Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica

Diploma thesis "Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica" deals with the history, evolution and current state of religious structures of Eastern christian churches in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica. Each part of the investigated area has been analyzed in terms of the ethnic or. ecclesiological diaspora, its organizational capture (formation of the first parishes, dioceses, monasteries, schools and charitable organizations etc.) and on their current status (size and functionality of the existing church structure). Following the various jurisdictions and churches are described. A fundamental consideration is given to the canonical Orthodox Churches, then to the Orthodox Churches with less problematic canonical status, but there are also other Eastern Christian churches mentioned. Within the area the eminent figures of church life are closer described. This descriptive material is supplemented by interviews and journalistic texts, which further analyze situation of churches in the region and their various problems. It is also accompanied by photographic material. The thesis tries to describe ecclesiological tensions between the diaspora and mission, the diversity of ethnic and religious minorities and differences in their assimilation in the new religious, social and culture environment.
Identity and Displacement in Contemporary Postcolonial Fiction

English summary The main objective of this thesis is to present some key issues relevant for postcolonial field of study with respect to two basic areas of interest: concepts of identity and place, respectively displacement in contemporary postcolonial discourse and their reflection in fiction, too. The thesis should provide the potential reader with basic theoretical background based on the most fundamental sources and by means of selected literary works it should support (or disclaim, if necessary) conclusions reached by the most notable theories. This dissertation work consists of three major parts. In the introduction, apart from providing the motivational, theoretical and literary objectives of the thesis, I cover some basic difficulties that may occur when dealing with the postcolonial field of study. The central part of the thesis can be divided into two parts, each of them consisting of two further sections. The first one, "Identity in Postcolonial Discourse", is focused on one of the key terms in all of postcolonial theory: identity and other concepts related with it. I cover the basic development of theoretical reflection concerning this concept, drawing primarily from secondary sources dealing with it. Diasporas - a challenge to State Sovereignty: The Case of Armenians

It presents case studies on the Armenian diaspora in France, in the US and the effects of the diaspora on Armenia. The case studies are used instrumentally to verify the theory of transnationalism.
Identity of the greek minority and its transnational activities in the CR

The main content of this Thesis is to assess the situation of the Greek minority in the territory of the Czech Republic in the context of its arrival, settlement and integration to the major society. The aim is to assess the current situation of the minority and its transnational activities. The Greek minority in our country is numerically stable and fully integrated into the main society. The typical feature of minority is the identification with other members of minority trough their organizations and also through the internal identification with the country of their origin (namely Greece), by the traditional culture, history, cuisine and language. The Thesis is divided into eight parts that are relevant to understanding the problems of Greek minority in our country in the context of involuntary emigration from war torn Greece in the 1950's. The methods used in this thesis were the secondary analyses and the field research (the questionnaire survey). The simple statistical methods were used to gain final result. The topic of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of novels of three Jewish American authors Chaim Potok, Philip Roth and Isaac Bashevis Singer and their respective approach to the establishment and development of the State of Israel. The theoretical part of the thesis considers the historical events and summarizes basic terms necessary for further research. In the following part the novels are analyzed in terms of their devices and the various perspectives of Israel provided by the protagonists. The final part of the thesis attempts to compare the novels in terms of common and individual features and their respective impact on the reader. As each of the novels covers a different period, they are eventually used to demonstrate how the public approach to the State of Israel has changed over time.
Care for the Vietnamese community from the perspective of both countries: Vietnam and the Czech Republic

The paper draws attention in clear propositions to the fact that the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic is structurally segmented society, but above all it is straddled between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. Vietnamese minority becomes a modern Central European diaspora. Given this fact, it seems that the issue is on the table to seek a coordinated interest (in the paper called the term "care") of the local minority on the part of both countries: Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
Factors influencing the image of India on international level: case study migration

Today, India is one of the fastest growing countries in the world and its economic, political and cultural infulence is going to rise in the near future. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to assess, whether the factor of migration can have an infuelce on India and its role in international relations. The thesis shows main migration features - outlook on Indian emigration from the gain of independence in 1947 until present, Indian internal migration and it also mentions immigration to India.There are also outlined reasons and impacts of migration and main migration actors(migrants, state, international organizations). Indian diaspora is observed too.
Theory of Diaspora: Jewish diaspora in the U.S. and its influence on U.S. foreign policy towards Israel - a case study

In its theoretical part this master thesis identifies the main criteria determinating a diasporic ethnic group, based on publications from the scholarly journal Diaspora: A Journal of Transnational Studies. Further on the master thesis deals with the history of the Jewish diaspora, firstly with the worldwide Jewish diaspora and subsequently with the Jewish diaspora in the United States . The further part of the master thesis concerns a more specific determination of the Jewish diaspora in the United States -- the history, structure and influence of the Jewish lobby in the United States. The last part supports with illustrative examples the influence of the Jewish lobby on the United States foreign policy on the US economic and military aid to Israel in particular.
Russian Diaspora in Israel and Its Influence on the Middle East Conflict

The bachelor thesis attempts to deal theoretically with the role of diasporas in international relations, focusing mainly on their influence on domestic and foreign policies of the country in which they reside. The theoretical input is depicted on the case of the Russian diaspora in Israel, which forms one of the most influential lobby groupings in the country. The aim is to examine its influence on Israeli domestic and foreign policies and thus an impact on the Middle East conflict itself.
