Objective assessment and reduction of noise in musical signal
Rášo, Ondřej ; Makáň, Florian (referee) ; Krejčí, Jiří (referee) ; Balík, Miroslav (advisor)
The dissertation thesis focuses on objective assessment and reduction of disturbing background noise in a musical signal. In this work, a new algorithm for the assessment of background noise audibility is proposed. The listening tests performed show that this new algorithm better predicts the background noise audibility than the existing algorithms do. An advantage of this new algorithm is the fact that it can be used even in the case of a general audio signal and not only musical signal, i.e. in the case when the audibility of one sound on the background of another sound is assessed. The existing algorithms often fail in this case. The next part of the dissertation thesis deals with an adaptive segmentation scheme for the segmentation of long-term musical signals into short segments of different lengths. A new adaptive segmentation scheme is then introduced here. It has been shown that this new adaptive segmentation scheme significantly improves the subjectively perceived quality of the musical signal from the output of noise reduction systems which use this new adaptive segmentation scheme. The quality improvement is better than that achieved by other segmentation schemes tested.
Modeling of Linear Distortion of Audio Devices
Vrbík, Matouš ; Sysel, Petr (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
Methods used for correction and modeling of frequency response of sound devices are discussed in this paper. Besides classic methods of digital filter design, more advanced and complex numerial methods are reviewed, Prony and Steiglitz-McBride in particular. This paper focuses on structure utilizing parallel sections of second-order IIR filters. Methods for calculating coefficients of this structure are presented and later implemented. For selected method, utilizing dual frequency warping, an interative algorithm for automatic calculation of parameters necessary to filter design is implemented - so called Particle Swarm Optimization. Six ways of evaluation filter design precision are presented and the results are compared. Functions realizing filter design are implemented in C++, MATLAB and Python. A VST module simulating the filter in real time is also provided.
Beamforming system with FPGA
Vadinský, Václav ; Vágner, Martin (referee) ; Havránek, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with processing signals from the microphone arrays for sound source localization. Compares different types of fields, such as cross-field and circular array. It is shown here how to implement Beamforming on FPGA and design of signal processing with a microphone array.
Processing of temperature data for inverse heat conduction tasks
Brachna, Róbert ; Komínek, Jan (referee) ; Luks, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with digital filters and noise removal from temperature measurements. The basic concept for the proper understanding of properties of filters is the discrete Fourier transform, which is illustrated on a given example. Next, the thesis considers linear filters and the design of basic types for noise reduction. An adaptive filter is designed by analyzing experimental data. This filter is subjected to further analysis using a simulated cooling process disrupted with artificially added noise and will be compared to other conventional filters. One criterion is to compare the curve of the filtered temperature to the simulated one. The second criterion is the reconstructed boundary condition, which is the output of the inverse heat conduction task.
Narrow Band Filtering of ECG Signals
Ryšánek, Jan ; Provazník, Ivo (referee) ; Kozumplík, Jiří (advisor)
This work deals with ECG signal preprocessing. Purpose of the preprocessing is adjustment of signal which is favorable for its subsequent analysis. The objective of this work is to filter the ECG signal by suitable methods of linear and adaptive filtering leading to the suppression of unwanted interference. The next step is to compare different degrees of success filtering thanks to results which were reached by the indivudual methods. Criterions of success filtering are based on the basic requirements for digital filters. Design of filters is realized in matlab programme. To realization is used FIR and IIR type of filters and adaptive type of filters
Sound Creation Using VST
Švec, Michal ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with digital sound synthesis. The main task was to design and implement new sound synthesizer. Created tool uses different approaches to the sound synthesis, so it can be described as a hybrid. Instrument design was inspired by existing audio synthesizers. For implementation, C++ language and VST technology from Steinberg are used. As an extension, a module, that can process voice or text input and then build a MIDI file with melody (which can be interpreted with using any synthesizer) was designed and implemented. For this module, Python language is used. For the synthesizer, a simple graphical user interface was created.

VST Plug-in for Dynamic Processing of Audio Signal
Zoň, Robin ; Frenštátský, Petr (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is the implementation of effects for adjusting the signal dynamics. This project includes four basic dynamic effects - compressor, expander, limiter and noise gate. The first part is developed in Matlab software. This solution offers signal sidechain input, display of signal waveforms of each block of sidechain branch, recording output signal and allows storage of output characteristics. In the second part, the effect is being realized using VST technology, which offers the possibility of changing the parameters in real time and displaying and recording the signal at various points within the control branch. Project also includes a brief discussion of the use of such dynamic effects in practice and collection of model examples to demonstrate the use of such effects.
