Adaptation of the child in foster family environment
TŮMOVÁ, Veronika
The main objective of this work is to explore the factors that influence the child's adaptation to the environment of the foster family. In the theoretical part the current forms of Substitute Family Care in the Czech Republic are mapped and also the process of arranging foster care applicants from the application to the creation of a new family. Below is an overview of the main factors involved in the adaptation of both the child into the family and the mutual adaptation of all the family members themselves. Due to the recently approved amendment to the social and legal protection of children act we will also mention the main impact of the amendment on foster care. The practical part of my thesis is based on the knowledge that I gained in contacts with foster families mainly through interviews, observations, children's drawings and play activities. The knowledge gained is then compared to these factors from the theoretical part of this work and summarizes the patterns and potential problems in the adaptation of children in foster family environment and its findings may possibly be applied as a prevention.

Use of activities in the presence of a dog for children in an institutional care
PAPEŽOVÁ, Zdeňka
Abstract Use of activities in the presence of a dog for children in an institutional care The canistherapy is currently an actively used supportive rehabilitation technique than it was in previous years. The canistherapy operates in many areas relating to children, adults with a certain type of a disadvantage or also seniors. Research works have not so far addressed an effect of the canistherapy to a very specific group of clients, i.e. children in an institutional care specifically in children´s homes. Children placed in the children´s homes are generally a high risk group in terms of an action of socially undesirable phenomena and a psychical deprivation. Above all for the reasons of those risks the canistherapy is an interesting and suitable method for an inclusion in the program of activities in the children´s home. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is divided into two areas, from which one represents a theoretical knowledge from areas of the institutional care and then it deals with the psychical deprivation. The other section of the theoretical part deals with questions of the canistherapy, its definition, methods and specifically focuses on the development of the child´s personality and the need of the presence of a dog during its development. An attention is also paid to concrete activities with dogs. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to define activities with the dog in the area of an improvement of social relationships and emotional experience at children in the institutional care. For a reason of the specific area of the research, the author chose a qualitative research, which is characterized by an in-depth description of the studied problem. The research technique was a direct participant observation in the chosen children´s home and then semi-controlled interviews with canistherapeutists and tutors. The research results present activities proven within the improvement of the social relations and emotional experience of the children. The activities are especially focused on an increase of their confidence, responsibility and evoking of pleasurable feelings. A completion of short and long term objectives at individual children was proved only partially for a reason of a short research period, some tasks require a longer field of an exposure and they will be continued even after the end of the research. This thesis should serve as an example of a good practice for using of the canitherapy in the children´s homes and in the other types of facilities within an institutional care.

The theoretical part describes the function and defects of a family, psychic deprivation of children, the history of foster care, the institution of foster care and its new forms and other. The target of the research and hypothesis is stated in the practical part. The target of the thesis is an attempt to clarify all the reasons why children live in institutions and why finding a substitutive family for them is difficult. The targeted sample was represented by 110 children from all regions of the Czech Republic except the South Bohemia region. These children{\crq} s collection of documents was forwarded in the second half of the year 2007 to the Regional Council of South Bohemia Region. In accordance with the target of the work following hypothesis were determined: Hypothesis no. 1: Most of the targeted children have serious disabilities. Hypothesis no. 2: The targeted sample were mainly children between 7 {--} 10 years old. Hypothesis no.3: The most frequent reason why children stay in institutions is the fact that their parents are not able to look after them. Hypotheses have been refuted.
