Cséfalvaiová, Kornélia ; Langhamrová, Jitka (advisor) ; Löster, Tomáš (referee)
The European Commission has declared 2012 The European year for active aging and solidarity between generations. This issue calls each society to analyze the process of population aging and it's social and economic consequences. Currently active aging can be the key to solve the demographic trends, because Europe is the continent with the slowest population growth. The present study follows the issue of seniors from a demographic and socio-economic point of view, as well as social attitudes towards seniors. Process of demographic aging in the Czech Republic is characterized by using literature and statistical sources, as well as the position of society to activity of the post-productive population in the labor market, to health, social security and pension, as well as the relationship within the family and society. Attention is given to life satisfaction and quality of life of older people. The submitted diploma thesis has a theoretical-empirical nature. The theoretical part consists of five chapters. The first chapter defines the basic concepts associated with the process of aging. The following chapters are dealing with life satisfaction and quality of life of older people, as well as with social and intergenerational relationships in the family and in society as a whole. The socio-economic impact of demographic aging on society and the measures needed to deal with the unfavorable consequences are also presented. The thesis also includes a questionnaire and evaluation of life satisfaction and quality of life of seniors, addressed to two groups of people at retirement age. The aim of work is reflecting the period of old age and life satisfaction of the elderly. Another aim of this thesis is to characterize the evolution of aging in the Czech Republic, highlighting its likely future development. The results are dedicated for those who seek to understand this issue of the elderly in our society.
Clients´life at a ward with social beds in hospital Nemocnice Jindřichův Hradec a.s. and in the Nursing Care Home in Jindřichův Hradec
BERÁNKOVÁ, Jana
Old age is the last stage of human life; the main task of old age is to reach integrity in terms of one´s own life. The ideal of active aging is understood as the time when it is possible to pursue one´s youth activities such as sport or hobbies; paradoxically, old age is considered as valuable only if old people are able to fulfil the cultural ideal of youth. In my thesis, I focus on comparing the clients´ life at a ward with social beds in hospital Nemocnice Jindřichův Hradec a.s. and in the Nursing Care Home in Jindřichův Hradec. I tried to find out the respondents´ aims in life, how the respondents use their leisure time and whether they use of the opportunities offered by the facility. I also tried to find out how much the respondents had to change their lifestyles in the current social facilities and whether they are satisfied because not to fulfil their aims in life could lead to social isolation and a lack of self-fulfilment. In my research, I respect the individuality of each person and their attitude to life. To understand an individual it is necessary to access their life in a holistic way, from birth to the present, and to take into account the course of their life in its entirety. It is also confirmed by the research part of my thesis, when the respondents still had their aims in live, in which they were still trying to find joy in their lives, despite their old age, they did not close the door to the world, but rather they were still interested in not only their relatives but they also liked to use the services offered by the facility in the use of their leisure time. I used qualitative research to compare of life of clients in each of the facilities. In my research I used the method of observing the o respondents in each of the facilities; I also used semi-controlled interviews and a personal data analysis. I consider this topic as very relevant because the issue of old age has recently been a serious social problem due to the fact that in terms of demography the population has been getting older due to the lengthening of life expectancy and concurrent fall in natality. The current all-society programs do not emphasize prolonging life but they promote the quality of life in old age, independence, participation, self-fulfilment and dignity.

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the health condition parameters and value ladders of senior citizens participating in the intervention mobility program and to assess the impact of adequate physical activity on their general wellness and value orientation. The opening chapter of the bachelor thesis deals with the general problems of aging and old age, elaborating on the individual concepts and contingencies that invariably accompany these issues. The next part of the thesis details certain relevant facts about homes for the elderly, comparing care for the elderly in the past and today. Furthermore, the first part of the thesis focuses on intervention mobility programs, describing what these programs are about, what is considered adequate physical activity, and what role the retention of mobility plays in the life of the elderly in general. The second part of the bachelor thesis concentrates on processing the concrete data and results acquired in the course of the intervention mobility program organized in a home for the elderly. Upon completing the intervention mobility program, we can say that the program did have positive effects, but not in all of the parameters measured. In other words, while certain health condition parameters and value orientation parameters did reach the desired results, others recorded practically no improvement at al.
