Hand Motion Recognition
Blaho, Juraj ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Hradiš, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and implement a novel computer interface based on detection and tracking of a hand in an image from a single camera. The created interface doesn't require any special hardware and it is possible to use it on a common computer with standard web-camera. The implemented interface was used to create an application, which is able to synthesize keyboard and mouse input events and this way it is able to control existing programs without the need to change their source code. Another contribution of this work is a novel method of automatic data acquisition for training of hand detectors. By using this method it is possible to collect thousands of training examples in a few hours.
Design and Control of a Hand Prosthesis
Žajdlík, Jakub ; Skalický, Jiří (advisor)
Práce předkládá metody a výsledky návrhu, výroby a výzkumu pětiprsté protézy ruky. Inspirace jdoucí z přírody a z toho vyvozený princip použitého mechanizmu je uveden. Základní koncept řídícího schéma založeného na procesingu a ohodnocení EMG je navrhnut a implementován. Části senzorického systému protézy jsou navrhnuty a zahrnuty do rídícího algoritmu a shématu. Velké množství inovací a návrhů pro budoucí práce a výzkum jsou prezentovány, stejně tak komplexní analýza a diskuse dosažených a možných budoucích výsledků.
The Upper Limb Prosthesis And Its Impact On A Patient's Mental State
Štechová, Eva ; Bachura,, Marek (referee) ; Zdařil, Zdeněk (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis deals with myoelectric upper limb prosthesis and it's effect on mental state of the patient. It was created as a collaboration with company OTTOBOCK SLOVAKIA s.r.o, company that distributes prostheses and other devices to help improve or preserve mobility for disabled patients. I chose one of their products, Greifer, and decided to do a redesign. Greifer is a prosthesis made for delicate work with small objects on one hand, on the other for harder work that requires a firm grip. I created the design with regards to ergonomics, functionality and aesthetic quality. My aim was to create a product that a patient would easily get used to, and it would not draw negative attention of other people, which would have negative effect on a mental health of the patient. Functionally I followed the today's Greifer system provided by Ottobock at first, but then I added the function of rotation around spherical joint, inspired by an actual human wrist joint.

Physio-therapeutical methods after injuries of the flexor and extensor tendons of a hand
BENDOVÁ, Markéta
This diploma thesis entitled ``Physio-therapeutical methods after injuries of the flexor and extensor tendons of a hand{\crqq} describes the anatomy of forearm and hand muscles, as well as fascia and tendon loops. The main objective is to summarize a basic knowledge on injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons and physiotherapy of this problem. The work also includes the application of this knowledge into practice by elaboration of case reports of patients with injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons, which, among others, reveal a necessity of individual approach of the therapist and patient{\crq}s cooperation. The other objective of this study is to compare the theoretical approach to the injuries of the hand{\crq}s flexor and extensor tendons from the viewpoint of the physiotherapist in the Czech Republic and in Finland. To achieve this aim, I used the method of qualitative research; the data were collected in interviews with selected physiotherapists in the Czech Republic and in Finland. The comparison showed that the methodology used in Finland is rather similar to that used in the Czech Republic. In both countries, the process of therapy is tailored to patients individually and it respects the physician's recommendation.
Physiotherapy after the forearm and the hand injuries
POLÁKOVÁ, Jana
My bachelor thesis dealing with the topic Physiotherapy after forearm and hand injuries, describes not only the complete anatomy of the forearm and hand, characteristics of the particular injuries and the complications thereof, but also examination methods and possibilities of rehabilitation, by means of which the patients frequently regain former functions of the extremity affected. The thesis aims to find out whether patients are able to return to their original occupations as well as their original hobbies. The research part, in which the casuistic method and that of a free conversation with patients in the course of their attendance to rehabilitation procedures were used, contains descriptions of diagnoses and examinations of two patients with a different therapy success. The conclusion of the thesis resulted in the fact that the convalescence success of patients and their return to work largely depends on how complicated their diagnoses are and on the character of their work. In my opinion patients should be provided with a complex care, which includes timely medical help and subsequent physiotherapy and ergotherapy. A very substantial problem that is omitted is the patients{\crq} mental state, and for that reason the convalescence process should involve possible visits to a psychologist. Another essential thing is to inform the patient systematically on his/her state and future, and his/her motivation for his/her effort of improvement.
Preparing and administering medicaments by hand or by an instrument
ŠEBENDOVÁ, Jana
I found out in this thesis the way nurses handle medicaments. What preparing and administering medicaments is like, and whether they prefer their own hands or an instrument in their work. This subject started to attract me for the reasons of an untraditional view of nurses{\crq} everyday work because they get in contact with preparing and administering medicaments several times a day. It was also interesting to compare the theoretical part with the practical aspects of the matter. In the theoretical part I outlined the entire knowledge nurses are to have not to endanger themselves or the patients in the course of handling medicaments. Nurses have to know the terminology related to medicaments, further what forms of medicaments there are, what effects may be expected, they are also supposed to know the manner of the application of medicaments, the manner of preparing and administering medicaments, what mistakes nurses may meet with when working with medicaments and what roles nurses have when administering medicaments. I am focusing especially on administering medicaments orally. The objectives of my thesis was to survey in what way nurses conduct hand hygiene before preparing and administering medicaments, whether they use aids intended for handling medicaments, in what way medicaments are prepared and administered to patients. To obtain results, I used the qualitative research. In total, 2 techniques were used. The first technique was hidden observation based on an observation list prepared beforehand, with activities connected with the subject in question. This observation was completed with a second technique {--} a structured conversation with open questions. Both the observation and the structured conversation were conducted in the intern section of the České Budějovice Hospital, a.s. The results may be given to the management of the hospital in which the research was conducted. They may also serve as a basis for a new standardisation of the subject in question.
