The Language of Contemporary Advertising and the Codification of the Czech Language (The Regional Press of the Town Beroun Its Surroundings)
Očenášková, Gabriela ; Kvítková, Naděžda (referee) ; Chejnová, Pavla (advisor)
The thesis deals with the language of contemporary advertising published 1 in a selection of regional newspapers of the town Beroun and its surroundings, i.e. Berounsky denik, Podbrdské noviny and The Independent Newspaper of the Beroun Region - ECHO. The main part of the paper evaluates the language of advertising from the point of view of codification and examines the flaws in orthography which appear in these texts. The deviations from the orthography rules found in the texts are classified in compliance to The Czech Language Orthography Rules published in 2004. Following the discovered facts I tried to find out which mistakes prevail, to identify the causes of their origin and to review to what extent the adult population has mastered the rules. Besides the orthographic flaws I also focused on other aberrations from the language standards and special features in the fields of stylistics, lexicology and morphology. As I worked with a specific type of newspapers - the regional press - 1 also tried to draw a more general picture of the form and the language of their advertising and to compare the present-day situation with the condition twelve years ago when these newspapers started to be published. The thesis consists of two parts: translation of a half of Savage Continent, a book by British historian Keith Lowe, with key topics including the universal destruction of Europe caused by the Second World War and the subsequent wave of vengeance that swept across Europe in its aftermath; and a commentary on the translation, beginning with an introduction of the author and his style, subsequently providing extensive overview of the development of the Czech discourse about the expulsion of Germans, translation analysis of the original English text of a chapter concerning the expulsion of Germans and its position in the discourse, as well as a look t the target reader and reception, and finally describing various translation problems that occurred while translating this chapter, including not only linguistic, but also poetic-ideological problems.

Distribution and Meaning of the -ák Suffix in Czech Corpora
Goroshko, Vladimir ; Adamovičová, Ana (advisor) ; Starý Kořánová, Ilona (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with theoretical exploration of characteristics pertaining to the Czech suffix -ák and determination of statistical correlations relating to its distribution in Czech language corpora. The problem is approached through a general description of word formation in the Czech language and theoretical attribution of the -ák suffix to semantical and morphological categories and derivation paradigms. Particulars of the -ák suffix, such as homonymy, productivity and expressivity, are being described. Practical research is aimed at comparison of data obtained from the SYN2010 written language corpus and the ORAL2013 spoken language corpus and assessment of their appropriateness for investigation of the modern language. The research has confirmed that corpus data to a large extent conform with theoretical distribution of the suffix, with a few minor exceptions described in the text, and that such distribution shows certain differences between the written and the spoken corpora. Particular attention to univerbisation is paid both in the theoretical and the practical parts. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Fat tax - the tool in the battle against obesity
Nedvídek, Václav ; Písař, Pavel (advisor) ; Kuhn, Petr (referee)
Object of this thesis is fat tax. Thesis analyses theoretically causes and effects of substantial increase of obesity in last decades. It looks on the justifiability of state's intervation to the market for the reason of increasing rate of obesity and analyses pretexts for this intervation. It suggests the ideal solution of the obesity problem. It denominates the main tools of state, by which state combat against obesity and focuses theoretically and practically on the fat tax. It analyses the benefits and costs of the fat tax and comments the effectiveness of this tax on the model studies. In last chapter it analyses dependence between the fat tax and the rate of obesity in the USA.

Nationalization processes in Czechoslovakia 1945-1946
Kučerová, Alice ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
In my bachelor work I shall address the situation of Czechoslovakia in the years of 1945 -- 1948 with focus on nationalization processes. In the first part I will outline the difficult political situation in the post-war time, the rise of National Front and the the slow accession of communists to the power, culminating in February 1948. I shall also point out the reasons which reorientated czechoslovakian foreign policy towards the SSSR. In the second part I focused on Beneš decrees, especially nationalization decrees. I shall also metion those that led to the punishment of Germans, Hungarians, traitors and collaborators. Furthermore, I will analyze decrees that led to nationalization of key industry, joint-stock banks and insurance companies. I will focus not only on their statutory texts and their discussion by the government, but also their economic and social effects. The aim of this work is to analyze nationalization decrees to the reader, since they are documents that influenced course of events in Czechoslovakia for the next fifty years.

The effects of long double-stranded RNA expression in mammalian cells.
Nejepínská, Jana ; Svoboda, Petr (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štefl, Richard (referee)
Double stranded RNA (dsRNA) is a foreign molecule that arises in the cell either as a by-product of viral replication or it is produced by the intramolecular or intermolecular pairing of complementary RNAs, often originating from repetitive sequences. In mammals, dsRNA can enter one of three pathways: the sequence-specific RNA silencing, the sequence-independent interferon (IFN) response, or editing by adenosine deaminases. The main focus of my PhD project was to comprehensively analyze the effects of the expressed dsRNA in mammals in the context of the whole organism. To follow this aim, we generated a construct expressing dsRNA in a form of an mRNA containing a long perfect hairpin structure. Transgenic mice ubiquitously expressing dsRNA were viable and, in contrast to the previous studies, the IFN response was not activated. In somatic cells, dsRNA was poorly processed into small interfering RNAs, did not cause transcriptional silencing in trans, and underwent low adenosine deamination without the nuclear retention. Consistent results were obtained in human cells transiently transfected with a dsRNA-expressing plasmid. On the other hand, dsRNA expression caused robust RNA interference (RNAi) in oocytes. Thus, we show for the first time that expressed dsRNA, in contrast to many other forms of...

Optimalizace parametrů úlohy s rázovým zatížením v programu LS-DYNA
ŠTANGL, Jiří
Master's thesis focuses on numerical modeling of automotive tasks. The text is divided into two main parts. A fuel supply module is the main topic of all numeric analyses of this thesis and it is introduced in the first part. Basics of theoretical continuum mechanics and finite elements method are also explained in the first part. The second part is split into two main topics of the fuel supply module - material damping and contact numerical modeling. Practical reasons for parameter optimization are explained along with particular optimization results and underlying theoretical background.

Experimental testing of elasticity modulus for base layers of pavements
Kotas, Vojtěch ; Mondschein,, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The thesis is focused on experimental testing of resilient modulus Mr with triaxial test of chosen unbounded and bounded mixtures used in the sub-base layer of pavement. The reason of testing is to compare results with TP 170 – pavement construction guide containing commonly used values of resilient modulus Mr. Thesis should check if those values are correct and real. For classification of chosen materials there are used another tests like grain size distribution, compaction, California bearing ratio CBR for unbounded mixtures and compressive strength for cement-bounded mixtures.
