Insects in the teaching of biology in elementary and secondary school: Intended and implemented curriculum
VARAUSOVÁ, Eliška
This diploma thesis focuses on the curriculum topic of insects from two perspectives. The first view is intended (presumed) curriculum, the second implemented (achieved) curriculum. To determine the intended curriculum, a curriculum analysis of the insects contained in 6th grade primary biology textbooks and the corresponding level for grammar schools was used. Based on the analysis a didactic test is compiled, in order to determine the mastery of the subject matter by pupils the implemented curriculum. The results show a lower value of the intended (about 53%) than the implemented curriculum. In addition, the rate of the implemented curriculum, depending on the individual sub-circuits curriculum about insects, was found to be unbalanced.
Importance of alpine snowbeds for beetles and birds in arid mountains
AMBROŽOVÁ, Lucie
Several alpine snowbeds in Altai tundra were studied. Community structure and activity of ground-dwelling arthropods along the moisture gradient in snowbed habitat were examined. Also bird's foraging behavior in different habitats around the snowbed was tested in relation to altered arthropod abundance.
Life around the water and in the water, five environmental programs for kindergarten
KREJČOVÁ, Hana
Krejčová Hana 2014: Life around the water and in the water, five environmental programs for kindergarten. Bachelor thesis. Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, 63 pp. My bachelor thesis contains practical elaboration of five environmental programs for kindergartens. Main theme is life of animal around the water and in the water. I have chosen these themes: "Snails", "Insects", "Fishes", "Frogs", "Lizards and Snakes." Bachelor thesis contains beside practical part also theoretical part focused on pedagogy and natural science. Theoretical part is way-out for practical elaboration of all activities included in the submitted programs. My bachelor thesis also contains a discussion about suitability of form and content of the suggested environmental programs according to experiences of kindergarten teachers. Respondents have been asked by on-line questionnaire.
How much does predator morphology determine its size-selectivity: Comparison of morphometric data and experiments in predaceous aquatic insects
HAVLAN, Luboš
This study investigates size-selective predation of four groups predaceous aquatic insects: adults and larvae of diving beetles (Dytiscidae), larvae of dragonflies (Odonata) and aquatic true bugs (Heteroptera) using laboratory feeding experiments and relates the results to morphometric data obtained for each predator.
Damages caused by predation of invertebrates on the earliest development stages of fish
Trends in insect biodiversity in a changing world
AMEIXA, Olga Maria Correia Chita
In this thesis I investigated various factors that might affect species diversity and the relations between predator/parasitoid and host, using mainly insects as a model group. These factors were agricultural practices, landscape composition, climate change and invasive species.
Ecology of Veliidae and Mesoveliidae (Heteroptera: Gerromorpha)in Central Europe
DITRICH, Tomáš
Ecology of Veliidae and Mesoveliidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerromorpha) was studied in selected European species. The research of these non-gerrid semiaquatic bugs was especially focused on voltinism, overwintering with physiological consequences and wing polymorphism with dispersal pattern. Hypotheses based on data from field surveys were tested by laboratory, mesocosm and field experiments. New data on life history traits and their ecophysiological consequences are discussed in seven original research papers (four published journal papers, two submitted papers and one communication in conference proceedings), creating core of this thesis.
Insects. Series of creative lessons for art education on the primary school.
KANKRLÍKOVÁ, Eliška
This diploma thesis presents theoretical and practical materials for primary school art teachers. It deals with the theme of ?Insects? and how it can be taught to pupils from the third to fifth class of primary school. The theoretical part examines the biological, didactic as well as artistic aspects of the topic. The last chapter concentrates on the project method in art education. The theoretical part is followed by a concrete art series consisting of six art activities described in detail. The work is completed with a rich picture appendix, including a CD with motivational PowerPoint presentations.
Ecological education in nursery school
MRÁZKOVÁ, Kristýna
Mrázková, K.: Ecological education in nursery school Insects and spiders as model taxon within ecological education in nursery school An educational proposal for work with pre-school children aimed at closer familiarization with life of insects and spiders has been elaborated. The submitted proposal has been developed into eleven incorporated sections connected through a motivational fairy-tale "Little George among beetles". Six of these sections have been tried out and in terms of field-test results and gained experience the implementation of remaining five is now being arranged. Work and grapho-motive sheets for children of pre-chool age have been also designed and presented with each topic.
Brain processing of physiologicaly important olfactory signals in insects
Kalinová, Blanka ; Carlsson, M. A. ; Hansson, B. S.
The lecture provides basic insight into the mechanism of brain processing of pheromonal and non-pheromonal odours in insects.
