimed at assessing the farm for breeding goats in terms of noise level in the neighborhood. The main objective was to measure the noise during the working operation at different places of the selected object, to process the collected data, to calculate the equivalent noise level and then evaluate the results of the work. On the basis of measured and assessed values is apparent that the noise pollution of the examined object has no effect on its neighborhood and therefore it is not necessary to propose any specific actions to improve the current situation.
